I am aware that the iZerker damage reduction was unintentional. However pre-patch a traiter iZerker with a short CD was one of the only reliable ways a mesmer could tag large patches of event mobs in order to gain credit.

As it stands, the class is severely lacking in quick burst AoE needed to gain high accreditation ranks in events due to the following:

-Illusions must run to the target and only burst quickly in melee. Mesmers have extremely limited mobility outside of a long blink CD and most of the time mobs are dying so fast clones on targets evaporate before they are able to wrack.

-Chaos storm has too long of a CD to allow it to become a competitive aoe bomb for mob zerg events.

-Izerker was good because it rolled through multiple targets quickly after being spawned, allowing a mesmer to reliably AoE. Even then, mesmers had to risk of having the mob die before izerker follows through with its attack, causing it to shatter before hitting enough mobs for decent credit. Post nerf, iZerker rarely hits more than 1-2 targets and deals only a fraction of damage it used to.

A combination of the following factors greatly decreases event rewards for mesmers and forces players of the class to work extremely hard and rely on may luckshots to gain decent credit.

In areas saturated with eles, rangers, and other high damage aoe classes sometimes its difficult for a mesmer to get a single bag of loot at all.

This has been a persisting problem and now has been made event worse since iZerker (our only reliable high response aoe) was killed.

I hope that considerations regarding the current state of mesmer and perhaps a deeper rooted problem in how event credit is distributed are looked at in future patches.

If any mesmers have any strategies for helping to improve loot gain and participation in events, please let me know.

Level another character up to 80. I’m not trolling. As it stands, mesmer is one of the worst professions to tag mobs in dynamic events. In addition, they require a decent amount of work just to function well in any PvE situation that involves 1v1+n mobs.

Don’t believe me? Roll another class. They all handle multiple mob situations much more efficiently and laughingly easier than a mesmer.

Makes me sad since I was really, really excited about mesmer for the game, but I guess it took a few years before they fixed mesmer in GW1 for PvE.

Of course they should, and they work brilliantly in PvP. But even in 1v1 PvE, it takes us longer to kill mobs simply because of setup time. I don’t know what the fix will be, but I sure as heck hope they at least take away this los for summons; now I sometimes waste my long recharge summons because there’s a small rock in the way ><

People over exaggerate so much….

I literally hit three button in solo PVE vs one mob…. GS – 2, 4….. Shatter
2 mobs can be a couple more but usually it is still GS – 2, 4… dodge…shatter… 2, 4….2 Shatter

If I get 3 or 4 ranged mobs… Feedback and laugh…

..so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should

In personal stories, mobs come in packs of at least 3, and in waves. Feedback only works if those ranged mobs are projectiles, and of course there’s yet another long recharge. And what happens when the mob you summoned the phantasm on dies? Another long recharge for the “aoe”. Sure, if you’re anywhere near an okay/average player, you will make it through just fine. But that’s not to say that other professions are not making it through a lot easier and faster than you are, with probably 1/3 of the effort since they all have spammable aoes.

And of course, that still doesn’t answer the question of Cursed Shore, although I guess with the introduction of the Fractals dungeon, there are a lot less people there.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my mesmer. But lately, I haven’t touched her at all since it’s just so much easier on my engineer and thief.

To keep the topic on track, I’m not talking about mesmer PVE performance as a whole. That is a whole other set of metas and problems.

I’m specifically talking about mesmer performance in PVE dynamic events, where mobs die extremely fast and quickly striking multiple mobs with fast response AoE is a necessity in gaining loot and credit.

I have no problems tagging mobs in events. I’m a condition/confusion build. I spread ae confusion and conditions around like crazy get plenty of XP credit as well as a Gold medal every time without fail. Make use of your combo fields.

Actually, the correct approach to this problem would be to fix the events. Enemies dying right after being spawned is just not right. Event trashmobs shouldn’t give loot at all but a higher reward in the end for event completion imo. All this AoE and tagging bs has to stop.

… I have no difficulty getting loot at all as condition/confusion setup i do shatter frequently as well.. if people are having a hard time they’re probably just auto attacking and wishing it was a auto-magical i win button

All be it having to rely on shatters to do most of the work is a pain in the kitten works none the less.

Eh no. But even if it was the case: other classes simply have that auto-magical I win button when it comes to events.
The whole concept of event farming is flawed anyway.

Since relase i have always been against this flawled tagging of mobs for treasure… Even my thief can get more treasures in events, long live the Shortbow:D.

How many 80’s do you have? try to get another 80’s (Elementalist, Warrior, Thief…) with similar gears as your Mesmer and see it for yourself. With the same effort, you will get much more loots as playing with other professions. That’s the point of this post.

As far as my other 80s go aside from the mesmer I have a Engineer(grenadier spec) & Elementalist(set up for aoe)

I don’t know about much more thats a bit of an exaggeration but it is EASIER for sure with less setup time. AoE even before the dmg reduction on iZerker was kind of weak. You’re basically pigeonholed into one of the shatter variants and chaining shatters back to back and using aoe confusion/maximizing ethereal fields and reflects.

I certainly think that the Mesmer needs improvement in AoE for sure however those folks that say its impossible to keep up or even do are just wrong. It sucks being forced into a spec you don’t like to play just to be able to accomplish the goal though.

I do agree with you on the above quote. It is possible, it just has to take a lot more effort comparing to other professions. Happy holiday.
