They really should’ve taken this chance to buff the healing of this skill a bit more. Let’s compare it to thief’s withdraw heal. It’s on the same cd but thief’s withdraw heal has better healing and arguably has a better secondary effect; rolling backwards and avoiding damage.

@ quBit: The mirror will still apply when you press the button. You will gain an additional 2seconds after the first reflect if it’s traited.

Master of Manipulation, actually.
Mirror will give you 2s of reflect, as it currently does. Then, because it’s going to be tagged as a Manipulation after Tuesday’s patch, it will have an additional 2s of reflect if you trait Master of Manipulation.

I actually think they’ve went down an extremely fantastic path in terms of our manipulation utilities. Arcane Thievery at 36s is a great baseline (actually I forget whether it’s been decreased or not, but 36s is good for this skill), and I’m also very happy with Mimic in its current state.
eta – there is a bit of a conflict with Mass Invis and the reflecting trait. You’re protected while stealthed, but the trade off for that protection is being revealed. I don’t know. I don’t mind it too much. AOE attacks are supposed to counter stealth, so I’m not too offended here.

Just listened to it and yeah definitely about the trait being at the end of the cast – so the standard effect on Mirror heal should happen as it usually does anyway.
Really looking forward to using this with the heal, especially on a 12s cooldown.

All of those “on heal” (10s icd) runes should get a lot more attractive for Mesmers taking advantage of this trait.

Yep, I might swap back to my Lyssa runes now, or explore some of the other options like adventurer rune or even centaur runes.

tbh, I completely forgot Lyssa runes were a thing. How appropriate to run such a rune in the Chaos tree now!! I’m going to have to look at all the runes tied to heal usage.

Yeah, it even provides some additional synergy with the dueling line since that has condi application traits, and having more boons improves your condition duration.
Now my build will be a power-based shatter build, so the condi damage will be minimal, but it does open up some hybrid or full condition options for people wanting to take full advantage of the new mirror mechanic.
I’m thinking of using two sigils of energy with the adventurer runes as well as taking the evasive mirror trait in dueling to maximize my mirror procs. All those extra dodges mean more mirrors. Rangers will love me.
EDIT: Some quick math with that… the battle could go like this (using adventurer runes)…
Dodge 1 = 1.5 sec
Use mimic = 2 sec
Arcane thievery = 2 sec
Arcane thievery again = 2 sec
Dodge 2 = 1.5 sec
Swap weapon for endurance regen
Dodge 3 = 1.5 sec
Random blink = 2 sec
Heal skill = 2 sec plus endurance regen (possibly 4 seconds of mirror???)
Dodge 4 = 1.5 sec
Dodge 5 if available = 1.5 sec
For a total of 16 – 19.5 seconds of continuous mirror depending on whether things work out the way I think they will. And then if some skill and such are off cooldown I can do that again. Could probably do it in a more efficient way for longer continuous mirror (i.e. weapon swap and heal earlier).

Yes it should be normal reflect provided by the heal, and then the extra 2 seconds added at the end of the skill.
But the cast time of mirror is less than 2 seconds (I’m on a phone so can’t look up what the actual cast time is – is it 1.5 seconds or something?) so I’m guessing in the end the reflect from the trait might slightly overlap the reflect from the heal by half a second or so.
But still – 3-4s of reflect every 12 seconds, then reflects on dodge or blurred frenzy successful evades…
And also, 4k heal every 12 seconds…
Seeing as Ether Feast can’t be traited and unless you’re having 3 illusions out always when using it – it looks like traited mirror could provide the bigger heal over time.
I am surprised Ether Feast was not categorised because of this.
I forgot – once chrono hits – the alacrity could bring mirror under 10 seconds! :o I can’t wait.
