Moving forward, what's the next nerf?
Stop being a baby, our class dominates in PVP, they only fixed a blatant BUG and increased our portal CD.
I am proud of my class and regardless of changes, I will adapt and play to the best of my ability

does still dominate though?

The Mesmer class only “dominates” those who have no clue how to fight them. Up against a competent opponent who knows our mechanics, I find that the odds of winning tend towards 50-50 and actually make for entertaining fights to watch as opposed to videos of Mesmers doing full shatters on stationary opponents. Granted I’m no hardcore PvPer, but the number of times I’ve come across people (team mates) fighting Mesmers in non-tournament Heart of The Mist matches without using CTRL-T is appalling.
That said, the latter part of your response gives me the impression that you are either willing to take our continuous nerfs lying down, or that your main is actually another class. I am primarily a PvE player who does some WvW/sPvP to change things up a little, and it does gets frustrating to see our PvE damage (factored over time) constantly getting dumbed down due to all the whining in PvP.

Their next nerf..ehh fix is that mesmer do not any damage anymore. They just have to be pretty and standing around others.. maybe they will introduce a new mechanic that counts your prettiness and the more pretty you are the more chance you have to receive a prettiness aoe looting bubble. With that bubble you can run around (don’t forget “in all your prettiness”) and get a lot of loot..
Hmm, that only works in Orr, I forgot to mention..
Shatters or shattered concentration (boon strip on shatter trait). Shatter nerf might come to iPersona and not shatters directly.
Maguuma
Next mesmer “fix” will be that the mesmer will have a 50% chance to be turned into a Moa himself whenever he tries to use any skill.

Wouldn’t be surprised.
But yeah, I would go with the person above you. Shatters no longer do AOE damage, but only target-specific damage.
Would be the most likely thing to happen :/
If that ever happens, I will let run my female mesmer naked through all Orr..
If they touch us mesmers in such ways, they can have it all..
QQ and QQ and QQ.. but seriously I am not sure what they are thinking/ smoking when they try to do something for the mesmer…
I LOVE my mesmer and I want her to stay competetive in PVE, I do not care about PVP or WVW, but as they are doing it right now with splitting skills between PVP and PVE, PLEASE split it more and more so we can actually enjoy our mesmers again (in PVE)..
Portal’s bound to get another nerf. Extending it’s CD didn’t address ANY of it’s fundamental issues, it was just to pretend they were doing something about it.
Shatter spikes are incredibly powerful in both sPvP and WvW… that’s a possibility. But, my experience is that the stuff people kitten about and gets nerfed often comes way way left of centre; like berserker’s and LoS, cooldown of chaos storm, attack speed of phantasmal mage (lol), Moa.

Honestly I feel like the only possible way of nerfing portals, without breaking their entire functionality is to reduce them to a 1200 range limit. The range that you can use them now is a bit far, I will not deny that.

But they completely suck in PvE, and other classes (coughguardiancough) are getting split PvP-ONLY nerfs, whereas Mesmers are being nerfed in both, despite being incredibly redundant in PvE.
PvE wise the only reason to bring a mesmer now is… time warp? Necros/Guardians do conditions/condition removal better, Guardians do reflect and buffs better, plus healing, virtually everyone has higher DPS.
I have a few 80s, and I feel like a jerk to my team if I bring a mesmer in PvE. I can be so much more useful on anything else.
As someone who pve’s I expect ZERO nerfs and a whole bunch of buffs. I find it amazing that they keep nerfing one of the worst pve classes
Illusion Bleeds still stop doing their damage after the clones die, so I figure the next nerf will be to turn those Illusion Bleeds into a heal.
Then they are going to take Duelist’s Discipline and just fill the description with random letters. I’ve submitted that ridiculous “pitol” misspelling numerous times since the game launched, and the typo is still there. Pretty embarrassing they can’t fix blatant spelling errors however they can find plenty of time to cut iBerserker damage by 50% without telling anyone.
I’m so glad that they boost every other class but they DESTROY my main and favorite class. Thats just super fantastic, the didnt increase a kitten thing for mesmers. I cant wait to log on to my account after the patch and have to re-learn how to play with my new broken mesmer, Yay!
Next nerf? Most likely:
- Glamour skills including Portal would have their cooldowns doubled and durations halved
- Phantasm damage reduced to that of a clone’s and attack once every minute
- Mantra preparation would root the caster to the ground and take thrice as long to ready
- All elite skills would have durations halved and cooldowns doubled
These changes will occur in all PvP formats and PvE.
- Glamour skills including Portal would have their cooldowns doubled and durations halved
The sad thing is, the duration for Glamour skills (particularly Portal) are not what the tool tip claims anyways. Therefore if the duration is being cut in half, they might as well not bother change the description: Portal duration = 20 seconds, actual duration 5 seconds… that sounds about right.
At least we could still beat a Jagged Horror in a fight!

Here. I found a Frig to give you. It’s my last one, take care of it my Hero!
But in seriousness, real Mesmers will adapt to any change thrown at us. We rolled this class because we LOVE this class, not because we have cheap skills. You can tell who rolled Mesmer for the cheapness of the class by who complains about BUG FIXES!
I salute you, aaron o>
Y’know, I wasn’t looking forward to some of these changes even though I honestly do agree with them in the grand scheme of things.
But honestly? Reading this forum over the past couple of days, I actually wouldn’t mind a few more nerfs, just to weed out the chaff from the mesmer player base. At least after that we’ll know the only people left are either hardcore or hipsters. xD
So let’s see… I’ll go with:
- longer Blink cooldown
- capping the number of projectiles reflected by Feedback
- Illusionary Persona duplicates core shatter effects, but no longer benefits from secondary shatter effects from traits, and no longer allows shatters to be used without illusions.
- Illusionists Celerity reduced to 10%
- Sharper Images now has a reduced chance to cause bleeds proportional to the number of attacks generated by the same skill for any ability that hits more than once.
There. That should do it.

Any change to shatter or clone viability will be inconsequential because as of this patch we no longer have illusions when we need them.
“you can’t summon that, you are blinded”
“you can’t summon that, you were blocked”
“you can’t summon that, your opponent dodged”
“you can’t summon that against an invulnerable target”
In more seriousness, looking at the sPvP forum the current hot topic seems to be mesmer shatter builds being OP.
Given the general trend that “Whatever is pissing off the sPvP’rs and WvW’rs is next to get nerfed”…
…yeah.

You know, calling people that want to voice a complaint over blatant bugs (with terrain los issues and berserker not hitting on its first 2 attacks) fotm rerollers isn’t a good way to make an argument. If the changes to mesmers actually reflected what is stated on the patch notes, a lot fewer people would be complaining.
I prefer running with staff so I’m not affected as much, but my heart goes out to you GS users, especially in WvW. Hopefully they get that kitten fixed quick.
