So I want to use s/s for my mes for roaming in WvW. Is Offhand sword viable? Are there any builds for it that someone could recommend? Is offhand sword outclassed by pistol? I have a lvl 80 mes that has full zerk gear and I am leveling another one (I made a really cool skin for him).

It will depend on what kind of WvW you are doing.
I would say that all off-hands we have are viable in certain situations.

For example Focus: pulling enemies off walls (or off edges in EoM). Great for interrupt builds with CI. Our only swiftness skill on demand.

Pistol: Roaming, good against thieves. Good even with condi gear if traited for bleed on crit. I would mostly use it against thieves as position detector.

Sword: Either offensively to proc the daze or as a block to run through AC showers. With a bit of care you could line 2-3 targets that do not have stability
Our best power phantasm for roaming.

This is specifically for roaming and small group fights

I run 4/4/0/0/6 full zerk shatter with halting strike and s/s+staff. OH sword is pretty decent due to its low cd. iRiposte is actually quite powerful with 2-3k crit damage. And counter blade can deliver halting strike damage if successfully interrupt. iSwordsman deliver quick and high damage (3-4k crit against people without toughness). Also keep in mind those damage goes up with 5xvulnerability in each daze, and I use diversion quite often.

Only issue is against multiple foes, but most OH has similar issues. Focus have less trouble against multiple foes if it doesn’t break so often.

The classic variations (1|2),(4|7)/4,10/0/0/1,(7|8),(11|12)

Better investing in CI if you’re putting 30 in Chaos in my opinion. 20/20/30 is amazing if you’re comfortable interrupting key cooldowns. If not, from what I understand, PU power is a waste of time.

I can learn how to get good at interrupting.

I’ve been having great performance with this. The entire goal is to keep the fight at your pace. Open with classic “gs burst” 4→2→3. If they dodge (even if they don’t) use your “fake” shatter (diversion). This will apply 5 stacks of vuln per clone. Swap to sword when they close the gap and then place down your focus field, Illusionary leap through for retal and if you catch them and Frenzy. Roll out of place and Mind Wrack. This’ll usually put the enemy on the defensive where they try to kite you. Plop down the broken warden of glory and if it doesn’t bug out, hide inside it to negate ranged damage or punish them if they leap to you.

There’s more to it but I’ve been having tons of performance with this as it’s been my main build for a while now. Holds up really well in PVP also so it’s good to train up in there. I’ll practice duel with you if you wanna learn your interrupts and combos.

The build looks nice, but I’d really rather run s/p or s/t than s/f. It’s not that I think focus is bad, I just don’t really like it that much.

Everyone has their own style, you still have an interrupt on your offhand so it’s fine. I just prefer being able to swap defensively with the warden

OH Sword:
- Good for Duel. Sword #4 Block damage is insane.
- iSwordman is good power based. Nice damage but only 1hit.
- Power Based

OH Pistol:
- Safe Pick for every Game play. Solo or Team fight
- iGunner damage slightly below iSwordman but Multiple Hits.
- Stun 2s is best set up kill if u have melee Allies. They will be thankful for ur stun and prevent ur enemies kite you.
- Either Power or Condi based can use Pistol

Sword+S = Best for Dueling coz it’s all about damage. Performance become less when enemy number become bigger coz it’s hard to predict ur Block Sword #4 damage will go. Normally people want to abuse Sword #4 Daze to trigger CI or Lv 30 Power trait. iSwordman atk rate is fast. Around 3-4s/ Atk.

Sword+P = Safe pick for any game modes and any Build. Even if u are not Pure Lockdown build u can still forcing enemy to stay in the place for kitten with Sword #3 Leap + Pistol #5 Stun. If enemy has Stab, U have Immob. If enemy doesn’t have stab, U have Stun. iGunner atk rate i think every 6s.

Waste of time? Sooooo wrong

Btw, before you will use Focus, just use pistole. Its much better for power pu.
And Notice, if you are playing with staff, you should only use the offhand pistol. Because you will stack bleedings, and the warlock will hit much harder with that.
