This is my first post on the forums.. I’ve been theorycrafting all day today, on a suitable mesmer build. After spending countless of gold on an offhand sword I quickly realize that the nr 5 skill: “Phantasmal Swordsman” doesn’t even work!

It’s crucial to my build, but also to all fellow mesmers! I’ve tried shutting down the game client, but that didn’t work.. For now I’ll report it as a bug and hope for a Quick fix! You listening A-Net..? Can’t believe if I’m the first mesmer noticing this..?!

Anyway, I want to know if any of you are experiencing the same problem, or if it’s bugged because I use a “Superior Sigil of Speed” in it or something.. Any answers or updates on this issue will be highly appreciated! Especially if it’s a Quick answer from ArenaNet..?! I’m stunned, really.. Was gonna try out a zerker build, but I guess I won’t.

Have you used the phantasmal swordsman before?

theres a graphical bug where if youve never used a weapon and if yoyure already high level, it can unlock the last skill in a single kill, but it actually wont be unlocked. Its like it has progressed to 100%, but for some reason the skill unlock system doesnt allow you to unlock a skill in 1 kill.

Just try killing something with the off hand sword equipped, and it should be fixed!

Im not having problems with the swordsman myself by the way.

This is a problem on your end. No idea what it might be though. Can you explain the issue in more detail?

Phantasmal swordsman works just fine, though like Illusory leap it can be extremely finicky about path-finding when cast on illusion unfriendly surfaces like stairs, bridges, low ground cover or if it’s Tuesday

I’m no kitten.. Ofc I’ve unlocked the skill.. ^^

The tooltip is showing correctly.
The “within range” is working correctly.

I just can’t activate it! Not through keyboard 5, or on my Razer Naga 5.
Not even by clicking on it! And it’s not a pathfinding issue.
It just isn’t responding..

I’m currently using “Berserker’s Pearl Sabre of Speed”.
Tried with “Berserker’s Pearl Sabre of Strength” also..

Ok, have you restarted the computer? Have you reinstalled the game?

I don’t want to resort to those desperate measures..

It doesn’t even light up when I hover over it.
And I can’t link the skill in chat..

Just to annoy you with one more “obvious” question but, you do have a target selected right? <.< – because… y’know. Phantasms arn’t pets persay, they cannot exist without a victim.

Try to go kill a few more PvE mobs with the sword OH equipped, it has happened before that it seems unlocked and shows the tooltip but really isn’t.

Does seem odd as I use swordsman on a daily basis without an issue (Tried and used it fine just now). It would help a lot if you could describe how you are trying to use the phantasm. Is it in PvE? PvP, WvW? Describe what the steps are that you take in order to use the skill. Keep in mind that you cannot use it without targeting an enemy first and being in range or it just doesn’t do anything when you use the ability.
