I Just want to once again enlight how strong a smal group with mesmers are on the battlefield. I do it with this video.

All i saw was simple hated poral bombing, showing the mesmer is in group in wvw only for feedback, portal and haste. Portal bombing was adressed many times and is expected to get nerfed anyway. Small organized groups will always be >>> some random zerk. Nothing really interesting :/ Personaly, i would take only one mesmer into limited group or none. For example same group size of thieves only would do far better just cluster bomb-spamming. After recent heavy nerfs to mesmer i see this class only as support only and even in that role it is very lacking.

It could be argued that all thieves do is backstab and stealth, all elementalists do is rain AoE and all rangers do is suck.

The fact the mesmer is such an immense force multiplier is still not to be balked at

I’d say Mesmers have another role in WvW: they make a group seem larger than it is, which could affect enemy morale and how likely individuals are to flee. The fact that all enemies are shown as “Invader” or “Defender” could make Clones quite confusing in even small engagements.

Well thing is that that group is hardly not what you describe as a unorgniced zerg mate. It was al the same guildname, they moved as a unit and worked as a team. They also several times djuring the evening tryed portal bomb us withc we countered. Its a tactic game betweeen two organiced teams and in the end we outplayed them.

You cant do this without communication at teamwork. The fact they for a longer time worked effectivly vs desolation team of unorganiced players before we started to fight them is not show here. They was wery sucessful by stack ppl, use teamtactics and use several guardian healing and defensive spells.

So how do you suggest to counter this? 1 Get a huge zerg of your server roll over them (extremly mindless, working due to gamemecanics and culling) or 2 get a organiced team of your own and outplay them. I know for sure what is most fun and productie for the wvwvw sphere. Wvwvw should be about teamwork and tactical gameplay not who have the biggest zerg.

@Embolis, Yes ! so true, exactly what we use. ina 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 a mesmer is easy known and picked out by good players. In a 10 vs 20 the 10 man team with 4 mesmers suddenly have a better chanse and look like a bigger threat with 9 clones.

(btw I tried Staff, but couldn’t get the feel for it. So I had to switch back to my trusty Greatsword for now) :P
