They’re a great PvP and PvE class. They just have a bit of a learning curve. I had reservations at first myself.

Mesmers can deal quite a bit of damage through conditions, confusion, shatters and even some raw DPS in some builds. They also bring a lot of utility to the table in PvP, both for themselves and their team.

Keep at it, keep playin’ about, and good hunting!

If you love to farm, to get tons of money. This is the worse class for it, Mez suck at farming De.

Get a ranger/warrior if ya wanna farm da for money.

However all other PvE content Mez are really good at.

In PvP mez are consider OP all around.

Mesmers, when traited properly, scale well and adopt highly variable roles in the game. (while others are linear or slightly logarithmic in their scaling, mesmers are slightly exponential in theirs)

I dare say that, based on build, they are the most flexible in terms of play style and utility brought to a group.

The drawback of this is you have to wait until you have enough trait points to REALLY see it shine.

I strongly recommend balancing anything done in the power or crit trees with equivalent numbers in the inspiration or chaos trees for best results until much higher levels when you can stack vitality against your offensive stats.

Note that you can change the abilities you choose in your trait lines on-the-fly when you’re out of combat, so don’t be afraid to experiment with synergies between traited abilities, weapons, or both.

I also strongly recommend sticking to one type of damage on both weapons.

If you go with a condition based weapon in one set and a power based weapon in the other, chances are you will end up underwhelmed.

Mesmer is a bit of a hard class to play in pve.
They are built around being king of the kittenholes, and otherwise being annoying to fight which doesnt really translate well against AI.
That being said, a good Mesmer is hilariously strong in pvp because of this.
Much of this power comes from traits, so early leveling can be painful but its a really fun class once you get the hang of it.

25/90 never forget.

I have found Mesmers, even at low level, to be very effective in PvE. It’s not Warrior faceroll easy, but easy enough. It’s also much more interesting and fun to play than a Warrior. The only downside I have seen, is rather limited AOE. Though there are AOE abilities, they are just not as easy to use. Great survivability, utility and fun though!

Stack power and shatter use sword/focus and gs and there is plenty of AOE dmg to throw around

I do, but the iWarden can die nearly instantly. I find the iBerzerker can be more reliable for AOE. Sword #2 is great as long as you hit and run. I do with Mind Stab had a larger AOE radius.

Don’t summon iwarden first, use ileap then iwarden it will serve as enough distraction to at least get the first attack off, though I don’t use phantasms as my primary source of dmg since I am built to shatter so I rarely expect/have anything alive long enough for the 2nd attack to trigger on them the exception of course being vets and above even then though I find it more advantageous to only use phantasms as another source of dmg in between shatters unless I am parked on a boss that I can have the time to actually pull up three phantasms on a staff or pistol and keep them out of aoe range.
