Guild Wars 2

I am level 20 and so far have been using mostly staff/ sword+pistol. I recently started using more staff/ sword+sword. I like staff to pop a warlock and have chaos armor. I have been reading some of the forums and see people talk about the balance/ synergy between the weapons they use for traits/ armor/ etc and am not sure if I am using a bad combination.

I dont use shatter very much which may be foolish of me, I am not that skilled as of yet but I am trying to learn. I also like greatsword but since the main attack works based off higher range=better I find unless in a group event, i get more from sword/sword since mobs tend to always get me in melee range.

I would appreciate any help/ advice on how to make my character better. I like a combination of solid damage and utility.

Here’s a build you might try:

Mesmer GS/S+S build

I put Blade Training in there since you like sword+sword. With this build I wouldn’t worry about shattering because it has traits to increase Phantasm DPS as well as increase your DPS for every illusion you have active. I would suggest though that you get in the habit of shattering when the foe is low health, just to finish it off a tad faster since the illusions will die anyway.

That makes sense. What are your thoughts on using the staff?

Also when i get into dungeons what primary role do mesmers take on? Damage/ control?

Last do you find a better way to go than s+s| gs?
