New runes and sigils
Superior Sigil of Cleansing
Might have its uses since it is easier to controll than the other on crit/hit sigils.
Superior Rune of Evasion
Could be funny for a melee build. But outside of that… meh. Depends on ICD.
Superior Rune of Radiance
Could have been interesting if Chaos Armor was finally turned into an aura and if the ICD on the 4th bonus was low enough. Couldn’t test it until now but I assume that it doesn’t work with Chaos Armor. Will probably be pretty nice on Elementalists.
Superior Rune of the Trapper
Really want to try this on my Ranger.
Honestly, Generosity and Purity are both easy to use in PvE. Most of the time, the 10s cooldown is fine. If you’re in need of cleansing something nasty, you use Mantra. Cleansing seems more WvW oriented, but then that would be dueling… Yayyy…
Evasion has too much ICD for use either with boons or damage. Would be fun to use if ANet didn’t nerf players mix and matching runes.
Radiance doesn’t work on Chaos Armor so we can get a better light field off Sword3… but I don’t particularly like Sword3 anymore, not even with the teleclone.
Superior Sigil of Cleansing
Because warriors needed more strong on-swaps to stack with their 5s weapon swap.
Superior Rune of Evasion
Just in case thieves feel they don’t get enough stuff from dodge rolling (but actually the ICD makes these runes horrid even for thieves)
Superior Rune of the Trapper
Because now we like releasing rune sets that only 1 build on 1 class will ever use I guess?
Superior Rune of Radiance
….See note on trapper runes
Superior sigil of cleansing has an ICD of 9s. So warrior won’t get much extra benefit from it.
When do we get phantasm runes though? How about clone death runes? Maybe a rune set that recovers lost endurance?
…
I do dislike one of those runes because of a different reason. I’m not against class centered runes in particular but I feel they should serve a broader purpose or even benefit other classes while focussing on a certain characteristic of a profession (e.g. Daze on Mesmer Runes).
When thinking class centered, new Mesmer runes could give a bonus like Illusionary Defense or when summoning an Illusion. Warrior runes could provide a benefit when using a burst skill. Necromancer runes could be linked to Deathshroud and so on.
The Runes of Evasion are linked to a mechanic and even though some professions can use them better than others this is fine. This also is the case with other runes. New runes could work ‘on stunbreak’, ‘on blast/leap’ or ‘on evade’.
Even the Rune of Radiance can be used with different classes although they mainly cater Elementalists. Guardians would gain in combat mobility with GS. Rangers could use them as well when running GS or Sw. Same goes for Mesmers although it’s sad they won’t synergize with Chaos Armor.
The Runes of the Trapper on the other hand. Oh boy. Don’t get me wrong. They are awesome. But ANet really did a poor job on those. Because the benefit they grant should probably be available through traits and not through a set of runes. It feels extremly out of line and like a sloppy fix because they weren’t able to adress the issues Ranger traps (and traits) have. I won’t even start on Thief traps. I don’t see the point of introducing runes which solely serve one single utility group because this is something traits should be for. If ANet feels differently they should have made the effort to introduce one rune set per utility group.
