Hello~ I have a GW2 Steel Series mouse and it has 5 bind-able buttons.

I like a lot of people prefer mouse wheel on doge. However the 4 other keys perplexed me a little.

I use keys: 1(key) for auto attack and 2345(keys): as my shatters. While using my weapon skills on my mouse.

“Personal taste aside” is it better or more efficient to just use the default 12345 as my weapon skills and move my 4 shatters to my mouse? and why?

(please no one word answers.)

Don’t think those choices matters too much. 1-5, mouse buttons, and F1-F4 are all pretty accessible in general. F1-F4 depends on your personal habits for whether or not they are fast access.

What really matters is what you do with 6-0.

Neither.

I don’t have a fancy mouse so I may not be the best authority on your setup, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any need to group shatters, weapon skills, and utility skills in the same place. I bind my keys according to what use they have for me, and it didn’t make sense to group all the shatters together since I use some more often. For example, I put distortion on shift because it’s an easy button to hit but it’s not one that I want to be mashing. That said, I don’t roll a shatter build so the shatter buttons generally don’t get prime real estate. But you may use the class differently.

Figure out what makes sense for your play style, learn it, prosper.

Steelseries ftw,1-‘-’ arein reach, but I have to rebind the f keys. Anyway it’s personal preference imo. If you’re fluid with your setup and don’t have issues (targeting, turning, etc) then you’re probably just fine.

That said, you’re wasting keys if you’re playing any class other than ranger, engi, ele, or mesmer. So that might be reason enough to switch them.

I’m running both a G600 mouse and a G13 keypad, so my setup is going to be slightly different than most. However, I currently have my shatters bound on the mouse, and all other skills on the keypad. This has been the easiest for me to use out of all the setups I’ve tried.

I have noticed, however, that once you get used to using a non-standard keyboard/mouse setup, it can be very hard to play up to par when you don’t have access to them. If I go out of town and have to play on a laptop instead of my rig, I’m very, very bad because I’m not used to using the normal keybindings.

I do not have a fancy mouse (only RAT 3 which is a typical 5 button setup) though i have rebound the keys for easier access.

If this would be any help to you this is my key layout:

E,Q,R,Mouse4, Mouse 5, Mouse3(healing spell on mouse wheel click), Shift+E, Shift+Q, Shift+R, Shift+ Mouse3 (Elite).
The Shatters are rebound to 1-4 number keys and the weapon swap is Shift+Mouse4

This does mean that i have to sometimes “play the piano” with my skills but all of them are very close reach and i do not have to stretch my hands to execute anything.

Hope it at least help someone
