Why is it that the 2 best looking focus’ in the game: The Anomaly & Spirit Links both have purple glows to match the Mesmer?

My Necromancer has a dark colour scheme and every other focus in the game is lame. Accursed Chains is almost a good looking focus, but it’s more of a grey shade and it’s barely visible.

Why doesn’t Accursed Chains have a black glow like a Necromancer does when in Death Shroud? Was there really any reason not to make it like that? Why should Spirit Links – which is the exact same skin – have a purple glow and Accursed Chains not have a black glow?

Skulls are also lame, because they are an ugly colour.

Oh yeah, Moldnir Effigy, Nightmare Focus, Peacemaker’s Focus, Tribal Focus and Glints scale also have purple glows. Mesmer bias much?

TL;DR
I am not a purple Necromancer. Where are the good looking/dyeable skins? Where is my black glowing Anomaly and Accursed Chains?

Where are the black claw focus skins from Guild Wars 1? The skins are already created. Let’s see them in Guild Wars 2.

Those are some sexy focuses. I didn’t even know half of those existed.

I hope they do introduce a way to dye weapons in future content updates! It would be so nice to have a bright blue anomaly focus to match my guardians blue fire theme..

Why do you spend so much time making Necromancer whine threads in the Mesmer forums?

I need that Anomaly. It looks gorgeous.
The thing is I don’t play my mesmer with a focus yet. xD

Oh, and I don’t care if I need much more time to create one. That’s not the point.. :-)

If you’re so hung up on purple = Mesmer, that’s your problem. As for me, I see no reason why purple can only equate to Mesmer. I mean, yah, Mesmer skills are (mostly) purple, but if anything thats all the more reason to pick something other than purple for a weapon on a Mesmer. Why stack purple on more purple? I’d rather have some variety.

And Necro having a purple mist weapon? Seems perfectly fine to me. Its just a color.

Accursed Chains looks great as-is. I wouldn’t want it to glow black.

But we all know that accursed chains is mesmer weapon, so it should glow purple and attract butterflies.

Uh Bloodseeker? That has necromancer written all over it, Adam is nice. What about Mojo? Ogre Effigy? Squeedily Spooch?

Necros also have the better choice of scepters…and staffs outside bifrost. >_>

I just crafted the anomaly, but there are plenty of nice focuses
Bloodseeker and flux Matrix are good as well.

Focus’ have really the best skins, i have an alt PvE ele and find me a decent dagger :| there is none…..

As an Asura Mesmer I’m all about the flux matrix…just wish it had a bit more shine to it, considering what it cost me lol.

OP, the reason why accursed chains doesn’t have a glow like spirit links despite having the same skin, is because of the cost price.
Accursed chains: 30 mystic coins, 250 steel ingot, 50 orichalcum ingot
Spirit links: 70 mystic coins, 250 globs of ecto, 20 orichalcum ingot

250 ecto should be almost 70g, subtracted the ingot difference, let’s say 50g. You’re (grosly underestimated) paying 50 more gold for the little bits of particle effect.
As for why spirit links is purple. All mist weapons are.

Finding a good staff for Mesmers can be a pain.
Only the Modniir Quarterstaff kinda fits the Mesmer, but not truly. Everything else seems to fit the Necro or Ele better.

staff and dagger doesn t seem to exist or nobody still found the recipe.

shine focus like anomaly??? wut guys, clones dont have OH wep. so it easy way to show who real against enemy. i use “Gaze”, small, dont shine and cheap skin (cost about 2g)
