Necromancer VS Mesmer & Condition Damage
Or, if that is the playstyle you desire, with long lasting dots, you could play a necromancer instead. From what I understand, the classes were made to be notably different from each other and to make a mesmer more like the necromancer seems to defeat that purpose.
Have to understand what else your abilities bring to the table.
Consider a group fight at clocktower for instance.
Necro can turn boons or bad conditions into conditions for targets, and apply those as strong long lasting conditions to a targets in aoe.
A condition/boon staff mesmer with 3 clones and illusionary elasticity can be pumping out tons of boons and conditions that SUPPORT the group.
3 clones plus the player autoattacking is 16 random conditions for enemies and boons for allies per autoattack. Not even including a chaos storm.
Yes there is a lack of control over our conditions and boons, that’s why mesmers when running a condition build are more support oriented than a necro.
Watch pvp vids of necros and mesmers as they become more common, figure out which play style you like the most.
Illusory Elasticity doesn’t apply to clones, Cartel Sunny.
Good to know. -3 then.
I have played a little bit with Mesmer condition but does the staff #2 – Phase Retreat clone, place the exact same Winds of Chaos as you? (As in – the clone’s is just as powerful as yours?)
If the clones is powerful, in a short time you can have a few Mesmer throwing tons of boons and conditions out as was stated before.
Clones use the old version of Winds of Chaos, the one that travels along the ground and completely fails against any minor change in elevation.

Is this on purpose? Do you think that if we ask politely enough we can get this changed?

No idea, but I really hope so
[Evil Elf – 80 Mesmer][Evil Fluffy – 61 Necromancer] Underworld
Mesmer was designed as the manipulator class, and it’s ended up as just another (slightly harder to use) burst class. If you want long range pressure and manipulation of your foe, Necro is the best bet atm. I’ve got one going now and I’m stunned at how similar a conditionmancer is to the old domination mesmer of GW1.
