Before even checking the build links: What do you plan to do in WvW? Roam with a small havoc group? Solo? Defend? Zerg fight?

Builds will differ A LOT depending on your answer..

The Hatreidis family: Freya / Nina / Demonica / Athena / Faith / Arya / Angie / Sansa

I like the build. I run something similar.

What I have differently is I run Retaliatory Shield over Desperate Decoy for the retaliation. Also run Chaotic Dampening instead of Cleansing Inscription for the toughness and staff CD.

Runes I run Nightmare runes (just a fan favourite) between the 2 I guess traveller would be a better option for mobility reasons.

Armor I personally run a mix of Rabid and Dire.

But nice build overall.

So both of these builds are generally decent, but have a couple of big issues.

First, veil should never be used unless you’re actually doing a veiling operation for a group. The few seconds of stealth it provides does not justify the 90 second cooldown. I usually use pDisenchanter, but the mantra cleanse or daze mantra or really anything but veil is better there.

Next, I noticed you’re taking desperate decoy. I highly recommend not taking this trait, as it will get you killed, just like the thief trait last refuge. Basically, if it procs while you’re executing an attack (which happens more than you might think), you’ll get instantly revealed, and that usually kills you. Instead of desparate decoy, I recommend long range manipulations to push that blink to 1200 range.

You’re also taking cleansing inscriptions, which is an awful choice. You have 1 signet, it has a 35 second cooldown, and actually activating that signet is something that should be avoided at all costs. This means that trait is completely worthless in this build. You have so many better options there, and I’d recommend using chaotic dampening for the lower cooldowns on staff.

As for the signet itself, ether feast is a far stronger heal in terms of raw healing output. Since you’re not making use of the active effect at all in this build (the phantasm refresh does nothing for you), you’d be far better off using ether feast.

For trinkets, try to get the rabid/dire ascended mix. Using those will put you at a nice hp value of around 20k, and ascended trinkets are fairly easy to get. Never use carrion gear on mesmer though, it’s awful.

For runes, I personally use perplexity, but they’re expensive and I’m not convinced they’re worth it. Undead are a good choice instead of perplexity. Traveler runes are if you absolutely can’t stand swapping on a focus out of combat for swiftness. Otherwise, between focus swap, using the prestige for swiftness from PU, phase retreat swaps, and 1200 range blink, you’ll move at a fairly good clip.

For sigils, it’s absolutely essential that you use an energy sigil on both sets. Double energy is almost entirely non-optional on every single mesmer build designed for any sort of PvP activities. The extra dodges is simply too powerful in mesmer builds to pass up. Other than the energy sigils, you could use sigils of bursting, sigils of doom, a corruption sigil for some stacks, it’s really up to you. I prefer 1 doom and 1 corruption, but that’s just my personal preference.

One last thing to note is that koi cakes are significantly cheaper per minute than rare veggie pizzas, and provide the same benefits.
