Hello Mesmers ,
I was thinking in some options to improve our aoe ability, in particular in wvw, without adding new weapons (but I hope they’ll do) and I came to the conclusion to add a new shatter ability on F5: Ether Storm.
The chore of the ability is to maintain the duality and random that is very Mesmer style grating to this ability the possibility to do damage and heal in the same time with a random Field, this is the concept:
-F5 Ether Storm (60 sec CD): AOE ground targeting (1200 range) that last X seconds (1 clone grant 2 seconds duration, after the first clone shattered the second will add 1 second duration, for a total with Illusionary Persona of 5 sec) that tick for each second dealing damage to opponents and healing team for X amount.
The storm generate a random Field (Fire,Ice,Water,Smoke,ecc.) that last for the entire duration of the spell and change his colour to represent the element.
What do you think about?

I like that, though I’d really like to see each class get a class unique weapon.
Perfect for mesmer would be cards or maybe a harp.
A skill, kind of similar to yours I’d say would be good for zerging/AOE is something like

Number of pulses 7
Duration: 6 seconds
Damage: 700
Bleed (2s)
Cripple (2s)
Fury (2s)
Max target number -> 10
This all happens each pulse. Would it be OP?
This could make a really good condition weapon, like autoattack could throw a card that does low-medium damage, gives the enemy a single stack bleed, a bit of damage pierces enemies and returns back to you healing you. Would have the same rate as guardian autoattack and would follow the player to a certain range.
Harp could be a good CC/support weapon.
You could play tunes that give you enemies stacks of might, fury, regen or w/e, tunes that would do damage to your enemy and apply conditions like poison/bleed, ones that would stun all enemies ect.

i like the idea but theduration thingy seems lame
how about: u can use it without clones but it gets the size of gs 3. the more clones the huger the size
i would prefer it to have confusion procs due to confusion is more mesmerish, and it could maybe revive confusion builds
edit: the more clones the more duration +size would work either i think
Hrm… I’d still prefer a system where I select the pattern of my shatter with F1-F4, and the effect depends on what I shattered.
Say, Clones give me Distortion, 2H Phantasms deal damage, Torch/Focus confuses and Pistol/Sword dazes. Effect’s mix as composition mixes.
F1 would be single target, F2 AE on the target, F3 a cone-AE forward and F4 a PBAE.
