It’s true they have started on our Time Warp.
I feel like there is a secret mesmer-loathing group out there that is organizing synchronized complaining of our skills, thereby forcing the devs to feel the community must want each nerf.
It’s lame and discouraging. I’ve recently started using way off mainstream skills in PvP in order to get some semblance of security for keeping a build for more than two weeks before it’s nerfed into the ground.
Remove spvp! Actually, if “balance” changes made to a form of play that (I’d guess) max 5% of the population plays continue to affect pve then I would support such a measure. More plausible though, split pve and pvp skills.
Probably phantasms. They already cried about iZerker LOS and damage before. Hence why we won’t get that ‘’good old time’’ iZerker we had.
Mantra builds though awesome need buffs. D/D ele’s and P/D vit thieves are near impossible to kill with a mantra build unless you chain daze, perfect timing CC and even then if it’s a good opponent it’s near impossible.
Mantra build is very hard to play well and I feel that effort should be reflected in the skills used and effort versus result is not up to par when any new person could roll a D/D ele or P/D vit thief build and faceroll to win.
I’ll be seriously annoyed if they keep nerfing mesmers when its elementalists and thieves that need a good nerf. Even the ele’s and thieves I speak to agree that those builds need a nerf. That says something. They play it because it’s easy and therefore ‘fun’ because everyone likes to win easily.
Also please buff mantra of pain! Damage: 324 should be more like 500 base damage in order to stand any chance to reasonably burst down a d/d ele or p/d vit thief. Once a mantra mesmers mantras run out things become a lot harder.

The PvP forums are just terrible players in general. If Anet removed Mesmers from the game they would still call them OP.
I love my Mesmer. By far my favorite class in PvE, sPvP, and eventually WvWvW. I will never go back to any of the other classes.
But we gotta draw a line! Quickness by itself is already a broken mechanic. Quickness turns an intricate game with some of the most dynamic and fun combat mechanics in all MMOs into a twitch fest. Either learn to press stunbreak/dodge fast enough or be another downed victim. Even an above-average response rate still leads to taking massive damage.
NOW lets take that broken piece of crap that absolutely does not belong in a well designed combat system and give it to all of my buddies in a giant bubble for 10 seconds without any penalties. Also chaos armor for everyone.
Really? Time Warp and Moa Morph might as well just be called iWin1 and iWin2, respectively. I honestly cannot even fathom how this far into the game’s lifespan these skills still function as they do now.
Quickness in PvP is too ridiculous at the moment. Watch them Thiefs and Warriors full life you before you know it.

Confusion is the counter to Quickness. One of my most glorious moments was running into a enemy group who were in Time Warp and using Mirror Images -> Cry of Frustration.

Easy, Run away from the timewarp, Get out of their ranged abilities and their timewarp is useless. Use blocks, stuns, knockbacks etc. If timewarp was 5 seconds, it would be useless and might as well be removed. This is an issue of not knowing how to counter timewarp not an issue with timewarp itself.

No matter what devs do to the classes people will find something that kills them and cry about it.
First month it was moa and PW thieves..then it was guardians,mesmers,thieves….and now its gaurdians,ele,mesmers,warriors, and thieves
Soon when people start learning to play and classes get more viable builds, their will be an ocean of tears for every class.
What’s funny about this is timewarp barely benefits the mesmer relative to other classes. Our auto attacks are objectively slower at killing as is than any other classes provided same weapon.
We get our damage from cooldowns, timewarp doesn’t accelerate these.
I don’t know I have faith in the devs ability to discern QQ from legitimate game breaking issues…. they’re doing a lot well in the balance department imho.. just look at thieves ..

Maybe something along those lines, I would love a passive speed boost and I think it would make the game as a whole more fun to not have 10 seconds of aoe Haste PERMANENT SKILL ON BAR.
Not really sure what auto attacking has to do with it, Getting 2-3 phantasms out and doing your burst in half the time is pretty good though.

Not really sure what auto attacking has to do with it, Getting 2-3 phantasms out and doing your burst in half the time is pretty good though.
We can already do that in a few moments. 10 seconds of timewarp where we spend two doing things, and 8 auto attacking with those things done, on mesmers, is much less effective than putting it on another class.
Warrior + Quickness = meatgrinder. Especially in melee.
Mace Guardian + quickness. Twice the healing rate atop twice the damage.
We don’t get the same mileage as we burn all our cooldowns at the start, same with them and all of their DPS cooldowns, but our auto attacks are lower damage, so for the rest of timewarp, we aren’t getting as much as them. We make up for it by having timewarp, but it’s much stronger used selflessly, as we really can’t milk it for all it’s worth.

Time warp is far from OP. im sorry about i cant even agree to it even bieng remotely OP its cooldown is extremely long. like. ridiculously long that i dont even use it not even for WvW and tbh i rather use Mass invisibility rather than time warp in any aspect of the game. 10 seconds of haste is cool and out yes it puts out more DPS for you and your team and speed stomps but the cooldown is just far to long for my taste.
As for as viable elites. Mass Invisibility all the way. much more reliable than time warp and especially if your using 6x lyssa runes. And many classes have a counter for the haste stomp you just have to time your interupt right and aswell for thief and mesmer your teleport and clone dump right aswell. and you pretty much counter it. Spvp is a team oriented part of the game you have a team for a reason your not alone if you choose to go alone. and take points by urself by all means go ahead but if you end up facing a time warp mesmer and you actually stay to fight him while he is in time warp? you deserve to be haste stomped .. period point blank sorry to tell ya.

Thread devolving into Time Warp OP line, suffice it to say, Time Warp isn’t OP, burst damage being so front loaded is OP. Drop Warp and Combo in 2 sec WIN! This isn’t good, but once again, not the TW to blame. . . burst damage that requires no ramp up is the blame. Once you set up a ramp up time on burst that is more than 3 seconds you start getting fights that last 10 to 20 seconds on average. Good players will beat lesser players and great players will still own. . . but at least it’ll be fun to feel like you have a chance for the first 5 to 10 seconds!
At any rate, next ability on the nerfing block should totally be Blurred Frenzy if they really give in to people’s complaints. I’d hate to see it nerfed personally, because I use it so much (remove the auto facing would be fine with me though), but it’s highly likely it’d be the next thing they would hit. That and probably. . . Mind Wrack damage (because people still QQ’ing about the bug that the little .25 sec CD doesn’t really fix).

I think people just home in on warp because they can see it being used. As Delofakitten said, burst damage is just OP. ANet had the same problem with GW1. Any time there was any kind of good burst damage ability it just got nerfed to hell to preserve metagame balance.
One of the stated reasons for not having as many abilities in GW2 as they did in GW1 was specifically so that the devs didn’t have to focus in on specific skills and nerf them as much, they could adjust the whole profession accordingly. But so far the only significant metagame balancing they’ve done is nerfing individual skills.
It’s just another 180 from the design team. They must think we all have very short memories or something. Or they just don’t care about having our respect any more. Not that they do everything poorly, ANet does a lot of stuff very well but their class descriptions and balancing philosophies are utter tripe since they don’t actually follow them.
I still dont understand why people are complaining about mind wrack damage to me i still eithier 1 or 2 shot squishies mainly thiefs are the easiest because of thier low health pool when they go glass cannon what is it around 14k hp right? thats lower than a guardians health pool lol eithier or if your a glass cannon expect to get owned hard by another glass cannon if you dont know how to play your class right. And that goes for any class period point blank i even had a verry great fight with a glass cannon guardian we was fighting for about 8 minutes straight i was left with about 1.4k hp left after i downed him in our fight. (all thanks to him standing in my chaos storm after he stood in his symbol thinking it would protect him hehe) but its all good !
Anet should delete the mesmer. Its already a broken and bad class compare to the REAL GW1 mesmer.
No speaking of the long list of skill / traits bug never solved.
And, at see the poor control the GW2 mesmer can have, and the poor damage compare to many other class, the player are still complaining…
basicly, the mesmer should be able to create clone, but should NOT do any single damage.

Mesmers will be completely crippled, randomly broken with layer upon layer of cheap random bandaid by the time the actual root of everything gets adressed: portal. I wish elementalists shipped with the curse of portal instead of mesmers.

-Dungeons: Very good and benefits the entire group. Also the only good option with a very few situational exceptions.
-WvW: Decent for a small group, something that should be encouraged so it’s less ZergVsZerg, but mass invisibility still has better uses unless it’s something like quickly taking a supply camp.
-PvP: Two things. 1) The CD is so long that it will likely only be used once. 2) The part if the playerbase that focus on pvp is so incredibly small that balancing around it is like balancing around what is good/bad in Caledon Forest.
If a balance is needed then do a split between pve and pvp versions.
210 sec CD and people cry? Like really? Are you that bad in this game? If it was like 90sec CD, sure, its OP but its freaking 210sec, stop crying and learn to play the game instead of spamming skills brain dead and when some1 kills you “PLZ nerf X thing”

Just to clarify, I am saying that it is perfectly fine and shouldn’t be changed. Split means that it behaves differently in PvE and PvP, not that its halved. E.g. have it last shorter with a shorter CD in PvP since that would mean it could be used more than once but have it stay unchanged in PvE so that for e.g. boss fights in dungeons you would still get the full effect (and a shorter CD wouldn’t be as beneficial since it boss fights don’t last that long anyway).

give TW 7 second charge so it can be interupted and goes to its 210 sec CD afterwards.
nerf stealth mechanic and give easier mechanic on breaking stealth.
remove cripple from iberserker
give distort mechanic a revamp so the mess will recieve 30% dmg instead of phasing through
shorten the range of phantasm summon (that has already been affacted by LOS)
longer charge rate of phantasm attack. and longer CD for its summon.
remove toughness from illusions.
Its incredible how everyone who doesnt see that TW isnt overpowered needs to learn to play.
By the way the people who claim its overpowered say exactly the same about the people claiming its fine.

I would like to see it removed and replaced with something else entirely just not sure what that should be.

It’s limited, yes. Not certain how it activates though.

It’s a pulse, looks like 0.5 seconds between each one as it goes away instantly if you leave the time warp.
The nerf calling is getting just too out of hand now… The mesmer class is great as it is.. And mass>timewarp hands down for PVP situations like WvW and sPvP. What I want to see is people asking for buffs on certain things… And lets not forget that mesmers STILL have trait bugs and summoning bugs that are way too much of a pain (Duelist Discipline/iLeap up a hill). How bout we fix those bugs that are ACTUAL bugs instead of crying all the time because you just lost… Most of my pvp exp is in WvW where I only use timewarp if we are using siege golems… Otherwise mass invis all the way.

Learn to play learn to counter the skills. period point blank after getting my mesmer to 80 fully geared out ive learned alot about to class and how to counter it on my other toons aswell. altho now i main a mesmer. i can deal with another mesmer just as easily. even on my thief mesmer is a piece of cake. Fighting a mesmer is all about a clear mind watch his movements watch how the clones move ull notice that clones attack verry much so slower than the actually mesmer and dont tend to move unless you move away from the clone itself. and also the real mesmer will only be the one actually dodging attacks not sitting thier like a dumb rock. im sorry to tell you but if you get all hot headed and mad your going to loose the fight even against a bad mesmer. Thats just how it goes. Thats lesson number 2 for you too kiddo.
Learn the basics of the class and you wont have trouble with another mesmer again..

Sorry to say kiddo but sometimes running away is not an option, or at least an option that makes you lose the supply depot, dolyak or whatever else you were guarding.
So yes I might not die to the TW but I lose all the same.
I play a mesmer so dont think I dont know how to counter it, I use TW myself for the exact things I just mentioned and its super effective, Im sorry if you dont know how to use it effectively.

WvW isn’t meant to be perfectly balanced though according to ANet, it’s focused on large groups doing battle and not small scale skirmishes with only a few combatants. This means some classes will provide a better benefit at times than other ones, mesmers provide good support but e.g. elementalists and engineers (even with the over-the-top grenade nerf) perform much better during sieges. There are several ways to counter TW, depending on the situation. If you’re defending during a siege and the attackers use TW then have e.g. a Guardian place Reflective wall on the castle walls and watch as all those sped up attacks bounce right back. If it’s during a fight on open ground such as a supply camp, get retaliation up on your group and try to apply some confusion on the enemies in the TW (by mesmer shatters, engineer bombs, etc) and see how long they will keep attacking.
Learn how to overcome challenges rather than demanding that someone else remove them, it’s good advice for both a game and for real life

You have separate skills in PVE+ for a reason you’re not actually playing Pvp.
Timewarp is crazy good, if you slot it out for mass invis or even moa you’re bad, and you should feel bad end of story, it doesn’t matter if there’s another mesmer running Timewarp or if you can’t bother to switch weapons and summon more phantasms, but rather hurr durr for 8 seconds auto attacking. Slot it, and Use it.
People used to cry about Moa, now it’s gutted but still useable
Even then when it was “Op”, I never slotted moa, you know why? Using Moa to win 2v1 is kitten compared to winning the game after hastily-crushing a whole team at mid twice.
Timewarp = One big win on a node, it could be a 2v3 3v3 4v4 3v4 and that’s huge in a tournament, you basically redefined the course of the game (Usually TWICE during a game) with one button!

Timewarp can fail, your team might be kitten I don’t use voip to tell my teammates, So it’s not OP! You can drop Confusion/+retaliation so the other team feels bad while haste stomping and quick rezzing!
One ability on a large cooldown well timed or not, should never be a redefining point in combat for a team based game.
Time warp needs a nerf, and mesmer needs a variety of versatile elite skills not a One-elite-to-rule-them-all , and _Not in seperate patches__
@Darnis: I’d guess the reason people are focusing on pve and wvw is that almost no one plays pvp anymore (I’d be surprised if it’s more than max 5% of the player population that focuses on pvp). It might be true that it’s very good in pvp (ok, it is true) but it’s of no concern to the vast majority. If it would be split between pvp and pve then most probably wouldn’t mind if it’s changed in pvp.

Oh look another sPvP player who thinks his mode is the only one that counts.
We are talking about PvE and WvWvW because the PvP playerbases constant whining and refusal to learn how the game plays is resulting in nerfs that effect the other two modes.

I’m not sure why people think the devs simply carry out what is “whined” about in the forums, if you think they are so bad that they simply do what they are told without giving any thought as to whether the “whiners” have a point, why are you playing the game?
The last mesmer issue was simply broken, or do we just have the poor dears whining because they can no longer roll their faces accross the button for their macro?
It seems to me that nerfs have little to do with whining I have four classes at 80 (Necro, Mes, Thief & Engineer), two of them are “whined” about a lot, thief & mes, my engineer barely at all, yet my engineer as been nerfed far more than the rest of them.

Time Warp is not the rule-them-all skill.
It is the ONLY WORTHY SKILL TO KEEP AT ALL TIME in PVE.
Can I cast moa morph on champion? NO
Mass Invis is just invisibility, and a bad version of thief refuge.

It is still a VERY VERY small population of the player base of the game and begging for nerf’s or “fixes” to satisfy this small portion will drive away more players than make happy… Make sense?
if they remove TW from mesmer they need remove every quickness skill from game, otherwise is RIDICULOUS.
many class have much more easy acess to quickness and already with high speed atack rates.
personally i prefer quickness be remove completly from game (IMO dont make any sense on this game) and replace TW with some great summon phantasm (obviou this phantasm would be affected by shatters or wouldnt be a elite skill).
maybe a phantasm that remove conditions ( mesmers are a crap removing conditions), dont know, just want a big phastasm, would be cool xD
Time Warp is not the rule-them-all skill.
It is the ONLY WORTHY SKILL TO KEEP AT ALL TIME in PVE.
Can I cast moa morph on champion? NO
Mass Invis is just invisibility, and a bad version of thief refuge.
And almost only in group PvE, since it’s a great support skill but actually not as useful for the mesmer himself. And the cooldown is enormous.

if they mess with mind wrack damage they serious need improve lot and lot of other things because without MW damage shatter mesmer will be a joke.
would love to try a phantasm build but they are so useless. would love play a condition mesmer but wich 1h weapon will i use with pistol and staff?? kitten scepter or useless sword (on this build)?
im waiting for a p/p combo, pistol main hand doing some bleeds look great
mesmers dont have other option beside go shatter and full berserker.
