Greatsword and sword mainhand with either sword or pistol offhand. (pistol is probably a little better)

LOL xD
on a serious note: sword and greatsword. Focus hasa high damage phantasm for aoe situations, and would outshine pistol and sword.

Thank you! Much appreciated!!
I find the pistol very offensive. I far prefer more politically correct weapons, such as the staff.
How is a staff politically correct? It has a disdained opinion of Nords. I would say the focus is far more politically correct.
I believe the most PC of all to be this. Akin to handing your opponent an offering of loot bag.

Except pistol has higher DPS since it hits hard, has a faster channel and recharges faster in addition to 8 bleed stacks (versus the warden’s 12 of course, it’s just the attack has a slow channel). Focus phantasm is a lot like hundred blades – you get a big number but the DPS isn’t particularly extraordinary – a lightning hammer elementalists’s autoattack chain is on-par with hundred blades.

I was talking about aoe situations. Youre not goin to tell me pistol is better than warden in 1vs3, are you :o?
Pistol also has annoying bleed stacks that annoys party members who are condition specced, but thats besides the point.

My bad, had a bit of tunnel vision there
Pistol bleed stacks are great though, having that condi player there well you might as well be 4-manning the dungeon.
I can’t actually remember, but don’t bosses cleanse condtions faster than regular mobs?

If i remember correctly, they dont.
Maybe weakness lasts shorter, but damaging conditions and others dont. I remember kiting that ascalonian fractal boss on my own, perma cripple with 3 berserkers :P.

I’m surprised the iZerkers survived considering he drops fire storms in his final phase.

Final phase he gets to be really focused though. The firestorms are small radius, short duration, high intensity, and everything else he does is more or less single target focused at you.
Sword is the only weapon that actually deals damage for the mesmer. Greatsword is good for pumping out shatter fodder fast for spiking down PvE trash but it’s pretty bad in terms of raw damage, especially since shatter DPS is also terrible.
In terms of offhands, traited pistol = sword > focus > everything else.
Always have a GS, Sword, Pistol and Focus in your inventory and swap them (when out of combat) based on what you’ll be fighting next.
Generally, when you’ll be fighting groups of trash mobs, it’s good to have a GS & Sword/Focus, because both phantasms do AoE damage. And when fighting a champion/boss/strong single mobs, equip GS+Sword/Pistol when at range and Sword/Focus+Sword/Pistol* when meleeing.
- You only need 1 Sword, if you equip only a pistol on the 2nd set, it will use the sword from the first set.

No, you need two swords. And when meleeing you should use sword/pistol+sword/sword unless you need to position the boss at the start of the fight or reflects.

He means that if you’re not using Sw/Sw as one combo, you can just have one sword and have it for both offhands which are not swords.
iLock hits pretty hard with conditions on the target. Is there a point where it will out damage iDuelist?
While I didn’t factor in bleeds from duelist when I tested staff in CoE, using warlock on a boss stacked with conditions will out damage the duelist by about 2k.

In the mists with bleeds calculated in I was figuring 5x conditions is where the iLock pushes ahead of iDuelist. But thats only one test parameter and I’m not sure about scaling.
Blood~
Scepter and torch are offensive with how bad they are.
…oh…oh you mean, Well GS for ranged and Sword for Melee, with pretty much any of the other off hands depending on situation.
Staff is also pretty underrated as a mid ranged power weapon.
I use GS for ranged, sometimes Staff and sword + pistol as my secondary set. with my build those duelist + beserkerer numbers are sweeeet
And i am doing pvp btw ( if someone say that Warden is better, it is not good not being able to move in pvp)
But the staff i see more as a support weapon
Sry for makeing so many replys (and this is one more lol)
