Need a few good advices
Well i say it depends on what you want to do. in general for me phantasm builds are great for fractals n such but i say go definitely shatter if you are doing dungeons because it helps with trash mobs. you can go 20/20/0/0/30 traditional or the 10/30/0/0/30 build which ever one fits yoru fancy and then grab all the usual utilities such as veil or portal feedback etc. signet of inspiration as well. Basically you are a support spec which can dual up as good dmg spec. However if phantasm is more your fancy/ you are gonna get into fractals and higher level dungeons then the spec you use is fine because it provides great burst. A tip is for phantasms make sure you run signet of ether so u can double up on phatnasms for good dmg basically once you get those phantasms out all three then u can realy start to do good burst and use your feedback utiliies and focus swiftness and signet of inspiration for boons etc for utility which is what mesmers are really useful for.

So in general there are a few basic builds to choose from:
10/20/0/25/15 Sword/focus + Sword/sword
That’s sorta the most general use one. It’s pretty good in pretty much every situation. You can’t really go wrong with that.
0/30/0/25/15 Sword/focus + sword/sword or Sword/pistol
This is a bit trickier to run. You’ll be wanting to use mantras to maximize your damage potential there, but it optimally can do a bit more damage than the first one.
You never ever want to use a shatter spec in any sort of PvE content past open world exploration, as it simply doesn’t do very good damage. You’ll generally want to use zerker armor, although assassins armor actually has slightly higher dps in some situations.
Actually, aslong as you go for at least:
10/20/0/20/0
you can’t do anything wrong (except for traiting in chaos … don’t do that! ò.Ó)
10/20/0/25/15 and 0/30/0/25/15 (2nd I really don’t like tbh) are pretty much what Pyro said up there. I played them both for a long time, especially the first one.
As for me I prefer 10/30/0/30/0 since I think it’s a waste to trait into illusions. You actually sacrifice too much damage and utility for the 20% cdr on illusion summoning skills. Since you are (at least I am) swapping weapons anyway all the time to proc sigil of battle, it won’t really matter how long the CD’s on your phantasms are. Also inspiration has the best utility traits the mesmer has. Swap them to adapt to the situation, I sometimes even with I could have 4 of them
In the end – pick a build and play your own playstyle – aslong as you do the main mesmer things like timewarp, reflection, pulling, get rid of condition, dps and don’t die – everything is ok dude
