Guide: How to play a Mesmer in dungeons.
Since Mesmers lack direct damage in PVE, I think it would be neat if these skills were split and allowed you to do the following:
Chaos Armor:
Once the armor has been activated, it can be detonated/shattered to do the following:
- Spread all your boons to nearby allies
- Spread conditions to nearby foes
- Deal high damage to nearby foes (something high enough to be noticeable in PVE and worthy of a 24-30 second cooldown, perhaps 3-4k on average, more if you glass cannon build)
Chaos Storm
Once the field has been activated, it can be manually imploded to do the following:
- Strip all boons from the targeted foes
- Strip all conditions from targeted allies
- Deal high damage to foes in the area of effect, slightly higher than Chaos Armor’s
What do you think?
This is neither necessary nor desirable. PvE/PvP splits should only be done if no other way of balancing is possible, and even then the differences should be minimised. In this case there is no balance issue to begin with (at least where the Staff is concerned, which is primarily condition damage/boon support and NOT direct damage), and even if there were it could likely be balanced without any form of splitting at all given it is mostly a number issue.
Staff is fine for damage. It’s my go to weapon for Veterans and Champions. Illusionary Warlock does a lot of damage. As for the PvE/PvP split, this has to happen and Mesmer is one of the best examples why. The class is stupidly strong in PvP, but is one of the weakest ones for PvE.
You might have a bit of a valid point that they should be kept minimal, but all things considered, I really like the idea of being able to detonate Chaos Armour. Normally, you throw it up…and it’s mostly useless. Having the option to detonate it (for a blast finisher, please?) it would be awesome.
Wait. What? Two of the best skills in the game for team play, and they need buffed? I wouldn’t complain, but the staff is an exceptional weapon as is. It’s not suffering for pve.
