Need help with a shatter build
This build works with staff but you can also try it with GS.
Some people like GS/Sw+Torch too. Its good to practice.
I may try out the GS.
to add: my mesmer is only level 20, So i’ve been doing all of this in spvp for practice. I’m not a far of the limited stats, but it’s good practice.
I assume zerker stats for spvp is the way to go?
Yeah once you get to 80 you will have no problems creating clones to shatter, I use gs to open on my target so #2, then #4 dodge and shatter mind wrack (there is a trait to create clones on dodge later and also mind wrack does more damage + shattter effect also on yourself)
This little combo alone will destroy a glass opponent if they dont dodge any of it.
I agree with you about ileap, the new changes to it are terrible and I find myself failing to get my blurry frenzy off as well as I used to before.
Allocating your last 4 trait points might help :P
In seriousness (I’ll presume you meant 4,4,0,0,6) staff is an amazing defensive weapon. Staff clones will keep sustained pressure up while your burst is on cooldown, phase retreat is just absolutely amazing and a well placed chaos storm creates huge problems for enemies.
You might want to try dropping s/p for greatsword. This way you can do all your clone generation and dps from range and just dodge in for your shatter bursts. Take IE with this weapon setup, extra might stacks+permaburn+extrableedstacks+extraburst with mirror blade xD

Personally I prefer GS rather than Staff because you cannot chase fleeing targets with Staff and that’s way too annoying to me. Staff is stronger in teamfights though. For the secondary weapons, I use Sword + pistol but I started with sword + torch (torch gives you way less damage but a additional stealth, which is quite handy for starters).
As for the gameplay, I usually engage like this : GS #2 and #4 + mind stab => switch weapon, use pistol #4 + #5 => then sword #3, leap => sword #2 => mindwrack+Diversion (just for the 1 sec daze). Then I improvise. That opening atomises glassy builds if they didn’t see it coming with no stun break.
Of course you have to adapt depending the situation, using decoy or blink to engage is sometimes needed for exemple(against a ranger who saw you coming mostly). Etc etc
Mesmer is really a class you have to play over and over again to get the grip of it.
Have fun!

Hello everyone. Midna here. Lol why does everyone say use greatsword #2 then #4? You should use greatsword 4 followed by 2 so you have a phantasm out for the #2 attack to bounce off of. Then you can use the #3 dodge then the third shatter ability for vulnerability followed by more clone putout and a mind wrack so you get the most bang for your buck.

Might

no, then the phantasm gets the might when its on CD and you wont get any benefit from this. Mirror blade will bounce off you and still hit the target a second time for move damage on the return if YOU have the might stacks.

save boon removal for when you need to cancel something important, no need to spam it for the damage. i wouldn’t waste F3 either just for vuln unless you already have whatever it is or whom ever it is on the ropes, its better served to screw up a rotation or a heal before you do your bigger bursts.
hope that helps you understand.
