I run this build for both PvE and WvWvW (works reasonable well for 1 on 1 and zergs). The first time I ran AC with my guildies, I found that I was often the last person alive while we were figuring out the fights (we don’t read the wiki for info, we enjoy learning it ourselves). Since then I’ve been refining my build based off the idea of not being the best at pew pewing mobs down but to be able to survive prolonged fights and bring utility to aid my group.
I typically use staff & sword/focus (or pistol for faster regen). Superior Rune of Dwayna.
The 10 points in Domination is mainly for the 15% extra illusion damage. I tried some builds without this but I felt that I killed too slow when soloing.
20 points in Dueling. Sword cooldown reduction so I can get temp immunity to damage faster. 15 points for the bleed so I can contribute to damage. 20 points for clone on dodge, really helps with surviving and keeping mobs/bosses off me.
20 points in Chaos. 10 point ability for either 50% falling damage (great for escapes in PvP, exploring, jumping puzzles) or Illusionary Defense for reduced incoming damage. 15 points for protection on regeneration (plays off my inspiration traits). Chaotic Damping for toughness and staff cooldown reduction.
15 points in Inspiration. 10 points for Medic’s Feedback so when I’m still standing I can revive allies with a little protection. 15 points to get regen and protection off my Chaos trait.
5 points in Illusions to get illusions out faster. Combined with the cooldown reductions on my weapons, this usually lets me have them out as fast as they get killed and keep mobs off me.
For abilities I run with Ether Feast. Decoy: I always keep this slotted, has saved my life more times than I can remember. Other slots vary based off what we’re fighting.
