WHAT THE *%$&^&$ this is such kittening BS… So ridiculous… They blinding befuddlement thing…. So once our target starts swinging and is no longer blinded does that mean we can reapply confusion? Or is it an ICD no matter what… If its no matter what then there goes ANY condition build that didn’t rely on glamours to begin with…. Anet you are so freaking kitten
I am not disappointed by any of this really.
Though I’m not perticularally “Yay!!!” For anything either.
Soo +1 Anet for nothing to bad.
This is all The balance we get till June. Lets hope May’s bug fixes are a good b-day present ;p
The blinding befuddlement has the possibility of wrecking my pvp confusion build :/
- Blinding Befuddlement trait:
- Increased duration of applied confusion from 1 second to 4 seconds.
- Can now trigger only once every 5 seconds on any target that is blinded by the mesmer.
Sorry, but could someone explain me how they thought it was only applying 1 second confusion? I’m almost 100% sure it was (buffed) around 8 seconds… But hey, let’s just nerf chaos armor even more by reducing the non stackable time of it to 2 seconds now we’re already busy making confusion looking like a gamebreaking condition.
I guess it’s a lot easier to completely destroy builds instead of putting in the effort to balance them. I really don’t understand the thought process between half the nerfs they do…
Oh come on… Pretty much all that got nerfed is just confusion and a couple of highly specialized confusion heavy builds.
Phantasm and Shatter are pretty much untouched and those are basically the main builds we use anyway.
The only annoying thing about this update is that iZerker bug is still here.
Honestly, I actually think that we got relatively stronger now, Thieves, Eles and Engineers all got quite a few painful nerfbats in their face, so we will have easier time with those too.
So you’re saying Phantasm and Shatter build are the “go~to” builds?
Build diversity is a good thing.
Would you rather see mesmer and their mother go Shatter?
This is one less build for the Mesmer. Now everyone is gonna go running to shatter/phantasm builds and guess what?… People will complain… [X] get’s nerfed, one less build to play with again.
It’s like a cycle.
PS: I was a phantasm tank build, but I did have rabid gear for anytime I wanted to confusion bomb. I had 3 builds, glamour confusion, phantasm, and shatter. Let’s make that 1 less build

If they cut the “charge” time down so that it was an even 2 seconds (when traited) – and removed the cooldowns – that would be a kitten good start to making the playstyle more dynamic.
From the patch notes, I was hoping dodge-clones wouldnt go hitting random things anymore, but they still do :\
They attack what attacked you last, not your current target. So it’ll hit other critters you kite into, turrets, etc.
They did finally fix the Sharper Images trait though.

Actually, there’s more than one type of condition build for mesmers. You can either focus around maintaining Chaos Armor, and allowing the opponents to kill themselves off the confusion + blinds (which make confusion) that it generated, or you can spec into glamours.
Granted, both of those builds are trash now in WvW, but you get the point. Condition builds as a whole were hosed in WvW.

Considering Blinding Befuddlement used to last 5 seconds, Not 1. It’s another nerf covered by a sugarcoated lie.

Ain’t gonna change the big picture right now, but I’m quite happy with this. Will help to have a viable bleeding build (more changes are needed).

Give it a month when people start complaining about shatter builds. The problem here is their new policy. Noobs cry = nerf.

Well, “just confusion” is basically the only damaging condition we can apply at a regular basis. If i’m lucky i manage about 8 stacks of bleeding with 3 staff clones + sharper images + Sigil of Earth on my staff. A necro does this with simple “1” spamming…
But the general issue with conditions being too weak is not a Mesmer-specific issue. In fact I suppose the new Confusion damage makes sense, comparing other conditions.
And that’s more fair than comparing them to Warriors or Thieves, who need their entire damage cut by 50%, not just their confusion damage.
Thief stealth was nerfed last month, resulting in an overall reduction of 33% damage, which was fixed this patch. As soon as Anet sees the error of their ways, I’m sure this will get re-patched next month.

So they not only reduced confusion damage by 50% but also made the Blinding Befuddlement trait entirely useless…
But thieves can go on doing 10k backstabs without using any cd’s and still won’t unstealth when it got blocked…time to backstab some pugs!

It also doubles as disproving what I’m sure you, and people like you, think Thieves can do (and be successful doing so).
There. That’s my rage for the day.
The issue with Thieves (sorry to go offtopic) in WvW is not how much damage they do or don’t do, but how easy they can escape death. They may not be more dangerous than other opponents, but they can’t be killed unless they want you to stand a chance, really.
Which – given the treck back from respawning – is more of a QoL issue, I’m aware.
Mantras are still ain’t worth building around them.
Considering Mantra builds tend to rely on either A) Abusing Restorative Mantras to be a heal-bot or B ) Not using Mantras so as to maintain bonus dmg from Empowering Mantras. I think the logic that Mantras are lackluster skills is valid.
A band-aid trait is not a valid substitute for a solidly designed skill.

oh please i really really hope soe as anet double nerfed confusion builds that had blinding befuddlement inbound.they went completely over the top with that and destroyed a ton of builds while not giving us ANYTHING to make up for this. condition mesmers got hit way too hard.
