Mesmers nerfed, Should I roll a Thief?
Do you enjoy mesmer? If you do, do not reroll.
Is this is relation to blind/block/whatever negating phantasms? This change annoys me a lot too, but I wouldn’t make another profession/character unless it was for the race achievements I haven’t got yet,
personally i’d stick with mes, im leveling up mine now to get my vigil award unlocked , and already have a thief and an ele at 80, i think you’ll find what ever class is your main will seem to get nerfed more due to the fact your paying attention to that class and not to the others. as far as the thief goes you cant really compair weather they need to be nerfed to a WvW setting sense half the guys there are under leveled and geared. on our server we host a video compition and the last weeks winner came from a mesmer… after watching his video i re-rolled mesmer :P lol

Blind/Block, Line of Sight bugs, Timing bugs where my iZerker runs around for a few seconds to get back in range of an enemy that moved a few steps before it attacks etc. etc.
Just irritated that every prof I play gets ridiculous nerfs while profs which are clearly overpowered like Thieves and Guardians still run rampant.
I would suggest just using a Staff in place of your GS and return to rolling thieves.

Change class every nerf will not help, that make it sound like you after the easy path for kill rather a class in it self. There is ways to be effective as mesmers but u need to work for it mate

I would suggest that you indeed play a thief or guardian (in pve). Maybe you judge otherwise after trying them out.
Hmm, or are you talking about pvp?
I thought ANat made it clear that iZerker is a bug….
Strike Force [SF] – Stormbluff Isle
they did but if people cant come to the forums to complain about the fact its Anet’s fault there bad and not themselves, what ever would they do?
Thieves can arguably be better Mesmers than Mesmers are. The amount of interrupts thieves can put out awe inspiring. Trait to steal boons, plenty of teleportation, that’s why I have a Thief alt.
Mesmer will always be my main though, no matter how much Anet hates the class.
I love how people can be so positive because their build wasn’t affected by a substancial nerf (yet). You can enjoy a class but not every build may suit your playstyle and when you found a build that did and that it just keep getting nerfed/bugged with every patch, I think you have the right to be pissed off and not get called lazy. My two cents. ^^
Well I kinda always possetive, in the past I stuck to my class in another mmo for ups and downs for 5 years, if my spc got nerfed I experemented untill I found a way to make it work. Its not always the easy path thats is the fun. my 2 cents.

If you can have fun with any spec, good for you but doesn’t mean everyone is like you or should.
No sure, and im kinda weard so no way I expect ppl do like me, but still chage spec everytime 1 get nerfed, then go nex class who get nerfed etc is maby not the answer eather. just saying

I think what most are saying is yes the nerf sucks but the class itself is unique and lots of ways to tweek it so you can still faceroll peeps.
Stick with it man youll find ur nitch

Honestly, I think you’ll probably find that every class will get their turn getting bonked by the nerf bat. I imagine this will be a never-ending process of tweaking and adjusting for A.net and sometimes – particularly when you’re playing a profession intensely – it’ll feel like a giant slap in the face. What you should play depends on what you want:
- If you want to play a profession whose core mechanics won’t ever be profoundly affected, the trick will probably be to play one that has as straightforward an approach as possible… so nothing with pets or fancy pants tricks that could break at any moment like Mesmer. For example, elementalists might not be the most powerful prof all the time, but attunements are super straightforward (almost like two extra weapon sets) so while you may lose your favorite toy every so often, the basics of the profession are unlikely to be gutted by only one change. That is, of course, unless ALL of your play hinges on one mechanic. Speaking of which…
- If you want to play the strongest currently unchecked profession or the one that best exploits an as-yet-unnerfed/corrected mechanic (like stealth was, for instance), then you probably need to play them all and just be flexible in swapping from one to another at the drop of a hat. It’s the kind of thing that has the potential to change every reasonably-sized patch.
- Of course, if “this prof sucks now, what should I switch to” is more your way of venting about what’s been changed but that you have no actual intention of actually switching, then it might be clearer to just say that. You’re certainly not alone in being unhappy about those changes, but then it’s fairly rare to be happy about losses in power/utility for your class unless you think they were way overpowered to begin with.
I am not going to lie, thieves are quite fun, especially in WvW when you kill someone in a few hits and get away. The burst is amazing!
Then you go back to your mesmer, and it takes you more than 3 secs to kill someone, and of course you have to watch your health pool too! That becomes a little annoying…
Having said that I play my mesmer more for the challenge and the variety compared with the thief. At least for me!

Not warriors, they’re nerf proof.

Go warrior or guardian they will always be in a good spot other classes will be nerfed if they are stronger then those two. Damage classes will/are getting nerfed based on Warrior, bunker classes will get nerfed if they are close to as good as a Guardian (see ele and eng nerfs)
Play what you’re going to have fun playing. If the recent Mesmer changes have made the class not fun for you, find something else. It’s that simple. Don’t just play a game, any game, if you’re not enjoying it.
I started off as a Guardian and enjoyed it until I got it higher in levels, it didn’t even get nerfed or anything, I just started finding things I didn’t enjoy, like lack of mobility, lack of ranged abilities, consistent but overall low damage output (with the best spike being possibly the easiest thing to dodge in the world). I picked up Mesmer for a change of pace and I absolutely love it.
IMHO, thief is the most nerf-prone class in the game due to the incessant whining about it’s spike damage and it’s stealth. And, it’s been hammered repeatedly with major nerfs — far more than any other class. The internal balance between weapon sets for thief right now is in complete disarray. It’s going to need a rebalance.
That means more change is on the way for thief, just no way to say exactly when it will come or in what form. Mesmer/GS got destroyed by bugs, but Anet promised to address it in the 12/14 patch. That’s good news, but we don’t know if things will be balanced again.
No promises forthcoming on the the deliberate blind, obstructed, and (especially) delay issues, though. So, the class may not be terribly viable in WvW outside portaling for zerg bombing things.
Do it like me, i have 80 thief, 41 ranger, 80 war, 80 mesmer and now leveling 51 elementalist:D So when anet comes with new patch/nerf i switch to class which is least broken:D
Im leveling a thief now, i dont see much reason to play other classes if you are looking for a DPS class that can close fast and escape, you have excellent mobility to withdraw from bunker type specs that you dont particularly want to fight(WvW) like Guardians, and you can choose your targets and drop eye watering DPS on them, even decently geared lvl 80 targets, here are some dmg totals i have taken in about 1.5 secs.

Actualy i am zerker/orb thief full dps but speced for stealth length, crit, regen which makes me quite durable when played right. And yes, why to play something else than thief when i still reach 10k backstabs, i can escape whenever i want, i can reach anybody except d/d lightning elementalist. In PvE i two shot Orr creatures for farming, in Wvw with sanctuary i am helpful and deadly. All you wish for in one class.. still i rolled other classes, now on D/D ele. Why? Simple, after few weaks of killing in WvW the thief is boring, no challenge, rolling same 3-4 skills :/. On the other hand, mesmer and elementalist are uber tought, hard to play correctly and really fun so far
What the hell is wrong with people? You seriously reroll a new class everytime what you currently play gets nerfed? Wow… Pathetic, whats wrong with playing the class that you enjoy? You need to be OP to enjoy the game?

I would normally completely agree with you 100%. I would also go as far as to say it’s their psychological age (child-like even if 40). Some people just don’t grow up in the head so to speak.
However if the spec you enjoy the most is a GS build right now at least in “pvp” this extended delay that has appeared makes it almost useless playing against anyone skilled that knows about it. They can 100% avoid the damage and just rofl at you every time you pop zerker. You can still use it as “shatter” fodder if you’re a glass cannon shatter build. You lose monstrous amounts of dps if you are not a glass shatter build an rely on it’s damage though even in PvE the delay on the whirl can cause the Zerker to miss every mob if they’re being kited now.
There are still specs that work fine. You can still do “ok” using the ranged phantasms instead but against it’s a dps loss in any situation that requires AoE.
TL;DR ~ Some people get hung up on 1 single build and thats what they enjoy thats what they have fun with period and don’t enjoy the others that is their prerogative. For those people I can understand a decision like wanting to jump ship if they rely on the zerker(or warden) right now.
I however still enjoy playing my mesmer when I do.

I have 5 classes that are 80 now. Thief/Necro/Mesmer/Eng/Guardian. Primarily pve, with some wvw with the thief and eng.
My advice is stick with the Mesmer. I just finished leveling my Mesmer today (last char to 80) and found i can steamroller through practically anything in PVE (Orr). I use staff/GS and feel i am equal to any of my other classes.
I though I found the perfect prof for me, with the perfect build and weapon set (Greatsword with light armor, and sword and gun !!!!), mesmer GS was kinda the prof I’ve looked for a long time.
When I found it, Anet took it away frow me.
Bye GW2, I’m sick of your bug, your lags, and your fake balance.

What’s wrong with wanting to be ‘better’? If there’s an opportunity for an improvement in the ability to help my server/guild; what right do you have to call us “pathetic” when all we want to do is be of the most assistance possible. I don’t know about you but i simply cannot enjoy a class if my phantasms miss the dam mob every time i summon it; it’s unreliable, frustrating and most importantly; not enjoyable.
Sea Of Sorrows Commander
“The majestic Mesmer” Once I learned Mesmer will be in GW2 i said “I will buy it” I am 80 level Mesmer full armor and power, with my beloved exotic weapons untill I get the Twilight and I used to be almost happy untill the moronic team of arenanet listen to the idiots haters of mesmers to nerf them… I bought the game for what reason? To play my profession as the worst one? I used to spread chaos and death in PVE and WvW but now I am nothing more than an almost useless profession. My beloved Phantasm Berseker became the worst illusion… my Glamour Skills wants 2 days to recharge…for example the skill "Mass Invissibility’s duration is 5 seconds and recharge in 2 months but the moronic Thiefs’ invisibility duration holds for 20 sec and recharge in 10 sec..oops I am sorry thiefs dont have recharge…very fair…When I play with my Thief, I killed many in WvW with a single hit maximum 3 hits and the most important thing “Noone have seen me ever” Because Thief’s invissibility never ends… but i am borring WvW. Now the most important thing: Since when a mental attacker class (Mesmer) needs eyes to see or ears to hear (Blind condition)? The only thing Mesmers need is a mind, since there is mind in their area they can see through it see what the opponent sees, hear what they hear and use their mind to eliminate the foes, and since when an armor can defend the mind from a mind…For your information arenanet, Mentality or I would say Telepathy in general, uses the mind of the caster to destroy the mind of the victim, there is nothing armor-like to protect a creature from mental attackers (Unless you copy Marvel about the helmet of Magneto) unless an other mentalist (Mesmer vs Mesmer). I suggest you to google to learn what mental abilities are. I also suggest to the president of arenanet to fire the: Programmers (all the game is full of bugs-the next step is to become a virus like Norton…?), the ones who have the wonderfull ideas about the nerf of Mesmers only (I have an idea for that, make the mesmers to dont use weapons, to dont wear armor just to exist to be killed from the other classes..beside this is the final step). And last but not least how about to make taxes in the game, the Waypoints are living organisms and they need money in order to teleport as in town a places….i suggest to increase the amount in 10gold for the nearst waypoint. (Now they will ban me because they know i am right and they can’t respond with a correct answer, but i dont give a kitten) Thank the Gods i pay 17 euros only to buy GW2. And for the ones who will tell me (dont play the game then) I answer now (No YOU dont play games because creatures like you destroy the meaning of the games, go to drink alcohol and smoke so the world to be saved from your meaningless existence).
