if you where out of dodges, invulnerability , and other escapes then i’m going to say good job to the Mesmer for having the patience to not cast early.

i usually cast it on people that fight others its has insane range aswell

People assume I have infinite dodges or something.There’s no way to know ahead of time that a mesmer is running moa. Their body turning purple is a crap indication of when it is even being cast. I had no idea how to detect it at all until I looked at multiple youtube videos. If I cast any ranged attack you can see it as clear as day, and move out of the way. Moa is 1s, leaves no trailing animation, and if you were spamming escapes and didn’t hit the 5 after (in my case the 4 in air with staff to remove immob ended up being the 4 on moa) it landed on you, then get immob’d, it’s gg.

I don’t know how this skill even made it into pvp to begin with.

A lot of ignorant comments and trolling accusations. I get it, you don’t like elementalists, me, or anything that points out imbalances.

Moa is a bad skill. Not a lot of mesmers use it. It is dodgable blockable takes to long to cast and you can still fight in moa form or break LOS.
I kill 70-80% of eles in WvW without moa no problem unless it runs away.
Do you see me on ele forum complaining about meteor crap you drop on me and my arrow cart destroying it and downing me on the wall of the tower with 1 hit or 3 k 11111flameswords hits?
My advice roll a thief or mesmer or war and play it in WvW. Ele is not the best class to fight mesmers 1v1. With equal players skill ele should loose to mesmer 70-80% of fights.

LOLOL I’m going for champ phantom right now and get moa’s regularly and maybe one out of twenty times has that actually gotten me killed. Maybe because mesmer is my main does it not bug me. And seriously they used moa in Wvw?

IMO Moa is the most useless elite we mesmers have.

1. Moa will give your opponent the chance to outrun you.
2. Moa still has incredible dmg (try using peck it hits with 7-9k crits (full berserk) on first hit and 1-2k on the other hits.
3. it is extremely obvious
4. it is dodge-, block-, blind-, interrupptable

to topic 5ppl chasing u: Try to survive that as a mesmer with moa equipped. 5v1 is almost 0 chance to escape if you’re no warr/thief

Moa isn’t useless, not by a long shot. It’s pretty braindead to take it into a 1v1, but it works nicely in 3-5 man combat for negating condi bunkers. Time Warp and Mass Invis are certainly more useful in most situations in WvW, but that’s just because mesmer is lucky enough to have 3 useful elites.

I think the dislike of it amongst some mesmers stems from a misunderstanding. It’s not going to turn someone into an easy kill, it just stops them from doing what they were doing for 10 seconds. When what they were doing was causing your party serious problems, it’s handy to have the respite, but you have to do some work to make sure it succeeds.

There’s no situation I can think of where that applies to an elementalist. If a mesmer is casting Moa on a staff ele, it’s either for a joke or because they have no idea what they’re doing. Staff ele produces very little pressure and it’s easier to kill without morphing it.

Yay. More people all over the place. Grats on your experiences vs eles! Grats you didn’t die to moa before! Yes, I died not just from moa alone. Yes, moa still needs to be changed.

I think if you just read my posts, instead of have a seizure about the skill mechanics, you’d see that it’s a cheesy skill that you guys get, even if it’s “bad” to use it.

This is what this thread has earned me:

• People on my server referring to dodging and moas whenever I happen to be trolling about something else.
• People in spvp moa-ing me doing the spvp daily thinking that it’s going to kill me in every situation. Sometimes it works because I’m laughing too much.

I find it pathetic that instead of criticizing or giving a counter argument to the OP with legit reasons for the Moa, everyone turns to “Oh boy, let’s all make fun of the guy qqing about moa”. Could you act like 5-10 years older please? every other professions forum is more mature than this one as it stands

As much as I said not to “feed the Troll,” I’m going to jump in on this comment.
Are you SERIOUS? Most class forums are generally filled with two things:

1. QQ posts about “Aspect X” of “Class Y” being OP, and in need of a nerf.
2. Posts by members of said class, discussing how a certain aspect of their class is UP, and needs buffed.

Hell, man. Go to Thief-land, and say something negative about Stealth or Sneak-attacks, you’ll get ragged far harder than this.

A lot of people explained why Moa is not as op as you think. I understand your frustration especially if you have been turn to moa first time. L2p. I actually was killed once or twice by people who knew what they do in moa form.

BTW Coming to class forum and expecting people to agree with you that some skills are Op is kinda stupid in first place. Especially considering how many mesmer skills was nerfed by Anet.
Moa usually used as a way to annoy and troll not as necessary fighting skill. Personally i would gladly give it up for CD reduction on MassInvis or TW but then people like you start complaing about it.

I have no other threads in mesmer forums. I have none in thief, guardian, etc. There was a balance CDI and I mostly only complained about warriors.

And just how many moa threads have there been in the past? There’s a reason for the type of replies given – because this has come up again and again and people here can’t be bothered with it.

To the OP, as a serious response – I do agree moa is cheesy in certain situations (for example 1v1), and could do with being changed to make it less “overpowered” in those situations, and instead giving it more group utility – like mass invis or time warp.

Katniss I think he meant go to the mist and have the npc mesmer turn you into moa for practice on how to use moa skills after you where transformed.
