Mirage is a phantasm build?
Seems very clone focused rather than phantasm…
Its basically summon single target clones to attack instead of summon single target Phantasms to attack.
Its the same as our current DPS spec except slightly easier to set up and still just as uesless outside of 2 or 3 raid bosses. Oh and between the inevatable nerf to ambush attacks due to people already crying OP and the pathetic traits it will eventually end up doing less damage then our current DPS spec.
To me it looked like the Mesmer was attacking through the clones while being invis.
Yes, that’s my fear too, we’ll be instant nerf pinatas. It’s why I’m hesitant to buy the expac.

This.
Anyone who seriously thinks arenanet will let us have serious alpha out of stealth with high consistant damage has no clue how balance works.
Also alpha damage was never our problem as far as short term burt goes. Setup time and consisten damage always have been though.
I’d love to say that some people were calling this early, but I’m still afraid others will call out to the expansion as solution.
I’m excited about mirage honestly. While I’m not sold on it being the dps spec we were told was comind via leaks, it looks like a lot of fun to play in open world PvE at the very least.
Though honestly, its one of the least powerful specs that WP showcased, so if it gets nerfed without the other ones getting nerfed way harder that’s just plain stupid
You mean fun by being an annoying jumping all over butterfly.
This means salt will be real and a top priority for nerfs. Leaving you with nothing. At least i dont see anything more than jumping and swaping all over. Even that might not be that often to be that annoying.
Meh, not every build needs to excel in all content.
I do not raid as I have no desire to at all, but now everyone feels entitled their favorite specialization to be the optimal one.
Not how it works sweeties.

Yeah but.. how much salt? Are all remaining 27 sPvPers going to be upset? All 6 WvW roamers?

Yeah that’s not how it works. YOU CANNOT PLAY THE BUILD YOU WANT! Go meta or go home! The game is kittened!

… and?
I mean, I fail to see the problem here? As long as each class has a raid-viable build (which they don’t, that’s a bigger problem), that’s fine? You want to go raid, you build the raid build, an go kick bosses around.
“Play how you want” has never and will never mean “I can put together some random pile of garbage, call it a build, and expect everyone else to carry my dead weight through content.”
Sorry darling, but we are not talking about trash builds here. We are talking about the NEW elite spec. Get your kitten together before you reply!
Shrug
If the new elite spec isn’t good at DPS, then it’s a trash build for a raid. Not every spec is meant to be used in every part of the game, that’s just how it works in reality.
Well Chrono has a role as support in raids and and condi spam in PVP
Mirage and base Mesmer has a role nowhere. I don’t think its too much to ask that one of them be useful in the biggest part of the game or anywhere really.

Mirage should easily outclass chrono in PvP and WvW roaming. Mirage also looks like it’ll be a strong choice for condie DPS and support I’m WvW group compositions.
Base mesmer is hosed, but so is base everything else, so…

Its hard to tell where everything will fall in PvP but I don’t really see Mirage being better. You are giving up Alacrity and Continuum shift making our elites usable, illusion generation and the defense of shield for a few more stacks of Confusion and torment that is probably going to be nerfed anyway.
Illusions are useless in group WvW, you know this.

I have a feeling that good players are going to be able to use the mobility and offensive pressure of Mirage in a pretty devastating way for PvP. Mirage has a powerful elite that doesn’t need CS, and alacrity has never been a huge factor in PvP builds since well-tank got nerfed. You’ll lose defense from shield, but gain defensive capability from the de-targeting mechanics and strong mobility.

I always theorycraft my WvW setups without counting illusions. Mirage looks like a very possible choice for a good DPS/utility slot in WvW group compositions. It brings good aoe condie pressure just from its skills, powerful defensive mechanics, and still can do shenanigans like aoe boonstrip (as if you need anything but a spellbreaker for that ) and distortion share.
Mirage looks okay, apparently for close range combat. But clone health is so poor even buffed with the +20% extra health trait + 20% extra health utility. Any damaging aoe field and they just pop, and looking at the other classes new specs aoes have increased and just got more damaging and bigger.
What’s the targeting range on jaunt, btw?

I don’t think we know yet. The tool tip was partially cut off in the videos I watched and hid the range. I think 600 would be a safe bet, 900 feels like it might be pushing it and less than 600 seems very restrictive.
Mirage is, basically, a blurr spec. It’s only strength is that it will capitalize on survivability.
