Ok, first time poster here so bear with me. I took a general look around the forums but found no other thread, so here goes:

Mesmer clones/phantasm sometimes spawn naked and does nothing in tournaments. This effect lasts through the whole match.

My speculation on this issue:

I highly believe this has something to do with illusion coding related to PvE/sPvP gear. Pre-14 Dec. patch, the coding split and clearly identified PvE/sPvP gear codes… and come 14Dec. patch, some bug appeared in it.
The result? Illusions attempt to spawn using PvE equipped gear in sPvP, fails, bugs out and spawns naked doing nothing.

-Details: This bug occured in a free-tournament match I joined, and lasted throught the whole match. Tested ONCE in a normal sPvP match and the illusions worked properly. Not sure if related to hotjoin/free/paid tournies.

Needless to say, I looked & felt like a total kitten doing pathetic damage the whole match. I almost felt as if the clones spawned with Rick Astley’s face and most famous music playing.

Did some further testing, and came up with new speculations on this bug. I did another free-tourny and the same bug occured again. Now I believe this code is related to the new “no weapon / trait swapping restriction” introduced to tournies.

Same issue happened to me here. phantoms and clones are naked with no weapons or armor and stand there doing nothing in free tournament the whole match. it makes you feel like your team is playing 4 against 5 .

i know that balancing and fixing proffesions are not easy and thanks for all the hard work but i hopefuly wish this issue will get addressed soon enough other wise mesmer class will not be there in tournament games cause this is seriouse .

I can confirm that this is an issue. Not only was I in that match with Noince, I was in a couple last night where the same thing happened. Suffice to say it is an automatic loss, please fix asap.

i can also confirm this from last nights games the clones stand there naked and do nothing until u shatter them, was hoping it wouldnt be here after patch but ;(

Hope we get an official response ASAP. This bug is so game-breaking, it deserves a hot-fix patch just for itself. =(

No need for apologies Noince as it was obviously not your fault. Especially since I imagine that this could be one of the biggest complaints after the patch, given how many teams use mesmers.

There are 2 threads on the bug forum, maybe they will respond today… I’m gunna keep bumping it till they do.

Is there any way to reproduce this bug? Perhaps special weapon combinations or utilitys or something like that? Bug didnt happen to me yet.

Confirmed this problem. Naked illusions that only stand in place in spvp.

Hence why the original poster postulates that it’s probably related to the trait/gear swapping code, since that isn’t applied to sPvP just tPvP. This bug pretty much makes tPvP unplayable for a Mesmer and I personally don’t want to play sPvP because zerging for glory is boring.

Edit: Title should probably read tPvP Mesmer Illusions broken (or something to that effect since it’s not sPvP at all).

This is ridiculous and needs to be hotfixed ASAP, this completely breaks the whole class in TPVP right now. All morning our Mesmer player tried swapping to a different class (he just doesn’t have the experience on the other classes like he does the Mesmer) and it kittened us bad, he ended up swapping back and playing with naked clones for the rest of the morning. It was bad, the mesmers survivability comes from those clones, they don’t have the tools to survive focus fire like other classes do.

Side note: I’m frustrated, but it was hilarious seeing a bunch of players run away with 3 bikini clad “girls” chasing them.

Played paid tournaments and won 2 with bugged mesmer this is amazing, yet all 5 paid tournaments I suffered loss of clones/phantasms all were naked, only way to do damage with mesmer is autoattack or shatter, naked clones all over place, seems like every other team on paid tournaments already switched mesmer to other classes.
Got this bugs on stream videos and can provide links.Tho I must say it is fun to watch naked sylvari standing and eyeballing downed opponents;P

This needs to get fixed ASAP. This is such a crucial part of tournament PvP. I really hope anet doesn’t wait DAYS let alone weeks to fix this. We really need to hotfix this. Every patch is just slowly killing the pvp community more and more and it has so much potential :/

Working as intended. Provided that naked non-functioning illusions and a broken mesmer class was the goal.

Oh gods I’m loving being kittened so much. My NAME is kittened arbitrarily. . . best Kitten EVER! ! ! Ahem. . . back on topic, Wise made a good point, this might have been the idea in the first place, or more accurately, that leaving Mesmer broken for tPvP for a few days might be a really good idea. First this will have us Mesmers playing other professions and getting even better at beating them when they do fix Mesmer, but second and more importantly, to find out how much of an impact Mesmer makes in a team composition. If you win just as well without a Mesmer then really it’s the style of the Mesmer that you like better, not that they are overpowered or anything at all.

That being said, it probably is a simple enough fix if they have the people to devote to it away from the PvE events. This is a very exciting time to be a Mesmer! We could be on the verge of a sweeping change to Mesmers everywhere! (Don’t believe the hype, I’m not getting my hopes up. . . I am getting my Ele up though!)

Ok, so its been 23hours now, almost a full day since I have posted this bug, together with screenshots and suggestions on how this bug occurred… and not a SINGLE official response?

To be honest, I expected such a serious bug like this to be rectified within 24hours. Wouldn’t basic common sense point towards the tournament weapon/trait lock-down feature being reversed until this issue is fixed?

This bug is so severe, it basically prevents Mesmers from having any meaningful tournaments at all. If issues as game-breaking as this is unable to get a prompt response/fix, how hopeful will this mean for other issues? I mean, you don’t even need to play a Mesmer or have much PvP experience to know something very wrong is happening.

I guess this just goes to show how much resources/empathsis is placed on tPvP (considered not as income-generating?) in GW2. Furthermore though this only occurs in tPvP, I’m sure all players will get demoralized as many other such bugs infest GW2. When GW2 just launched and the 24 Karma cultural weapons incident occurred, A-net’s swift response greatly impressed me and I thought this game could’ve been something special. Many bugs since launch across all classes have been posted, stickied, “taken-note of” for months, and hung out to dry. Please, do not let GW2 become something for A-net like Diablo3 did for Blizzard.

OK, on a more serious note, hit GS sword in PvE sometimes and then immediately (while the blade still flies) active an instant racial elite transform like Melandru’s; then observe how the atypical clone behaves…familiar?

@Zid.4196: As I said in my openning post, I highly believe this bug is linked to tournament weapon/trait lock-in feature introduced this patch. This feature is present in both free & paid tourny from the patch notes. As I do not have a paid-tournament team, I am unable to show you screenshots but I strongly believe this will occur in paid tournies too. Perhaps some kind soul with a tournament team could burn 25tickets and 4 other people’s time to slap a screenshot? Maybe with gems(real-money related) on the line A-net would be more likely to respond faster.

Sure, I’m not severely affected by this bug alone but its adding on the mountain of bugs since launch and slowly, but surely, worsening my impression of GW2.

Maybe they don’t know where the problem comes from yet? But an answer would be nice nonetheless. Last time I checked, they didn’t even answer in the game bug forum either.
I don’t want to sound negative or rude but when moa/other transformations were resetting trait lines last patch, it got fixed real quick.

They dont care mate they only care about the pve event, or they would have hot fixed it by now as its gamebreaking.

The fact that anet has not responded to a bug that makes it impossible to use a mesmer in a tournament with at least an acknowledgement of the problem is causing me to severely rethink my decision to play this game, honestly.

This is a pretty good way to say “we don’t care about our customers”. The message may be unintentional, but that’s the message.

I guess this may be it… “E-sport PvP” in GW2 can just be canned and thrown away. sPvP in GW2 is already dying due to many reasons and poor response as shown in this thread might as well be the final pushing factors to kill sPvP. Honestly, I have lost all hope in the possibilitly of competitive sPvP in GW2.

Just rename sPvP to Casual PvP (cPvP) in GW2 and save the grace of “Structured” PvP by introducing it in a expansion pack. I believe the monetary value of an expansion will provide motivation to make proper competitive PvP possible.

Its ok to need time to fix, but no response at all? I don’t expect the specific bug-alert staff to be on daily, checking every forum for bugs but… I’m sure a moderator had been active in Mesmer forums locking away a thread labelled “Next patch to officially rename our class” for no real goal in the thread recently while my topic was up. It kinda felt like, “oh this is not my responsibility so I’m not going to post anything”. A simple post just saying “related staff will be informed” goes a long way.

They’ll fix it once they fix the exploration star.

We used 2 mesmer in our team, now we’ll use 0 since rng can make you useless and lose.

Honestly ,the sooner the better.
WvW and PvE can surprisingly be balanced in a very very similar manner (both have to revolve around group~zerg combat). sPvP is the odd one out, causing all kinds of balance issues.

Meh… still no solution they’re all on holiday now more than likely. Suppose I should take a holiday from GW2 as well.

Shame I hadn’t planned on playing another game so soon… any recommendations? I haven’t really been looking until now, but I can’t play like this.

Apparently they are aware of the bug and Noince was right – it has something to do with the new block on weapon swapping.
