Chrono FOCUSES on support and buffing that actually a good thing since its makes the devs job easier to create diff elite specs. If you dont want supporting dont olay chrono.
Alot of dos secs bring little to no spport. utilitiy and buffing isnt everything if your dmg is high enough you are fine. And im sure Mirage will do just that.
If you want to see power buffs they should then make a doff elite spec for it.

Warrior with ea, banners, and 25 might production adds more DPS than quickness and alacrity.

+1 to add that both war and druid dps > chrono.
The only thing that chrono bring is unique buffs (additive with others) decent tanking ( a dd with 1 trait swap could do better with less expenses) and a gimmick distort share in the SAME package.
Thats why they are taken. They carry nabs. Defensive support like this could be replaced by simple better positioning, dodging or if rly needed a 3rd party support, aegis.
Gw2 pve always was and still is all about squeezing the most dps possible. Glass cannons. The rest is l2p. Built in mechanics like dodge and self heal enable this.
Ppl also tend to forget the indirect dps of classes. Engie for example, does not bring 35k dps. Account his condi aura on other 3 condi classes ( PS, druid, other dps) and it is like 40k of direct + indirect dps.
Now do this indirect dps calculation to all classes and add to the already present direct dps benchmark and build a True benchmark table. Bring actual balance to pve based on it.

im talking about pvp/wvw gamemodes and not about pve
in pvp chrono is meta ONLY because double moa and portal, thats all
imagine mesmers havent those two skills and nobody will play core mes or chrono in spvp current state
in wvw u cant do kitten vs good/meta builds in hands of good players

if u are condi ppl just run from u, thats all

Just cause chrono focuses on support and buffing doesn’t mean that core mesmer can’t focus on damage or that mesmer can’t have a valid and competitive damage spec. I mean, look at ranger and druid. Druid not only is one of the best healers, but also is an incredibly powerful buffer with its spirits and GotL, yet core ranger also has a strong condi dps build that is pretty simple to play as well.
ANet has shown that they can do that, so why do you and so many other people continuously argue that just because chrono is good at buffing, that mesmer is not allowed a proper dps spec at all? Its illogical
