Moa useless now?
It’s still removes one player from a fight.
In a 5v5, moa makes it a 4v5 for 10 seconds.
I don’t think time warp can really be beat though. Love it in wvw especially when I run with warriors.

Yeah, Moa is quite ok now balance-wise, it never was that strong outside of sPvP to begin with (and sPvP should just have sPvP-specific rules for it then).
Compared to Time Warp and even MI, you’ll be backstabbing your team by using it in WvW.
It was always useless outside of trolling people. If you got moa’d then died you were either going to die anyway or for some reason you forgot you can run away.
Now all it does is give the enemy an environmental weapon.
I would have preferred they just removed it and gave us a useful elite. Since nothing is going to beat Time Warp/MI for group support then maybe a nice general purpose elite to help out Mesmers in PvE like Warriors Signet of Rage, especially as we don’t even have a utility that can fit that description. Either that or some clever/interesting elite based around clones/phantasms.
moa was great before the nerf because a moa guy was a 100% kill (amazing against guardians bunker), he couldnt run away when MOA simple like that, just need immoibilize/crippled/stun/chilled and then full burst on him, no one could survive to 10s without be able anything reason why on batle kylo on treb almost any mesmer were using MOA instead time warp.
now a MOA guy is almost impossible to kill because when activated last skill he just disappear from map, seem a rocket bird with nitro on is kitten
after MOA nerf never saw again a mesmer using it because is useless and time warp now is better for all situation even for 1vs1
I’ve found Moa very handy in WvW when I switch it in for particular situations (solo or duo defending mainly).

I use Moa in WvW on thieves mostly. Nothing better than disabling a thief from stealthing or lolteleporting to the other side of the map for 10s. Also fun to watch a thief use dagger storm and jump in a raid then use moa(or any boon removal).
On a side note, what are the new skills?
Moa is still great in sPvP and PvE, you can drop it on a bunker to essentially force them to run or die (15s respawn timers ftw) which guarantees you a capture point… And then in PvE it can be used on boss mobs to make them significantly less threatening… And you know… The lovers fight becomes stupid easy when one of them becomes a Moa…

mesmer has two elite skills, TW and MI. i forgot the other even existed… LOL @Moa good in pve, you can’t even tranform the majority of hard targets and when you can its for 3sec instead of 10 haha what a joke. Been running ONLY TW for over 700h in pve and switch to MI for certain situations (like skipping mobs and bla bla).
Moa is bugged now as of the 3 dec patch. It now causes people to die because it resets their defensive trait line apparently (taking away up to 3000 health).
So finally after all these months of oppression and nerfs, we can lash out at everyone and kill them with our Moa!
Now is the time to cry havoc and let slip the Moa of war!

Oh yes, of that I am certain. I estimate 12 hours at most for the Moa (and other transformation deaths) to be fixed and the Mesmer is back to the broken shell of what it once was
…well, they’ll probably fix the Moa, but they will ‘forget’ to fix the new phantasm bug (the one where they do nothing for 2-3 seconds when summoned) so it makes the Mesmer even more unplayable.

Moa still has two uses, but unless the situation calls for it, I’ve abandoned it.
1) First is it’s an amazing dagger storm counter, and the thief will die because of it.
2) If you encounter a thief who likes to strike/run hide in a keep, hit him with moa and then destroy him.
So there you go, its a single use anti-thief elite :p
Destroy? Have you checked the new moa turbospeed skill?

Moa is hard counter to necro. In sPvP, I generally use it for just that. I don’t feel like dealing with killing someone 3 times over (read: normal hp bar, death shroud, refilled hp bar), so I turn them into a Moa, kill all of their life force, and continue doing everything else I would normally do.

I would like to see an elite skill based around a phantasm or clone too.

I said it before, we have an Elite Glamour, we have an Elite Manipulation, this means we need an Elite Signet / Mantra / Summon. Or we do a small conceptual shift, disable Mantras as a skillgroup (keeping some of them!), establish Illusions as a skill group and add an Elite of those.
Ideas:
Signet of Misdirection
45s CD
Passive: Generate a clone every 6 seconds.
Active: Generate 3 clones.
Mantra of Avoidance
1 charge, 15s CD, normal charge time
Power Haze: Blur out, granting you 6 seconds of partial avoidance against enemies, more the further away they are (<150 = 0% dodge, >900 = 100% dodge, linear scaling). While the effect persists you cannot charge any Mantras.
House of Glass -> Chaos Formation
180s CD
Summon 15 Clones wielding your current weapon, randomly distributed in 600 range around you. These Clones cause no damage, no secondary effects, cannot be used for Shatters or Traits, and will last at maximum 10 seconds.
Chained skill: 4s CD, causes all clones including normal clones to reposition to a new random location within 600 range of you, then continue as normal.
