Hi everybody!
So as a result of jumping between classes just about bi-monthly, I’m starting to build a collection of level 80 toons that I’m terrible at. I’ve got a thief, warrior, guard, mesmer and now engineer. Anyways, I wanted to see what your opinions were regarding mesmers and might stacking builds similar to what elementalists have been running for a while now.

Personally I very much like mesmers, and I’d like to be able to support my pve buddies to the best of my abilities. But that seems to be best represented by might stacking that can be shared with allies, especially in dungeons and fractals.

Unfortunately I don’t think I have the patience to make an elementalists right now, so I’ll either stick with mesmer if this can work somehow, or go back to my newly 80 engineer.

Now obviously mesmers can’t drop fire fields like eles and engis, but I still think they can share might well. I did a bit of googling and this is what I came up with:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhUQJARWl0npCtFoxINUrNSqhYyU/Qd5wtJ5iAA-TxRGABA8EAGS5XCXCAQ2fgMdBAq+jUKBBA-e

I’m pretty sure this is just a bad mess of traits that don’t sync very well, but that’s what I’m here for. The only things that are close to being set in stone are the 2 signets, but honestly those can go too. Is there a more efficient way to support a party with might for a mesmer?

Thanks for any help you feel like sharing!

-Jay

Mesmers are horrible at might stacking. The build you’ve linked is not only going to be bad at might stacking, it’s also going to be just plain awful at any type of PvE. I’d highly recommend not trying to do it.

Pro tip: Just keep the Signet of Illusions and run with an elementalist, or drop everything might related and get carried by a Phalanx warrior.

Yeah I had a feeling it was like that. And I know the build is awful, it was supposed to be a starting point. I guess if there isn’t anything I can do I’ll move onto another class. Thanks for your help.

Signet of Inspiration is all you need for buffing in dungeons, doesn’t force you into a niche build.

Mesmer brings a pretty enormous amount of utility into teams. Might stacking isn’t part of that utility though. You have mob control, high output reflects, condition removal, boon stripping, and aoe regen all in the same build. You can additionally add signet of inspiration to double the might on your party, even if you’re not generating it yourself.

Mesmer can be good might stackers by camping staff with 3 clones (0/4/6/0/4). This heavily implies a condition build which is a big no no for dungeon parties. If you’re solo it’s perfectly viable and is quite forgiving for the dps you’ll be doing. Under min/maxed dps scenario you will have at least 10 to 15 might on yourself for the whole encounter.
