Hey,

can we please do an overview what seems to be bugged? (“Seems” because it could be that it works intended that way and they just forget to add it in the patch notes.. hopefully they did not and these are indeed bugs.. -.-)

Moa (in pve)
- cast can fail although it should work (I used it on a modniir champion, was not blinded or whatever and he didn’t dodge or whatever, it simply should have turned him into a moa, instead it didn’t affect him, but the cd came..)
- duration is not 10 seconds (on the same champion modniir it was one time 3 seconds, the other time 6 seconds)

Beserker (in pve)
- deals massively less damage
for example:
BEFORE patch the beserker did between 1800 and 2500 over THREE “strikes over times” by a single whirl and AFTER patch he hits for 600 and has ONE “strike over time” and MAYBE a second one..

- weird damage behaviour of the beserker
for example:
- he misses on the first whirl attack and then hits with low damage, but on his second whirl attack he SOMETIMES does his “normal” full damage
- he misses nearly 90% of the time on first attack and does very little damage since the attacks are missing

Illusions (in pve)
- LOS buggy (obstructed, etc.)
for example:
the terrain in pve is too buggy and casting a illusion will fail 50 % of time because of obstructed message (and causes cd)

- it seems there is a range problem
for example:
the cast range for the disenchanter is definetely not 900, it is maybe 600, but more likely 350 – 400 (compared to Illusionary Leap with 600 range)
-> most of the time it is “out of range” even if within the specified range

- making illusions an attack does a lot of harm
for example:
Not only do we lose damage from the attack, we lose the regen from the phantasm, and the ability to shatter for a second attack or a defense.
Furthermore blinds, blocks, and dodges now negate 2 or 3 mesmer attacks compared to ONE from everyone else.

Shatter (pve)
- it seems that the shatter damage is also affected to be less compared to before
for example:
with three illusions being shattered, each could crit around 2-3k BEFORE, and AFTER the patch it is 1-1.5k

Maybe it is easier for the devs, if they have a list and don’t have to read every thread.

They replied to the ranger trap bug in the bug forum really fast and already got it fixed. So I hope, if we provide them with an overview, they may respond a little bit sooner (or maybe answer at all).

Please, come on, everyone wrote his experiences with the “bugs” in other threads, why not just include it here again, so we can at least try to gather a nice list of bugs to which they should address to.

My “rare” geared mesmer used to hit iberzerker dependably for between 1800 and 2500. over the three ‘strikes over time’ produced by a single whirl.

It now hits for 600, and has only ONE ‘strike over time’

If I’m lucky I see a second and it reaches 1200… (that’s 20% of the time)

I get more dps by spamming one and forgetting about the zerker.

Ok while doing AC I found that the cast range for disenchanter is definitely not 900 as the tooltip states. Around 600 maybe. Most of the time my phantasms will read (out of range) even if I am within the specified range.

Please look at the damage of iBerserker and make the line of sight nerf only affect WvW and PvP. Terrain is just too buggy in the game and you get “obstructed” half the time.

I’d rather play as Moa than how is the mesmer now.

Blinds, blocks, and dodges now negate 2 or 3 mesmer abilities (including non-attacks!) compared to ONE from everyone else

the illusions which USED to be left over (summoned, but did no damage before, but are no longer summoned) serve(d) as a fully fledged resource for half of our arsenal and are now no longer generated!

We don’t just lose the damage from the attack, we lose any of the multiple possible group-wide passives and the ability to shatter for a second attack or a defense. (if you’re using iwarden or image you’re also losing their defensive actives, making it a QUADROUPLE PENALTY)

Give us back illusion summons even if the attacks themselves cant connect.

We are essentially being double or even TRIPLE penalized for blinds, blocks, or dodges depending on our traits.

ANet’s devs have taken an overly simplistic view and gone OVER THE LINE drawing a false equivalence between illusions and attacks.

Simple is fact that not all mesmer builds rely on illusion for doing dmg but actually rely on the illusion being out and able to shatter. They way it worked before was if say someone evaded your illusion cast the dmg was negated but still had your illusion out(Which is way whole mesmer class was made to have illusion out for x number of abilities) So basically they just made it worse for use to realy on illusion shatter builds. It would be like someone casting blind on a necro and a minion would go poof on them. Or blind on a ranger and his pet went poof(if in a alternate reality and pets actually were useful in pvp)

+1 for the beserker massive damage drop.

Also the line of sight nerf only in WvW will still make the berserker make awfull low damage.
They really should manage the problem in another way instead of turning the GS as useless weapons like the scepter – torch – focus…

Like, In WvW if you attack a stronghold holded by another server, and if the targeted foe isnt in the line of sight, make the berserker fail, or make him die right away. Since its the reason why you nerfed all fantasm like that.

Except for THIS case, make everything work like before this awfull patch.

The GW2 mesmer is already a fail compare to the GW1 one, but i couldnt imagine Anet could make it worse than actualy.

more and more and more desapointing.

(Yes i’am raging a bit because compare to the others class, its the less annoying to play with, others class are really not interesting compare to the GW1 version, so they bored me after 10min playing them )

BERSERKER needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

HUGE major bug with that skill now, missing nearly 90% of the time on first attack and does very little damage since the attacks are missing.

It’s not just iBerserker, iDuelist seems to me to do less damage and when you shatter three also seems to damage less, which implies to me a damage nerf across the board. Anyone else notice that?

Yea i just noticed the bug while doing AC so the 600 was just more like a generous estimation. Still, it sucks that our phantasms seems to be kittened up more than before. ANyway has anyone tried using phantasmal haste yet? How has it changed?

This LoS crap on conjuring phantasms is really buggy. Sometimes, a slightly elevated enemy (such as on a ramp) will show [obstructed].

That happened to me, too. And it happened a lot.

So would the question be: Is LOS the same as Out of Range? And furthermore associated with obstructed?

Just did the Shatterer event, got stuck in a crystal, all my skills EXCEPT blink we’re unusable (blacked out)… but when I tried to blink out of the crystal it wouldn’t do anything, just kept saying no line of sight. Before you could just blink out of crystals, not sure if its the same for the COE bosses and if Phase retreat still lets you jump out of being stuck or if that is going to suffer from LOS too.

Also while I was there I noticed that the changes in elevation on the terrain seriously affected my ability to summon Phants! Even when there was only small changes in terrain they wouldn’t spawn, it makes it really difficult to get any damage going when you’re having to walk around trying to find a stable place to cast from.

Yep practically in front of me, only on an elevated surface because of a ramp. after i walked up the ramp and was at the same height at the monster (and thus close enough for melee), i was able to summon the phantasm.

Always when doing balancing on classes in mmo´s you want to take the ‘razor’ approach, just doing small changes. One example was in swtor when 20% of the pop left (at least on my server) after they did massive changes on pretty much all classes. Not only did they not do that here (doing 3 major changes – 1 to the core mechanic on the class) they didnt even bother doing a quality job, since its a high probability some of these changes are not quite wai.

The reason for the razor (occams if you will) change approach is very very simple: If you do too many changes at once the result will become unpredictable. Hence its easy to calculate the competence of the person inducing these changes.

On top of that they removed my pants in pvp. I finally got them yesterday (I really hates skirts – just cause anet wears them in the office doesnt mean everyone wants them ingame) and now this morning they were removed.

I think the biggest problem of all is that the last dev post on the mesmer forum (as of today, 11/16, anyway) is on page 15, referring to the very old news of exploration stars not appearing on clones.

Is there even a dev that plays a mesmer or someone who actually works on behalf of the profession? I find it very hard to believe that anyone familiar with the workings and core mechanics of the class would sign off on this travesty.

With that in mind, I checked again, and the only other dev post dates back “2 months ago” and on page 37. Just for comparison, I checked the other profession forums, and while dev attention seems lacking in most, ALL of them have significantly more input from ANet than the mesmer.

I believe that ANet current policy is to nerf everything pushing the paying customer from a profession to another and when you are done with all the car hitting 80 bugger off GW2 because we load their servers too much. Heres my observations so far.

Illusion pathfinding is borked.
They still regularly get stuck on hills, minor obstructions and occasionally just run in the opposite direction of their target.

Illusions attacking out of range and not connecting with anything.
Sword clones are particularly prone to this, as are iSwordsmen. Illusions often shatter out of range and don’t damage their target.

Clones still use Beta versions of skills.
Trident clones still stack confusion for example.

Illusion summoning is still buggy and unreliable.
They still flat out fail in conditions where they should normally work, Illusionary leap still fails on stationary targets at point blank range.

Phantasm specific summoning issues.
With the new behaviour introduced in the patch, Phantasm skills often miss, or otherwise fail in conditions in which they should work. The iWarden has had this behaviour for some time and was often overlooked because of how unreliable summoning it was, now ALL Phantasms act like this. In addition to the regular illusionary summoning bugs, they also enjoy projectile based bugs as well.

iZerker damage and ability to hit target has been kittened.
iZerkers appear to do roughly a third of their original damage per hit, in addition they are connecting with their attacks considerably more unreliably, often outright missing and doing nothing.

Illusionary Warden does not move between attacks.
Not entirely sure if this is intended or not, sometimes it half does sometimes it doesnt. There hasn’t been any official word either way so I have no idea. Personally I think it should though, its attack and summoning cooldown are huge and its attack is far from fast or hard to dodge.

Condition removal skills are still bugged
Arcane Thievery is still buggy and rarely works. Despite it being ‘fixed’ I’ve noticed it still being blocked by Aegis. Null Field still randomly doesn’t remove conditions and boons. Mender’s Purity still often doesn’t work. I don’t know about Shattered Conditions because the only Grandmaster trait that isn’t garbage is Illusionary Persona.

Phantasm buffs still broken.
Phantasmal Fury overwrites Phantasmal Healing, neither of which refresh properly on any Phantasm bar the Duellist.

Sharper Image bleeding still fails on Illusion death.
Bleeding caused by this trait causes zero damage when the illusion dies, given how quickly this happens in most situations, this is a rather prevalent problem.

The underwater version of Mimic lasts half as long as it does on land.
Pretty self explanatory, the window for absorption and reflection is half the time it is land with the same cooldown, very much hampering an already often ignored skill.

Absorbed attack still causes full effects with Mimic(?)
Not entirely sure if this is intended or not, but full damage and effects are taken on the first attack, preventing it from defending against pulls dazes and stuns which will interrupt the skill and cause the full cooldown to take effect.

Deception doesn’t break targeting.
Deception, the second downed skill does not break targeting and will almost never work as a result.

Illusion of Drowning has generally unlimited range.
Illusion of Drowning can be used out of range and most of the time will work at almost any distance so long as you have something targeted.

Temporal Curtain vertical range prevents it from reflecting projectiles.
Many Arching projectiles bypass it right now, slight elevation changes in terrain can also cause it to fail.

Temporal Curtain’s Swiftness buff does not stack with others.
Pretty self explanatory.

Distortion will sometimes fail to do anything.
Damage and various CC will often still occur during Distortion, from both the Shatter and Blurred Frenzy.

Blink and other porting skill still hilariously broken.
You can still port through walls, the floor and out of the map in general. Additionally, porting over the top of objects still has a habit of failing.

Blink occasionally doesn’t break stun.
Blink will often cause you to port, but not break stun. This happens more often than not with knockdowns.

Mirror Blade often fails.
Mirror Blade will often fail to activate at closer ranges and act as if it has been interrupted.

Illusionary Wave will fail at close range.
This skill will very rarely work at close range.

There are a few more, but there is already a tread for it.

I would like to ad one more thing though.

Mind Stab (Greatsword) is an awful skill.
Roots the Mesmer, does poor damge and has awful range. Id like to see it get an extra 10 seconds or so on the cooldown, revert to its old animation and becoming a launch.
Yes. a launch.
Because that would be pretty dang awesome to see in a WvW Zerg.

Add Duelist’s discipline to the list:

Now you can cast the phantasm on a 1200 range but they will run into the 600 range they were before, but this is RANDOM! some phantasms still shoot at 1200 range but they miss everything, so basically now the phantasm 4 of the pistol has a chance of not working at all even if you manage to summon him with that trait up

That’s a great list clipnotdone. We should get it in the stickied topic ASAP. And I’d love a response from ANet on which of these bugs are working as intended and which are bugs. If the LoS illusion-summoning failure is what they intended then it makes a lot of previously viable builds unviable. Hello cookie-cutter dullness and an inability to assist in WvW sieges.

I’m a GS/Staff Mesmer, Power build but after this patch what is going on with my berserker phantasm? I think We deserve a reply from the dev regarding the damage reduction. I can’t kill anything with Greatsword what’s the purpose I make a legendary for my greatsword now?

I’m fine with the LOS fixed and the portal cold down but damage reduction?. I couldnt accept this fix. what’s up with berserker phantasm damage and cold down we can’t even deal burst damage like the thief/warrior do, we can’t even escape like what the thief/warrior or elementalist can do. We not as “tankie” as necro nor warrior/guardian. bare in mind we are light armor class we only have spell /damage and trickery skills. The only thing we can do is outlast enemy with our patient to bring them down with our illusions. And Seriously nerf-ing our illusion is what kill the key point of a MESMER.

Please give us a reply on the unintended/expose FIX over our illusion Damage, I’m really upset with it.

Yeah.. I spent an hour running around trying to figure out what happened to my damage after the last patch. I had been gone for a few weeks on vacation so I was checking my gear, re-checking my gear, and then second guessing myself that maybe my iZerker was always doing damage like that. I love my Mesmer, but it’s kinda hard to stand behind the class when the nerfs (or bugs?) come hard and fast like this and no Dev seems interested enough to even drop a line to say they’re looking into it.. or they know about it.. or it was intentional.. or anything. I Have a Warrior, Guardian, Thief, and Ranger.. Didn’t like any of them nearly as much as I liked playing a Mesmer.. Guess I’ll try a Necro? At least until this gets sorted out, if it ever does.

Holy ^&*! Anet. Please look into these claims. This is insane. The class went from playable to broken over night. Like come on, who ever is testing these changes needs to be “reviewed”. Perhaps put up a test server so the public can test changes before they go live? The fact that these changes were made live in their current state says a lot regarding the QA testing that goes on over there.

My shatters seem fine, but the zerker just not hitting sometimes and only doing lik 500 damage because it misses its other swings or is bugged out sucks. I dont think there was an intentional nerf to zerker, i think they broke it trying to fix their LOS bug. All sorts of classes have solid ae they can spam on walls and zerker was our only solid move for getting people on walls back so they cant ae your zerg. Ive had them thrown at me while LOS plenty of times, it takes about a half second to kill them. This game appears to be turning into another wow, where the devs just nerf anything people cry about, until the game is dumbed down playable by 5 year olds.

I don’t know if my observations will help at all, but here it is.

I jumped the sinking ship of mesmer a while back and switched mains to a class that’s actually still relevant, so I respec’d my mesmer from full zerker DPS (it appeared from testing that phantasms didn’t get the critical damage bonus from my equipment, so why bother with full set of exotic zerker – of course no comment from Anet on this issue) to reflect/support.

Now my mesmer has a lot less power, etc, she’s in all AC vit/toughness/power gear with new traits.

However.

My greatsword auto-attack does not hit for more damage than my iZerker – I suspect due to this low damage spec or traits, it hits on a dummy at max range for around 900. My iZerker hits on the dummy for 1500.

My only way to compare is to say that my iWarden always did about 500-900 more damage than my iZerker, in any spec. Now my iWarden does EASILY 2x the damage iZerker does. While iZerker is doing 1500, iWarden is doing 3000. This disparity was never so large, so I know something is off.

This is on a dummy with all iZerker hits hitting and not missing or bugging out, when it hits perfectly, its damage is certainly significantly reduced compared to pre-patch.

My point in posting this is that I haven’t noticed quite the damage nerf others have reported, so I wonder if heavy damage traits/specs are being effected more somehow.

Illusion of Drowning still puts Reflection on the target, making it fairly damaging to one’s allies.

With Deceptive Evasion traited, sometimes the clones do not spawn when I dodge roll though prior to the patch they did spawn in similar situations.

I just want to say I can confirm pretty much all of this

Heres my observations so far.

Illusion pathfinding is borked.
They still regularly get stuck on hills, minor obstructions and occasionally just run in the opposite direction of their target.

Illusions attacking out of range and not connecting with anything.
Sword clones are particularly prone to this, as are iSwordsmen. Illusions often shatter out of range and don’t damage their target.

Clones still use Beta versions of skills.
Trident clones still stack confusion for example.

Illusion summoning is still buggy and unreliable.
They still flat out fail in conditions where they should normally work, Illusionary leap still fails on stationary targets at point blank range.

Phantasm specific summoning issues.
With the new behaviour introduced in the patch, Phantasm skills often miss, or otherwise fail in conditions in which they should work. The iWarden has had this behaviour for some time and was often overlooked because of how unreliable summoning it was, now ALL Phantasms act like this. In addition to the regular illusionary summoning bugs, they also enjoy projectile based bugs as well.

iZerker damage and ability to hit target has been kittened.
iZerkers appear to do roughly a third of their original damage per hit, in addition they are connecting with their attacks considerably more unreliably, often outright missing and doing nothing.

Illusionary Warden does not move between attacks.
Not entirely sure if this is intended or not, sometimes it half does sometimes it doesnt. There hasn’t been any official word either way so I have no idea. Personally I think it should though, its attack and summoning cooldown are huge and its attack is far from fast or hard to dodge.

Condition removal skills are still bugged
Arcane Thievery is still buggy and rarely works. Despite it being ‘fixed’ I’ve noticed it still being blocked by Aegis. Null Field still randomly doesn’t remove conditions and boons. Mender’s Purity still often doesn’t work. I don’t know about Shattered Conditions because the only Grandmaster trait that isn’t garbage is Illusionary Persona.

Phantasm buffs still broken.
Phantasmal Fury overwrites Phantasmal Healing, neither of which refresh properly on any Phantasm bar the Duellist.

Sharper Image bleeding still fails on Illusion death.
Bleeding caused by this trait causes zero damage when the illusion dies, given how quickly this happens in most situations, this is a rather prevalent problem.

The underwater version of Mimic lasts half as long as it does on land.
Pretty self explanatory, the window for absorption and reflection is half the time it is land with the same cooldown, very much hampering an already often ignored skill.

Absorbed attack still causes full effects with Mimic(?)
Not entirely sure if this is intended or not, but full damage and effects are taken on the first attack, preventing it from defending against pulls dazes and stuns which will interrupt the skill and cause the full cooldown to take effect.

Deception doesn’t break targeting.
Deception, the second downed skill does not break targeting and will almost never work as a result.

Illusion of Drowning has generally unlimited range.
Illusion of Drowning can be used out of range and most of the time will work at almost any distance so long as you have something targeted.

Temporal Curtain vertical range prevents it from reflecting projectiles.
Many Arching projectiles bypass it right now, slight elevation changes in terrain can also cause it to fail.

Temporal Curtain’s Swiftness buff does not stack with others.
Pretty self explanatory.

Distortion will sometimes fail to do anything.
Damage and various CC will often still occur during Distortion, from both the Shatter and Blurred Frenzy.

Blink and other porting skill still hilariously broken.
You can still port through walls, the floor and out of the map in general. Additionally, porting over the top of objects still has a habit of failing.

Blink occasionally doesn’t break stun.
Blink will often cause you to port, but not break stun. This happens more often than not with knockdowns.

Mirror Blade often fails.
Mirror Blade will often fail to activate at closer ranges and act as if it has been interrupted.

Illusionary Wave will fail at close range.
This skill will very rarely work at close range.

There are a few more, but there is already a tread for it.

I would like to ad one more thing though.

Mind Stab (Greatsword) is an awful skill.
Roots the Mesmer, does poor damge and has awful range. Id like to see it get an extra 10 seconds or so on the cooldown, revert to its old animation and becoming a launch.
Yes. a launch.
Because that would be pretty dang awesome to see in a WvW Zerg.

A related bug to this:

If you dodge-roll and your target is at range, your clone will attack something that has NOT started attacking you.

It’s a great way to become completely zerged rather quickly if you use a ranged weapon.

For clipnotdone I’ll give you a 1-up mushroom for the post, I’m down with you almost 100%, though my observations differ slightly..

Heres my observations so far.

Phantasm buffs still broken.
Phantasmal Fury overwrites Phantasmal Healing, neither of which refresh properly on any Phantasm bar the Duellist.

This does not overwrite regen buff, although it takes about 3-4s before the first regeneration is applied and you have to be something like under 250-300 range from phantasm for it to work, which means Phantasmal Healing is most of the time completely useless. On the second hand Phantasmal Fury works just fine for me, but it actually overwrites Vengeful Images trait, which has been broken from the start.

Deception doesn’t break targeting.
Deception, the second downed skill does not break targeting and will almost never work as a result.

Yes you are right on this one and I’d say half the time you get downed, #2 skill just teleports you so close to the enemy stomper that he will certainly kill on the first try. If you don’t actually do anything after using #2 you will stay stealthed so the enemy won’t be able to finish you, although this bugs also quite frequently and you just die and are left to heavy cursing and finding a new keyboard to kill. Still I would not state that Deception “almost never” works, maybe 1/3 times it doesn’t.

I really do like this game a lot and I respect Anet. Anyways the thing that is starting to penguin me off is this preaching of: “We don’t like to talk / show new things before we actually have refined, polished, tested, juggled, tested, bended reality, tested etc. them completely” Well rhymes with duck that if Anet people really doesn’t have the recources to test new bugs which occurs when fixing the old ones.

Someday I would also like to see atleast my phantasms dmg on combat log + separating hits from crits :P

Edit to plasmacutter: Dodge roll clones seems to always target the closest target from them, which is sometimes cool and usually not.

True and true! I would note that exaggerating things eventhough it’s really tempting, usually tends to backfire in a one way or another from the players or the developers point of view.. if you know what I mean Too much whiners and QQ’s just ruins everybodys mood, doesn’t help anyone and I like this thread for keeping reasonable manners / good feedback.

Typo on my part, I meant to say Vengeful Images.
It is worth noting that Illusionary healing is also bugged on every Phantasm bar the Duellist.
