Mirage F5 Discussion
Similarly, chrono can’t really control clone damage with dodging. This makes mirage also synergize with DE rather than replace it. So I rather have an alternative choice than direct upgrade from chrono.
Would be hilarious if evasive mirror also works on infinite horizon though, so much reflect.

That’s the first thing I want to test!
Axe skill 3 Axe of Symmetry replaced with a new attack and converted into a new F5 ability so we can actually make real use of the new illusion retargeting.
A good chunk of my time is spent playing Condi Mes as is. Which means playing base Mes or when I do trait in Chrono I don’t often use the f5 aside from the extra phant if I feel like it. Only time f5 is a thing is when I’m quick sharing in CM fracts and raids. So no, losing the f5 will not be an issue for me, personally. The new dodge/ambush mechanic is much welcomed.
When Chrono was first announced, I mentioned I would have preferred a new set of F1-F4 and that CS should have replaced distortion. Especially given that Chrono in PvP is the “shatter spam” elit spec, it would make sense to balance them accordingly.
I also think Mirage should have received a new set of F1-F4. Illusion retarget could have been one of those like F3. F4 could proc mirage. I think it’s too late for this change to happen. What might be an “easier” fix to a greater availability to illusion retarget on all weapons is to have 1 utility skill reworked to have illusion retarget functionality.
Side note, I think this is the first discussion I’ve seen on Mirage that actually looks constructive instead of mindless bashing so ty for that.
The whole point of elite specs is to provide different options and more variety to overall mechanics and gameplay for the class. The way that is going to be accomplished is not always going to be exactly the same. And I’m perfectly fine with that. More than fine with it actually, I prefer that new elite specs differentiate themselves.
So no, I don’t feel Mirage feels “empty” without a F5 or think it needs one. Its getting a unique dodge mechanic instead, and that’s just fine. Its going to be something to adjust to for those who have stuck to Chronomancer since its release and have gotten used to it and only it, but I don’t see anything inherently “wrong” with a new elite spec requiring a bit of time to get used to.
Its hardly something that only affects Mesmer either, its pretty much across-the-board that most of the new elite specs are handling their mechanics changes in a different way than the first. Weaver isn’t getting “burst” skills on their attunements, Soulbeast isn’t getting a resource-using form change, Deadeye isn’t getting another on-dodge mechanic, Scourge is getting normal skills that use resource rather than just getting a new set of skills on a normal Shroud, ect.

+1

They are getting, new mechanics that interact, synergise with and/or change their class mechanic. We are getting a worse dodge.
So i’m wondering :
Is anybody else want the Mirage to get F5 skill in line with the thematic of this specialization ?
And if so what would you suggest as F5 skill ?
May I redirect you to this thread :)

Would be cool if we could shatter ourselves (or at least make it look like it.) to add another layer of deception.
