Mesmers rejoice!
True.
But most time before a autochain is done you have to use other skills like the block. This resets your autochain and you have to start again. I think many ppl do not have the right feeling for “now i first use my autochain til the end” and “now i have to use my other skills although my autochain resets”
Edit:
I think the scepter is one of the most skill requiering weapons a mesmer can use.

Lyssa’s Grimoire – a guide every Mesmer should read.
- you won’t use the autoattack all the time, if it gets buffed, it just encourages boring gameplay and likely make Scepter OP with certain builds.
Then what do you do after using skills just dance around creating clones?
The Auto attack doesnt need to be overpowered or anything – what it need is not to be useless which in the case of the Scepter it is, minus the clone it spawns what does it offe? Nothing.
Look at the Auto attacks of the other weapons, Staff has loads of conditions and boons, the Greatsword has very high damage, the Sword has Boon stripping and Vul. The Scepter? A clone every 2 seconds, while that is decent it doesnt change how weak the Auto attack is.
Every 2 sec? More every 3 or 4 :/ It’s slower if you go on max range wich sux even more.
Staff and Scepter aswell GS all have meh auto attacks. Scepter has the worst.
- GS needs like to stack vournability or grant might in a line with the final hit?
- Staff an additional bounce or serious boon durations / more vournability stacks at once
- Scepter a random condition on 3rd hit (1 sec root, 2 sec cripple or 3 sec weakness would be nice) or the damage should get buffed by 25%~ (just aa).
To deal huge nubers shouldn’t be the reason to play a mesmer.
“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”

I wouldnt call doing like 2k damage “Meh” for a range Auto attack. The staff with its Conditions and Boons is very solid as well, works better at mid/close range. I think the Staff and Greatsword are fine the way they are.
The greatsword doesnt need more Vul it already has it on #2 with (when traited) a 6.5second cool down with 3 Stacks of Vul and 3 stacks of might with 3 bounces.
The staff can get an extra bounce along with GS #2 if you take the trait, i do kind of agree that it should be 2 as that is what it used to be i am pretty sure, but with clones out and everything you can stack conditions and boons easily.
2k damage compared to the 3k the sword does, wich also has a cleave and vournability on hit, in the same time is meh in my eyes.
And about the saff – you will allways priorize phantasms over clones don’t ya? So the auto attack should be stong enough to be used by the mesmer only and deal decent damage. Also the vournability debuff is just annoying on the aa >_> Its too weak/short.

Yeah its VERY silly to compare a Melee and a range weapon. The Melee weapons ALL hit harder due to the risk of being in Melee. So it is very pointless comparing a Melee and a Range weapon.
I would take 2k damage and have RANGE than have 3k damage but be in melee. That is how it works. You might be doing more damage but you are also at greater risk.
Vul on the staff for me with 30% Condition Duration lasts over 6 seconds, i think that is solid. The Fury and Might last 4 and 7 seconds thanks to my 45% Boon duration
“- the attack speed is affected by the projectile travel time, which means using it at melee range, it is just as fast as sword autoattack.”
What keenlam pointed out is what makes the Scepter decent if you know how to use it. This is what makes the Blackwater (or variants of) very viable in WvW.
The key is to stay in melee range using scepter to get your clones up faster and having your opponent hit you while you have Scepter #2 block up. Opponents will quickly down themselves (especially thieves).

I’m not sure if im the only one, but I feel there’s no reason to rejoice. Things like “Immobilize stacks 5 times” how many reliable ways do we have to do that compared to other classes? We have the worst condi removal on top of that.
Or “Sic ’Em: This shout now applies 4 seconds of revealed on the targeted enemy”. How is this not an indirect nerf?
Who wants to run around for 3ish seconds casting mantras in the middle of a fight…
Compared to what most other classes got we’re lower than we were before. If they wanted to increase our support why not increase projectile speed on staff a bit.. or reduce the cooldown of sigent of insp by 5-10 second.

While i agree that there really isnt much reason to rejoice, i dont see other classes heaving parties because of overwhelming buffs (cuz there arnt any). Actually, all the class profession forums read like the world is ending.
Honestly, the mesmer has a few issues, but none of those that you listed. We pretty much stayed the same as we were, with scepter getting a nice boost and mantras getting a minor one.

Totally agree with you here, people who have spent extensive time using sword or greatsword will have a hard time adapting to use scepter or staff even effectively. They need a whole new approach. As for me, I love scepter because it fits nicely with my counterplay/deceiving style.
One of my best experience: Revealed my position and invited an enemy thief with Confusing Images (Yes, I’m here and on low health, please HS me), then countered with… well, iCounter, he died before he could stealth away.

How much WvW or PvP have you played since the patch mate? It’s not pretty…especially in WVW 10-15 seconds of immoblize over and over from a single warrior? And i see ele’s and warriors rejoicing everywhere in chat.
Roffles, thats all i can say, my perplexity mesmer needed help devs!!!!1111
Ok so i can block now once every 10 seconds so my torment lasts 12.75 seconds and does 11k dmg if the target is moving over that period.
Do they even play this game? My shatter mesmer was benched ages ago for good reasons, being in stealth is a hell of a lot better than the nerfed version of blurred frenzy. Therefore i run scepter/torch condi’s, with bunker specs outside my condi dmg.
But yeah my scepter …. jeez thats what was struggling and needed some buffs lol.
