Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Hi, after taking a long break from gw2, I’m returning to the game and I was wondering what sort of mesmer builds are popular right now for tpvp and WvW. I used to play PU condition, which was really cool, but I’d like to try something different, like maybe a more shatter based condition build. Also how good are the staff/GS glassy shatter builds I see top level tournament players use?
Another important question are the new GMs, they’re a tad expensive for me since I don’t have much gold, but are any of those traits truly viable? I’m also playing ele a lot too, and I feel like their D/D build has become a lot better due to recent changes it seems, so is there a new mesmer build for these game formats that rivals this? I’m torn between maining ele and mesmer, and because of how time intensive ascended armor/weapon crafting seems to be, I’ll only be able to pick one class to devote ascended and maybe eventually legendary crafting to.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
None of the new grandmasters are actually viable. You don’t need to get any of them.
That being said, maim is a fun trait, and torment shatter builds are fun to play. They’re not strong/viable, but they are fun.
First off the GM’s, they are very situational but not necessarily game changers. A condi shatter build could work with the torment on shatter, but it might not be crazy effective, take a look at osicats condition build. Glassy mesmer builds are very hard to play atm, but you could try a Power PU build. The problem is our best straight damage builds are shatter based which aren’t as good anymore, and the GS/Staff combo requires both exceptional skill and an exceptional team.
I am a new Mesmer player, played mostly Ele so im struggling to adapt to the play style of Mesmer. What’s a strong weapon set? I’m looking for mostly strong solo dps to level on my own so just open pve at present?
Gs?
Staff?
double sword?
^^ How dare you hijack my thread! Leveling as a mesmer was kind of rough, but now that armor repairs are free (they are right?) that should be less awful.
And thanks for the responses, I’ve tried a power PU build and it actually seems pretty solid with more damage than the condition variants but equivalent amounts of survivability. I do miss using staff with it so I may try out the staff GS builds to see if I have any skill with them whatsoever. If not I’ll just stick with PU or go back to D/D ele where I can literally faceroll skills through the attunements and still do well against the average group of enemy players.
^^sorry for the highjack
Thanks for the thread and some good advise posted. I want to try and give Mesmer a chance and not just dump it because it isn’t as obviously strong as warrior or Ele I think in the right hands this class can be great. In fairness I’ve looked in lots of class forums and everyones sure their class has been nerfed by the new patch so we are all in the same boat.
Good luck with your build
Also don’t give up on Mesmer when you meet some Thieves. At the current meta a Thief of equal skill should always beat you, unless you play a stealth build due to how squishy we are and the am mount of active survivability they have through evades and stealth.
I have had a lot of luck with a 4/4/6/0/0 interrupt build with chaotic interruption.
It’s got the tools to handle a lot of encounters, but your success with it directly related with how well you can handle the build.
Heavy condition bursts and lots of aoes are still a problem. But that’s true of most mesmer builds. If you land the first 4~ interrupts against someone though it’s pretty much game.
