One thing we forgot about the Phantasm Buffs
Never got a chance to ask this…but could someone clear up the description for iWarlock? Say if you have 3 opponents in cone radius and you stood in front of one person, does summoning iWarlock cause ALL THREE winds of chaos to hit the same guy or you have to be really close to hit?
I ask this because I always thought its easy to get caught by winds of chaos even when you are targeting others due to long trails and slow moving projectile.
It’s one Winds of Chaos per target, targets can be anywhere around you, target limit of three. You can see this occurring in this video at 3:12.
Well, as a hybrid solution it’s ok. Honestly Phantasms should not be weapon skills to begin with (either F-bar or utility/elite/healing only), but meh this works.
What annoys me is that they entirely forgot about Mariner/Whaler. Not that underwater content exists in this game, I know…
It does kind of stop you using them in stealth like before as most of the time you do the attack.
The worst part is how the attacks don’t really do much, the pistol phantasm crippling shot is low damage and all round kind of poor, the winds of chaos fills the screen with a big visual fuster cluck and the iMage is essentially the prestige again.
It doesn’t solve the short comings of phantasms, the slow ramp up of damage or that they’re single target in nature and so suffer when mobs either die or disappear. Dev time would be better spent reworking phantasms as a concept than pushing out a bandaid like this, give us control of our damage back and make these skills summon clones and ditch the concept of a semi permanent summon doing damage.
Phantasms may have worked at launch but HoT brought so much power creep phantasms don’t cut it anymore outside of massive health bosses.
A better general implementation would be that a Phantasm-skill takes an existing Clone and empowers it to do attack X, once, then it dissolves.
In turn, the attacks would be much stronger and there’s a warning for the target in that you can see the energy change a clone to the see-through purple shape of the phantasm.
Phantasms may have worked at launch
Very arguable.
