New to mesmer
I flirt with other professions, but when the going gets tough, I go Mesmer.
Hi OP, equip trident and go underwater, you’re now real Poseidon.
On a more serious note, yes yes and yes. Mesmer is good.

The Mesmer is a dueling profession, specializing in mindgames and misdirection. It is not an easy class to master but, once you do… well, just check out Osicat’s videos. The guy can single-handedly scatter zergs.
Mesmers are a good all arround profesion, but we shine as duelist. A very versatile class that has a ton of active defence and missdirection skills. Keep in mind surviving as a mesmer is usually tight to skill of player, we rely more in not taking dmg than overhealing it or reducing it.
For zergs youll probably wont get as many tags as necros or elems, but we can get good drops with practice. Feedback (that purple reflect buble) might help you get a lot of tags or retaliation dmg or both
For roaming we kinda lack in swiftness department, so we need runes and/or focus to cover ground quickly, but once we are there we have awesome combat mobility and we are quite a pain in the kitten to deal with.
Also you probably wont see some impresive dmg numbers, a lot of our dmg comes from fantasms or conditions from clones or shaters depending on builds, but once you add all that our dmg is good enough.
Be warned first lvls are really annoying, mesmers shine at high lvls, not low. We are very trait dependant.
I’ve watched a few videos and we do seem very versatile, big damage numbers doesn’t mean squat if you cant survive through the burst, sustaining and survivability coupled with control is how you survive.
thanks,

Most of the Mesmer’s defense is active. You have to know when to blink, block, dodge, blur, distort, stealth, mimic and/or swap with clones. Some even use portal while in combat. Once you get use to all that, you will literally be dancing around your opponents. One thing to keep i mind though. Always assume your opponent knows which one is the real you. That can be a life-saver.
Yeah I’ve seen a few very intuitive videos, justt reading how/whatt to spec, love these phantasm’s, can you recommend a site/link to a good build for damage or just a solid build in general.
Thanks.
