Tried it yesterday out of curiosity.

I have to say I liked it. Not for the 2 sec reflect, which is nice after all. It does what mirror does and is usefull, nothing to say.

But the activation effect is what I abused most of all. It let you re-use an utility skill used within 10 seconds after activating it.

For examples 2 blinks or 2 decoys within 10 secs is awesome, 2 null fields (traited for super speed) or 2 SoD for chain stunning someone for example, and so on. It stimulates creativity! Go on and tried yourself. It’s far from useless now, and since many of us run with no condi removal a 3rd slot can be booked by mimin, which isn’t situational anymore.

I like it to buy my problem is I keep forgetting to activate it before using the utility skills so it become pointless.

Still trying to get it in my head to activate it then us skill. Other than this simple problem it super good with my build.

Is absolutely stellar. Double-Feedback alone gives it plenty worth, but so do double-signet-of-dom for 6s of stun, double-Nullfield, double-Veil and double-Blink. Or even double-Mirrorimages for clone burst.

Its a shame that we cant double cast heals orc elites but i admit that would be pretty powerful.

i’m a primary dungeon runner, so my opinion is a bit focused on dungeon content:

the idea is great but there are too many issues with it atm.
for example if u cast you elite afer mimic you set mimic on cd without getting anything. same with mantras/heal.
also it often happens, that you cast the skill you want to mimic twice with one klick, so you waste your second cast without being able to avoid (the 1sec cd seems bugged)

finally to realy get use of it i’d say it has way to high cooldown. 90 sec usually means you can use one utility twice every 4th time.
i’d love to get it on the same cd like the skill you used , so if u use nullfield mimic set on those 32sec cd.

like it is, its only usefull in very few situations, like larger skips or when you want to travel a bit faster using blink.

I really like it. It’s a much more Mesmery application of the skill.

Also – I hated the old version. People only liked it for the potential to channel a block which wasn’t even a documented aspect of the skill, just the result of how it was poorly implemented.

Works for me, tbh. At least it finally “mimics” stuff.

I now find myself using it almost daily in my dungeon runs, especially in Arah trash runs. Double Veils with PU are amazing for pug carries. Do the whole run without even stopping for stealth, just run through

Now Mimic is a very tempting utility option.

The recharge is just too long. If we had more than THREE utility slots, sure. But I can’t justify taking it over something else. For me, spending a slot to do something twice isn’t as good as being able to do a completely different thing in most cases.

Haven’t used it but I think the reason above is something that would hold me back from trying it out. A lot of times you don’t know beforehand that you’re going to need or want double of a utility spell. It’s only after you’ve used the spell do you realize that using Mimic would have been nice. I think the skill would work/flow better if it duplicated the last utility used within 10 seconds instead of doubling your next casted utility spell.

FWIW, you can get the cooldown down to 72sec if you trait for it

It’s great for jumping puzzles because it activates when you cast Portal Exeunt. So you can cast Portal Entre, jump and fall. Then you hit mimic and Portal Exeunt to portal back and have your next Portal Entre ready to use.

Yeah I have to agree. It’s great for some PvE stuff, but the lengthy cooldown means it’t not really worth it over choosing another unique utility. I personally think that it should share the cooldown of the utility you are mimicking. So you could double blink every 30 seconds, but have only one more unique utility. I can only really justify it’s use for maybe double veils or portals at present.

Same for me. This would go a long ways towards putting people on the fence like me to actually use it.

My guess though is that it was deliberately put on a long cooldown since the dev team couldn’t possibly foresee every possible use of this spell. Robert did mention he had to really push for this spell and having the long cooldown was probably a concession he had to make in order to appease people’s fears/doubts.

New mimic is absolutely incredible. I always found with PvE content, Mesmers would usually want Blink for defense, Feedback for offense, and then they’d have an incredibly situational utility slot left over. No longer; Mimic can go on literally any build when you can’t really think of what else you’d need, and allows for double feedback (which can even be traited for an extra 4 seconds coverage!), double portal (you need to use Mimic before the exit, not the entrance; incredible help for the new jumping puzzle) or whatever they so desire. I believe it also allows for a theoretical triple shatter (Mimic Signet of Illusions), though you’d need some good clone generation to actually make use of it. Best utility, it just plain makes us better at our jobs.

Yes it allows for triple shatter. Which is amazingly powerful with baseline IP.

I think the recharge of it is so long just because it is very powerful. It would almost work as an elite skill with no changes.

I’m interested to see if it will remain as is or if it has to be taken down a notch.

Noooo! Make it affect elite skills instead! Think of the double moa trolls and the double timewarp dungeon meta!

I absolutely love mimic. TWO blinks while roaming!! It’s my favorite thing atm

One thing I have to say is that probably, everyone who is using this utility now is for the mimic thing. No one really cares for the mirror, which is just the icing.

However, I think the 2 sec mirror could be improved a little.
First, 2 sec are too short. 5 should be better, even if 3 seconds would be more balanced, I believe.

Second, the time mirror activates should be when I press Mimic, not 2-3 seconds later. As it is now, mirror is just a bonus: reflecting something it’s a matter of luck rather than skill. It is really hard to reflect anything at all tbh.

I would love this to have a 60s CD and be an Elite, but let’s be honest: Our utility skills can be kinda cool. Actually useful. Our elites not. An elite to essentially get a fourth utility slot would be by and large the default pick, lack of competition and all that.

mimic is soooooo good for reflects!

The one thing i hate the most in dungeons and fractals is not being able to reflect enough on mesmer. This is partly due to the fact people just do not know how to stand in wardens. However with mimic it works out pretty well. I can solo reflect the entire clown car with a couple group distortions and phantasm signets of inspirations thrown in there. Makes me blush everytime I reflect for pugs and they say mesmer OP ^^

Well, I wish the base mimic could do something other than “just” copy an utility, sort of mirror heal which reflects and heals. But I guess I must be happy for having mimic finally fixed to an acceptable state

It’s already super powerful as it is. Getting another effect would be overkill.

You can solo the Reactor Core run as a Mesmer with Portal Blink Mimic, btw.

Portal Mimic Blink Blink run until you’re at about 15% hp, Portal and heal, enter Portal. Wait until Portal is about to end, you should regen to near full HP and enter Portal and run/roll to the end. Don’t forget to spam #1 for that sweet sweet 5% movespeed. Once at the end, wait for health and Blink cooldown. Hit first switch, blink to second and touch that booty.

Loving it, trying to incorporate it into my raid build but it’s hard to drop Blink for it…
But it’s good that I’m actively switching utilities around now and keeping the power of Mimic in Mind.

I love it, you can get double ports using mimic, really useful in wvw when there’s a golem rush, also helpful when there is a shortage of mesmer
