whats wrong with having to press more buttons? appreciate that mesmers takes more skill to play. i could understand this argument if mesmers can’t have that much burst potential, but they can. i dont see the problem.

I think you should shelve your Mesmer and play an Engineer. They’re so much better and the grass is always greener on the other side.

Why do you want to be an exact same thing as an Engineer? the exact same thing to an Engineer… is an Engineer. Play one if the AoE they do grabs you.

I started leveling one too but I confess being low level again is distasteful and I can’t bring myself to do it again.

Spamming tab and auto attacking mobs before they die fast in a DE takes no skill what so ever. It’s just frustrating that we have hardly any AoEs and our phantasms are lucky to get one attack off before their die from being one shot or their target dies.

None of that is related to a players skill, just mechanics.

This thread is weird, the first post has nothing to do with the title adn the responses have nothing to do with the first post.

Wait, wait! Are you saying Engineer is less buttons than Mesmer? 4-kit Engineer build would like to have a word with you. In sheer number of abilities and actions per minute it is an order of magnitude higher than playing a Mesmer.

Though I get what you’re saying. When it comes to mop tapping and DEs, I haven’t found anything better than Engineer. Grenades with 1500 range, a turret here, a turret there, and you are practically guaranteed to tap everything in every spawn, even when they appear on different sides of the camp.

Just don’t go spreading rumors like Mesmer is harder to play. In DEs where an Engi can just spam 1 skill, maybe. Anywhere else, Engi is considerably more complex on every level. And yes, I have both at level 80.

my post was in response to the OP. he was claiming that mesmers has to use multiple skills and thus more key presses than engi to achieve the same aoe damage, which is true.

i’ve not played an engi, so i dont claim to know how hard it is to be effective in pvp. though from what i’ve seen, to be the best of the best in pvp, ele’s definitely have the highest skill ceiling.

edit: i just noticed you can’t see the original post. i did not start this thread.. lol

Yeah, the original poster chickened out and deleted his post. They really should remove that option once someone replies to it.

I think the mesmer could need some more fast ae capability, but within the class and not tacked on. A good way would be to speed up the movement of illusions after a shatter, and/or increase the projective travel time of staff attacks, esp the bounces.

Why not just fix the tapping system.

Why should professions which are inherently back-loaded be rendered second-class to those which are front-loaded? and why should back-loaded classes have their fundamentals changed to front-loading to deal with a broken system.

the threshold for tapping should be made lower.

Health you GIVE when reviving someone who is down in-combat should apply as ‘tap damage’ to their target(s)

health and boons you give someone as support should apply as ‘tap damage’ to their targets.

I started a new engineer….was doing a low level escort event. When the centaurs swarmed us, I dropped a flame turret, and shot blindly into the crowd. I got drops off almost every mob versus the two or three I would’ve gotten with my mesmer.

My inventory filled up so fast during that event. People say that engineers are complex due to so many available skills, but at low levels, all I do is run and shoot and it couldn’t be easier.

I love my mesmer, and I fully support this suggestion.
