New Trait: +25% Movement "Time Marches On"
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
Combine with Hoelbrek Runes and Lemongrass for -85% duration on those pesky conditions that usually led to our deaths … -90% duration w/ Melandru Runes.
Won’t need Traveler’s

Now wait for the incoming:
“Change it to trait line I’m using”
“Put it on signet for all mesmers”
“Should be 33%”
“Make it baseline”
“Why does one of my traits get used for speed buff?”
Type threads and posts.
Lol, aye.
Though I have to admit that I’m curious about the 25% versus the 33% of others, but I figure
- It’s a minor instead of major
- Perhaps they think that getting up to 98% reduction is ridiculous and are going to drop the other traits from 33% to 25%.

I can’t believe that_shaman’s specialisation calculator on Dulfy’s site has already been updated for Chronomancy trait line. :o
That was fast.
that_shaman is obviously already a Chronomancer. Or will have having been a Chronomancer.

This trait is freaking OP, compared to warrior it’s 2 traits in one:
a better version of Warrior’s Sprint
weaker version of Dogged March
and it’s a minor trait!!

This single trait is the main reason I’m trying to shoehorn the traitline into a suitable playstyle for myself.
Combined with Antitoxin, Melandru or Hoelbrak runes… :o

ya, i think i’m not going far if i say that “Mesmer” is going to die because every mesmer will be a Chronomancer.
After all this time of running traveller runes and waiting for Temporal Curtain’s cd to run off, YESSSSSSSSS
finally some mobililty!
can’t wait to toss those travelers into the bank…best news of the day by far w/ respect to the trait reveals
MARA (EU) Gunnar’s Hold
OMG, the traits are ridiculously good.
Now I am feeling maybe everyone will be chronomancer. Is that good?
Are traveler runes worth a few coppers yet?

Yes, I have 5 lv 80 mesmers – Funny Puns
My only problem is my Traveler’s runes are on WvW gear otherwise, I’m excited for being able to use better runes so I can either deal more damage or take more damage
I can bring back my PVT+Melandru set for frontline mesmer :>

Something to note is that we’re also getting swiftness on signet of inspiration. This means that there will be two very viable ways of moving quick as a Mesmer.

So that means, you can still get movspd without going full chronomancy if that’s your calling.

O brave new world, That has such movement in’t!
Pretty nifty although I do wonder why they don’t just remove all the +runspeed for out of combat purposes and increase the native out of combat boost everyone gets instead. Easier and more even, makes sure people don’t lose each other.
Toxic or Hoelbrek … here I come.

Choosing this trait or SoI would depend on your build. Personally, I wouldn’t wanna give up any of my utility for the movespeed =/

Has this been confirmed? If so it means we won’t be going to being locked into runes to being locked to a trait line, which would be good news.

Which is why it’s even more likely that this “rumor” about SoI is probably legit. It would make Chrono too much of a must-have line, just to get perma-speed without relying on runes.
It’s long overdo and a great call on Anets part to finally end this very build-limiting burden Mesmers were dealing with for so long.
As far as movespeed goes, we are in a much better position as we have more viable options …
Before it was:
- Runes of the Centaur … constantly using your Mirror or MoR heal for swiftness
- Runes of Speed / the Traveler … constant +25%
- Lots of +Boon % and a focus … and you’d still not have 100% because you have to let swiftness “fall off” before reapplying it with Temporal Curtain
Now we can get it via Chronomancer … or possibly / hopefully from a rework of Signet of Inspiration.
For a class that doesn’t have the weapon skill movement shenanigans of several other classes (Warrior, Ranger, Thief, Elementalist, Engineer, Guardian … everyone but Necro it seems) … it’s not bad to finally have some solid options for this aside from constantly having our heal on CD or being locked into specific runes … or being so very very slow.

DO YOU EVEN MESMER?
10sec (8 or 6 traited) staff#2 “phase retreat”
12sec (10sec traited) sword#2 “illusinary leap”
And not on weapons but: blink and portal
A good mesmer is already uncatchable w/o any movement buff. This trait is gonna OP.

Sword #2 is blurred frenzy. Do you even Mesmer? Ileap can’t be used ooc. Plus most people wouldnt count Portal as a movement skill since you have to set it up first… worthless for catching up. The only skills that qualify as pure movement skills are phase retreat (180 flipping) and blink, which is on a rather long cooldown.
Mesmers needed out of combat “landspeed”. Thats what this trait and the new SoI are for.
Whats with all these warrior players flooding the Mesmer sub lately?
Why dont you start discussing on how to make fast hands baseline here? It’s cozy, and we have cocoa. ;P

Many of the mesmers already use runes with +25% movement speed. And your professions just have traits to mitigate the slowdown of the movement. Like your Warrior and Thief. Plus skills that give you movilitity in your weapons better than utilities with high cooldown. And uncatchable too like your thief or a marathon runner like warrior.
This only tied things, sacrificing a specialization to take the Chronomancer.
The most funny is see, even without know anything of their new specializations and what they’ll get, how they come here with their truth and their doctrine trying to influence the devs. Lol, they even don’t need a crystal ball, perhaps they just have tested HoT in the future.
You are advised, don’t allow mesmers in the meta. That’s OP.

I think you should troll a more nerf-proof profession. Too many aspects of Mesmer have been nerfed to poop due to cross-profession shenanigans. -cough!- Glamour -cough!- … -ahem!- Power Block -ahem!-

Yes, since beta …
10sec (8 or 6 traited) staff#2 “phase retreat”
Yep, I’ve mentioned staff before in other posts as our one OOC weapon skill for this
… except it doesn’t teleport nearly as far as many of the other abilities mentioned
… it also requires skill to use as we have to 180, phase retreat, 180 quite quickly to benefit from it while others just "dur hur hur, push button, move forward quicker*
12sec (10sec traited) sword#2 “illusinary leap”
Except it suffers from not working OOC and not working if the clone gets “whoops’d” by a cleave or AOE that kills it before you can swap with it … also pretty bad for getting away since the melee clone is going to be summoned near your target so the swap will teleport you to your target … there’s just that one niche case where you summon it, your target quickly moves to you with a Steal, etc. and you swap with the clone … still nowhere near as solid mobility as the other weapon skills.
Also, as stated by others … it’s Sword #3. Blurred (Mesmer Sword #2) is the opposite of “mobility” given that it requires you to stand still for it.
And not on weapons but: blink and portal
Blink is a teleport on a 30 (24s traited) cooldown … compare that to the cooldowns on the weapon skills that provide movement …
- Savage Leap : 8
- Whirling Attack: 10 (8 traited)
- Rush: 20 (16 traited)
- Thief abilities … as long as they have the initiative … cooldowns are for 6-10, lol.
Portal has a 60 cooldown (48 traited) … and you can only port to where you’ve been … I can’t throw the portal 5,000 range (but dang if I could … Jon Peters … idea here!).
Blink and Portal also consume utility slots … Blink isn’t so bad since a stunbreaker (hence why practically every Mesmer has it glued to their bar) … Portal is not … and that long cooldown, bah.

A good Mesmer is uncatchable if the people chasing are easily fooled (see: dumb as dirt).
A good Mesmer can delay being caught, but straight up speed is king … it’s why so many of us have been asking for movespeed for so very long … still don’t have the constant Swiftness, but we’re darn happy with poor man’s swiftness (+25% movespeed) due to being forced into taking specific runes (Traveler/Speed) for it or keeping our heal on cooldown with another set (Centaur).

I was about to jump on this but fortunately several others have beaten me to the punch.
Something else to mention is that mesmer movement skills don’t benefit from swiftness. Our blinks go their precise distance every time, no matter what. Warriors, on the other hand, get significant movement boosts if they have swiftness while using their kitten nal of nike skills.
I really don’t understand all the doom-sayers claiming mesmer will be uncatchable now…
Only place you’d ever have to worry about catching someone is WvW roaming, and even then, a ton of mesmers already had Traveler’s Runes, so they’re not running any faster than they usually do, they just don’t have to waste all their runes on basic out of combat mobility anymore.
Wanna talk awesome combat mobility? Made a trapper thief just for messing around in WvW. Shadow Trap is hilarious. Once I realized I wasn’t gonna be able to kill this little group of 3 people and they wouldn’t stop following me, I just proceeded to waste a good 10 minutes of their time using nothing but traps. Makes me wish Shadow Trap was more useful in other settings. If teleporting back 10k units under the cover of stealth doesn’t shake a follower, nothing will. Poor suckers finally gave up after I destroyed my shadow trap again and teleported all the way back to the top of a cliff.
Non-Mesmers: Please don’t kitten-post in our forum just because you’re kittening bored. It’s kittening rude.

This is what I was worried about at first. Key Mesmer flaws being fixed for the Elite Specialization and leaving the base class in the dust. Luckily they showed us the Swiftness Signet first, and this should be fine.
