Need help dealing with conditions
There’s a reason why nobody uses power shatter anymore. You’ve just encountered it.
To deal with conditions, you need to trait inspiration for shattered conditions. You could alternatively dedicate multiple utilities to it, but then you’re sacrificing other things.
Well considering power shatter isn’t really meta by anyone who has a clue how to play mesmer, could you post your build so people can see what you’re currently using?
Personally I run chrono, inspiration and domination at the moment. The trait that really matters is the first minor and the middle option in master tier. It should provide enough personal cleanse to survive if you use blocks, evades and invulns properly.

Wow that is an old build, haha. That’s outdated by like a year and a half now.
Use the inspiration traitline as mentioned above since you get the restorative illusions as well as mender’s purity. So every shatter removes condi, every heal removes condi. For both you and your team.
If you’re up against a condi-heavy team then depending on the situation you may have to just spam shatters to get condis off you without leaving any time to build phantas/clones for the full effects.
And don’t listen to these angry naysayers, you can play power shatter just fine, but try to focus on the power bit more than the shatter bit since it’s extremely unreliable against people that notice when your clones start homing in and dodge.

Whether playing power, condi or hybrid builds, you can use a combination of consumables, ie Melandru/Hoelbrak/Antitoxin runes with Saffron Bread/Poultry Soup/Sweet Bean Buns for passive duration reduction. In particular with Time Marches On it causes cripple/chill/immobilise to fall away very fast.
In addition to this Inspiration is of course the way to go, and also can trait Mantra Heal. If using Torch and Illusions then also trait torch. If you really want to be excessive then also take Mantra of Resolve.
x/Inspiration/Chrono is as solid for power as it is for condition or hybrid play. Yes it’s not going to provide the same offence as Domination+Duelling, but stat damage is high enough in wvw that it really doesn’t matter.
With all of the above I find I have good sustain against condi builds unless outnumbered.
Sure you sacrifice some damage if taking those foods/runes and Inspiration, but I value survival more than time to kill.

Not to be that guy but… Reread the OP. He’s talking about WvW not PvP which is what that video is about. Two completely different animals due to armor, rune, and food availability. So unless he’s running in an organized group(don’t think so) then condi is best. No angry naysaying just the facts.
Not too much to mention that others haven’t.
Some of my guild use hoelbrak runes, saffron bread and chrono to get -40% all condition duratio and -65% condition duration on soft CC. This lets them use either mantra of resolve or just kite and wait out conditions without being too stressed by them. They can run domination, duelling and chrono just fine and don’t have too much trouble with conditions.
I on the other hand run scholar runes so I choose to pick up the inspiration line instead of duelling and run a maintenance oil with some assassins armour for extra crit chance I lack by not having duelling. I run ether feast for the big heal and if I find conditions are a real problem I switch to mantra of restoration.
I take cleanse on shatter, sometimes I will trait glamour master and take null field if my group is more susceptible to conditions instead of mantra of distraction. If I am using 2 mantras I take restorative mantras otherwise just pick whichever adept you find you’ll get the most use from.
Oh and I pick life steal food because if gives you a bit more sustain in addition to the heals from inspiration.
Another big tip not mentioned yet is know what skills stack a lot of conditions and when players will use these. A lot of the time they can be evaded, blocked or interrupted so you don’t have to worry about conditions if they never get applied. Likewise learning when to cleanse is a good idea. Example being that necros mostly stack bleed and poison for damage, cleansing at 3-5 stacks is not a good idea, wait for them to build up higher then cleanse. Conditions are cleansed on a first in last out way so if 10 stacks of confusion were put on you, then 4 others, you’d have to cleanse the 4 before you hit the confusion. Sometimes waiting out some stacks to cleanse a higher and more lethal stack is needed.
Oh and if you don’t have heart of thorns and thus don’t have chrono then run inspiration instead of chaos if you find conditions are really harsh. You’ll probably want traveler runes at that point too.

This is not correct. Condition cleansing priority seems to be fairly random with a tendency towards stack size, not FILO.

The first part about runes and food is a moot point. Usually if running condition build then the food runes of the applicator will just negate yours. Thus still having to manage a condition build with 2k conditions ticking on you.

Even so, it’s enough that chill, immobilise and cripple barely stick to you so cleanse can be saved for other conditions.

When did that change? Pretty sure you always used to cleanse the conditions with the last ones applied being cleansed first. Ah well good to be corrected.
You can possibly try mantras? Dueling + Inspiration with Harmonious Mantras and Mantra of Resolve is stupidly strong condition removal. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you take at least one other mantra, though (and for that, I’d recommend Mantra of Distraction).
I wish I came across so many condi builds whilst roaming. Most of the things I come up against are full on glass maniacs and fights last all but a few seconds. It’s quite boring.
Anyway, simply taking Inspiration can trivialise some encounters against condi builds so that’s obviously your first move. You shouldn’t have too much trouble against the things you list with Inspiration. Except condi trapper Thief which you should just ignore and walk away from immediately. That person is not there to fight, they are there to, err, still don’t quite understand why anyone would bother playing it.
