Hello fellow Mesmers,

I’m looking for some direction now that I have hit 80. I realized that since I have hit 80 I did not really take the time to take another look at my traits and skills, and I have no idea what kind of gear I should be working toward.

I mostly PvP. I want to be as effective as I can be in dungeons, though I have not done any fractals and don’t know if I will any time soon.

I don’t do a whole lot of PvP but I do like to jump in WvWvW every now and then.

So those are the areas I would like to be as effective as I can be.

When I did 80 and did the Blathazar event for the first time I just ended up buying a few suit of the Armeggedon Blathazar gear. I knew it probably wasn’t the best but I had the Karma and it was a great way to get a full set of 80 gear.

I have been running some dungeons already and I already managed to pick up a dungeon great sword and regular sword, working towards a focus.

So what should I be working towards? Should I have a full suit of Berserkers?

My traits are 10/10/0/30/20, should I be making some changes there?

My ultilties are blink, deocy and timewarp and then I switch up the last skill based on need.

I would really appreciate and guidance or advice on how to improve my character from here.

I would go for a shatter build first. Look at osicat’s shatter build.

The shatter builds are good general utility builds. If you want to do some PvE, it’s a good setup. The only thing that I think it’s not optimal for is WvW with a zerg (but it’s good in WvW generally)

It’s described here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-WvWvW-Pve-Shatter-Cat/page/19#post1822666

Your armor is not great for a shatter build. But you can reuse the chest piece.

For Shatter cat, I would get Berzerker’s shoulders, gloves, and boots. Keep the armageddon chest piece. For the legs and shoulders, I don’t know. Legs are the worst for critical damage, so I would get knights for the legs and mask, but others may disagree.

However, your armor is good for a confusion / glamour spec. It uses a lot of rabid armor, so you’re half way there. (Balthazar has three rabid pieces, out of four available from temples.) Kylia has a good build. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DN736Yg57RcQ

If you want to live forever, you get try this one. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-The-Immortal-Mesmer-Build/page/1

Thank you for the info, I’ll take a look at those links and figure out what I think suits me the best.

When people talk about Beserker’s, Knights, ect.. is that the armor you buy with badges of honor inside wvwvw?

Different prefixes have different attribute bonuses.

Berserker’s armor is Power, Precision, and Critical Damage, which is purely offensive.
Knights armor is Toughness, Power, and Precision, which is more balanced.

You can buy any of the armor from WvW for badges and some money (I think 1 gold per piece).

You can buy Soldier’s gear (Power Vitality Toughness) for just badges.

You chest piece from Balthazar should be Power Vitality and Toughness (same as Soldiers).

You can also craft the gear using Tailoring and it can be obtained from dungeons.
Crafting – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exalted_armor
Dungeons are listed here – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_armor_sets
For example, Citadel of Flame allows you to exchange dungeon tokens for Beserker armor.

I apologize if you already know then but if you don’t you should check out the wiki on different armor stats before you buy anything more.

The stats you select dictate your effectiveness more than anything else (except maybe traits)

Edit: I just checked, it’s badges plus slightly less than 1 gold per peice.
