Starting up a youtube page for my gameplay. This is some spvp hotjoin action. Love the Mesmer, so choose it as a starting point. Hope you enjoy.

I don’t want to be a jerk, but besides the music, everything in this vid is awfull:

1. HotJoin footage? srs? Killing some noobs who don’t even know how to find the real Mesmer doesn’t show anything
2. Capping close with 2 players while nobody keeps heading to mid
3. 1st Midfight: Even though you have had access to stuff like: distrotion, bodyblocking clones and stealth, you don’t use anything to get a savestomp. Not to mention that you didn’t even try to interrupt the 2nd enemy who was rezzing the warrior
4. 1st fight on close: “trolling” lol. You lost the point pretty fast and were some times near to death vs. a warrior who had now idea what “clones” are
5. 2nd fight on close: you even managed to let the other players cap the point
6. you also almost never made use of blink shortcuts on the

7. Good on you for getting involved in the game and producing some works of where you’re at. Clearly you’ve got a few things to learn, and one day you can be a kitten player like EverythingEnds. Then you can send away for your very own arrogant jerk card and blow off newbs on the forums. ;D

i’m going to have to agree with this guy. I really don’t think EverythingEnds achieved his goal of not coming across as a jerk but I do think there is hope for him to be a more positive supportive member of the community as he did indicate that he was trying to not be a jerk.

I think the main issue is that you’ve taken examples of hotjoin. Hotjoin is….not worth showing. Too many poor players, too many people possibly learning new classes, trying new builds, etc. Winning in hotjoin doesn’t mean much.

Other than that, things like capturing a point with 2 people are pretty cut and dry blunders that don’t have any possible strategic explanation.

In hotjoin when you are ranking up, you get 10 points for neutralizing a point and another 10 for capping it. There is always a point in multiple people standing on a point, one never knows if a team is going to win or lose due to the variety of players and built sets as you stated yourself. I’d hardly call it a blunder to make sure you get all the points you can. In terms of difficulty playing with limited stats. Spvp is more challengeing than the easy mode that is wvw where people load full zerker gear with extra food buffs and 1 shot people. And when they are not doing that they zerg in mass. I do agree not many people care for spvp or more specifically hotjoin spvp because of these factors. There needs to be more people that do post videos of it for the side of the community that do like it. Don’t sweat it Holy some of it is just critique I don’t know if I ever actually seen Pyro bash anyone he just gives his opinion bluntly with no sugar. Hotjoin videos don’t get much love anywhere on the forums so that and it’s a PU build. Those 2 points just don’t help on the forums.

Oh I don’t oZii and I got respect for pyro I’ve seen his contributions to the Mesmer forums. I was referring to Everythingends bashing me at the start, who until recently didn’t even know Mesmer mind wrack clones diminish in damage as each one dies.

People, and myself, are not making a comparison between hotjoin and WvW, we are making the (unstated but generally understood) comparison between hotjoin and tournament matches.

It’s not that people don’t care for hotjoin sPvP, it’s that hotjoin play is inherently flawed if you’re trying to showcase skilled play. The reason I keep bringing up this ‘showcase skilled play’ point is that you’ve edited commentary into your video that leads the viewer to believe you’re attempting to play strategically, but hotjoin simply isn’t the place for this to occur.

So what did you post this clip for? If you posted it to showcase skilled gameplay, then you’ve made a mistake by using hotjoin footage. I know you didn’t post it to showcase a new or unique build, it’s a standard PU power build as you said in your first post. If you had posted it to get feedback on your playing and strategy, then you should have both said so in your original post and not been hostile about the feedback you dd receive.

Edit: Nothing wrong with a PU build though, as long as it’s played properly.

Well said pyro and I did get defensive, only natural given the work I put into recording, setting up youtube account for it, editing, finding music, etc. To get shot down with no regard to why I posted it to start with. I should have stated up front what the full purpose of disclosing it was for the community. Nonetheless I will improve as it was only my first video posting. Who knew posting vids could be such a hassle.

I don’t think, what I did was trash talking. Ok, I admit I used somtimes words like “lol”, but most of it is just objective criticism.
If you can’t stand criticism, I think, you shouldn’t post your stuff on the internet.

The reason why I don’t make videos is pretty simple:
I don’t have anything to show off. I’m aware of the fact that I’m not the best player in the world and I don’t have any kind of “mad 1337 skillz” I could show on youtube.
Maybe you should consider this as an option, too.

You also state that it’s not one of you best games, so what exactly do you want to show with your video?
“Random PvP encounters against unexperienced players?”
I’m pretty sure, this video doesn’t even contain a single fight where your oponents where on your level of experience.
“How to defeat new players”? I don’t need a guide for that.
Or is it
“How to play PU vs. new players” Why would anybody need this? It would be interesting to see how you play against equally skilled players who how PU works and how to counter it.

I also think, I would have been less critical, if there wouldn’t be your comments on the vid like “trolling” or especially vs. the other Mesmer “he couldn’t keep up with me”.
And you think I am the one who is trash talking and thinks he is so good?
Maybe I also should make a vid like “farming rank 1 players on Hot join lolololol, look at my mad skillz”
