So I made this build today and wanted to ask the Mesmer community if it’s any good and where to make changes, if any, to the build. (I’m new to mesmer and only level 20)

20 Domination (Mental Tormet, Empowered Illusions)
20 Dueling (Desperate Decoy, Deceptive Evasion)
10 Chaos (Debilliating Dissapation)
0 Inspiration
20 Illusions (Master of Misdirection, Phantasmal Haste)

Generally what I’m trying to achieve with this build is a strong Shatter build for PVE with Scepter/Focus + Staff as my weapon sets. Any further advice anyone can give would be great.

Mental Torment – Mind Wrack causes 20% more damage.
Empowered Illusions – Illusions inflict 15% more damage.
Desperate Decoy – Cloak and leave a Clone behind at 25% health.
Deceptive Evasion – Summon a Clone when you dodge.
Debillitating Dissapation – Clones apply a random conditions when killed.
Master of Misdirection – Confusion you inflict lasts 33% longer.
Phantasmal Haste – Phantasms recharge 20% faster.

(Sorry for no link to a trait calculator but I could not find any that were currently working or that were in english)

Your build is very close to mine, except my build focuses on clones being killed, not shattering.

  1. Mental Torment is good for your build, if you focus on shattering then maybe spec more traits in the illusion trait, the ‘Shredding recharge rate’ reduces the cooldown for your shatter skills.
  2. Empowered Illusions is good if you’re summoning phantasms because that skill applies to phantasm damage. Seeing that clones don’t deal damage it doesn’t apply to them. And I don’t think the skill applies to Shatter, I could be wrong.
  3. Desperate Decoy I think that’s a nice skill to have for your build.
  4. Deceptive Evasion is great, I use it myself cause it really helps spam clones.
  5. Debilitating Dissipation is great if you’re clones are killed before you shatter them.
  6. Master of Misdirection, not sure about this one. If you’re going to use Mind Wrack a lot it’s probably a better choice to get Precise Wrack.
  7. Phantasmal Haste applies to the Phantasm attacks so if you’re not planning on using phantasms for your damage output then maybe get another trait. Id rather have those 5 points in Inspiration because it gives retaliation to your clones and phantasms, so if they do get attacked the damage is mirrored onto the attacker.

Only other change I’d suggest is changing Empowered illusions to either ‘Rending Shatter’ to cause vulnerability or ‘Shattered Concentration’ to remove a boon.

In reply with trait calculator I used Guildhead. Sadly it’s not updated to most recent changes.
