The biggest problem I have with this skill, is surviving that first blow.

I like the fact it turns into a Reflect after it absorbs the first shot for the rest of that 4 seconds, something I don’t recall happening before. But taking that first shot comes with a few problems against projectiles that essentially 1-shots you.

Any tactics that use Mimic/Echo, or at least ideas?

I’ve tested and confirmed that Distortion to evade the projectile, means you also don’t absorb it.
An idea I’m toying with is using I.Defender to halve the damage from a hard hitting projectile for later use.

I’m going to try to make use of this strange skill further, but I’m curious if anyone else has been using it and what they have come up with it so far. Especially as its competing with Feedback.

(Strange … bug?… I get at times, is a rather notable drop in damage against targets with the Echo. Its not all the time, but sometimes I get very low damage or the projectile never launching. Not sure if its an actual bug, or something else occurring that I am missing so far.)

It’s an excellent skill but it requires pro reactions and knowledge of the other classes.

Mind you, any pro mesmer in wvw/spvp will be using Mirror anyway.

Well, if you’re using Mimic to soak a kill shot from a Warrior, you’re playing a risky game. I guess the main thing is you should decide whether you’re trying to really use the Echo, or really use the 4s reflect portion.

When all is said and done, I’d generally let Echo copy a weak attack, and just reflect everything else. Seems more reliable and effective overall right?
