Hey all, my friend made this build almost a year ago. Its much easier to play than the double ranged shatter and has better survivabilty. Hey is a video of him running it in wvw and a link to the build in pvp.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAR8flknpMtNqxYNcrNiqxY6XquFSGwClsktB-TpRBwARuAA02fQzRAgcZAAHEgHPAAA

The traditional combo would be greatsword 4,2,5,3 then switch to s/t and teleport to target with 3 then do 2/shatter.

Please don’t tell me I’m bad, I have never played mesmer before today, I just thought this build worked better in pvp.

Works better at what though? You’ll need to define that term.

PvP is about capping and holding circles for points. Team with most points wins. There’s entire, weekly threads about why PU, or anything other than “traditional shatter mesmer” isnt viable for PvP.

Your video is set in WvW which is not “PvP” so to speak. There PU does work well, though the setup if zerker with PU which has its ups and downs. Yes, PU is great for WvW roaming, everyone knows this (and funnily enough this also comes up on a weekly basis on the forums).

So you’re new, you’re having a good time with your build, awesome. It’s not new around here though, just an fyi.

Was just looking at the vid some more. It was published 6 Nov 2013, and I see he’s fighting TC players who’re all ungodly awful. No idea what tier they were back then but they weren’t that great a playerbase when they hit tier 1 this year (have since improved).

Anyway PU is watered down now. You won’t get anywhere near the protection uptime, or aegis procs shown in the vid.

If any of those players build with an iota of sustainability instead of full zerk, that Mes is hard countered. Watch as this guardian face tanks while hard ressing. The guards laughing until an SoS mesmer shows up and Moa’s him, then dishes out some real damage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VAiFk9FkOQ&feature=player_detailpage#t=240

It makes a good roamer, that won’t die as easily as a shatter build. Not sure why it isn’t as popular with all these terrible mesmers I see.

Actually PU trash is extremely popular due to how easy it is to play. Minimal effort→ high reward. If you aren’t seeing every single mesmer running this build in wvw then consider yourself lucky. I’ve been off GW2 for like, 3 months and I came like this week and all I found were PU.

PU is very popular, just most people play it absolutely awfully and get steamrolled as a result.

Yeah. There’s a big difference between an awful player running PU and an experienced player who knows what they’re doing.

Listen people. PU is a trait. Like many other traits it’s a choice. For good or for ill, your choices, whether trait or otherwise, determine if you win or lose. That’s all that matters. All this stuff about mesmers being “bad” for taking PU, and “good” for not taking PU is just your own mental baggage clogging up what’s really going on, which is the contention between victory and defeat.

If you want to grow as a player give up the bad mental construct. Get over the PU bagging, and do what’s necessary. Play to win.
