[PvE] Condition Mesmer (solo only)
Very cool, nice job
I’m thinking you could increase your dps by using 2x staves and either putting battle sigils on both, or doom instead of battle.
y u no calculate 3x duelist using sword in one set and pistol in other set (total 2 weapons, not 3), slotting battle for dat sweet sweet dps

Because swordsmen outdamage duelists?

Not in a solo environment with Sharper Images.
With zerk/scholars, 2x swordsman + 1 duelist are 1.35% more dps than 2x duelist + 1 swordsman (6/4/0/0/4). Though I wonder if that will still be true with Knights gear, since it’s pretty much the power counterpart to the condition focused Rabid gear.

Lower power, lower ferocity, same crit rate. This’ll mean bleeds form a larger total % and duelists will overtake the swordsmen.
Probably should have done this in the first place, but I did just ran a simulation with Knights gear. 2D/1Sw resulted in 0.42% more dps than 2Sw/1D.
Are you trying to insinuate at this point that knights could be better than zerkers? Or is assassins still the best?
Also judging by what you have just posted could it be that a rabids condition build may have a higher damage output than power builds? That would be wild.

Classes capable of applying heavy amounts of conditions already do more damage in rabid vs berserker against heavy targets.
If I can add mesmer to the list of condition soloing classes that’ll be great. The only class I can think of with terrible condition application would be guardian and apparently ele isn’t very good at it either.

Emphasis on condition soloing though. Conditions still are absolutely not viable in a party.
Greetings! Sorry to necro this old thread, but I’ve thought it was better than creating a new one.
Is this build still viable for this cause? (link for it at OP)
Mostly aimed at surviving against Mordrem, wich I find very kitten any other build I go with.
Nothing major has changed in past 9 months, except maybe the sigil nerf but that’s not too important. Overall everything is still valid.
Yeah, was able to test and managed to beat a golem champion on my own at Mt. Maelstrom! And was a fight infested with respawning adds.
Was pretty impressed, and even taking that my gear isn’t the proper gear suggested by the OP.
Finally got a chance to explore Illusionary Elasticity fix and how it affected condi mesmer performance in PvE.
Ideal encounter (test dummy)
If you can actively avoid the incoming damage through blocks/dodges/blurred-frenzy and can keep your phantasms up and alive for the whole encounter – power is definitely better. That is when you use 2x Swordsmans + Duelist, if you use 2x Swordsman + Warden then dps is more or less equal for both condition and power builds.
Not-so-ideal encounter (mob actually fights back)
- Power Mes: 3,057 dps (melee weapons + kiting)
- Power Mes: 3,003 dps (ranged)
- Condi Mes: 4,929 dps <—— POST PATCH
- Condi War: 5,535 dps
If the mob hits so hard that you can’t melee it even when using all your active defenses then a condition build is definitely a great option now. With the inherently high toughness (2k+ toughness & Illusionary Defense trait) you can literally facetank and outheal almost all of the incoming damage. Dps-wise, in some cases, we now can match or at least get very close to the condi warrior dps, which many consider the highest condi-based dps’er in pve.
The build used in the condi tests (if too lazy to watch the videos):
And of course, a very basic dps calculator (only staff calcs for now):
Bleeding stack counter over 30 seconds pre changes ( significant buff after changes; will be making guide if it turns out to be viable and I’m not busy) Assumes no might or other party buffs or power damage.
Thief -
caltrops (1x) 1812 x 10 = 18120 18120 × 1.2 = 21744
Needle trap (1x) 9513 × 1 = 9513
Krait runes elite (1x) 17.5 × 151 = 2642
Uncatchable (6x) 1208 × 3 = 3624 3624 × 6 = 21744
Death blossom (11x) 9513 × 11 = 104643
W/o death blossom bleeds = 55643
With death blossom bleeds = 160286
Total possible bleeds = 25 × 30 × 151= 113250
Bleed Dps possible = 3775
Theoretical bleed dps with death blossom = 5342.866
Other condis
Krait Torment (1x) 113 × 12s =1356 113 × 2 = 2712
Theoretical poison dps
15 + 9 + 12 + (6 × 12) = 108 × 301 / 30 = 1084
Poison possible (x) 301 × 30 = 9030
Total damage possible = 113250 + 9030 + 2712 = 124992
Total dps possible = 4166.4
Theoretical dps = 5343 + 1084 + 226 = 6653
Reference,
initiative gain =
Traits = ( 27 + 33 + 10 = 70 initiative gain every 100 seconds) = 23.3 initiative gain above base ( in 30s )
4/15 ( 26.666 /100)
3/9 ( 33/100)
1/10 ( 10/100)
Base = .6 / 1 .6 × 30 =
Utilities = ( 6/48 ) = 12/100 = 4 gain
Total initiative gain per 30s = 23 + 4 + 18 = 45

( this is not the optimal version for bursting ( and does not use confusion, despite the fact you can get 60k confusion damage in 3s against some types of foes, I may share that later.)

I was wondering about swapping the sword main hand for scepter, as the build constantly favor clone production to apply conditions and testing all over, I barely stood still in place to benefit from Sword 2 (wich roots me). Scepter 2 seemed more useful to me because I can use it on the move, plus 3 applies a nice stack of conditions and 1, although slow, adds to the clone factory. Yes, I do less dps than with sword, but since it’s solo, I don’t mind killing stuff in a longer timing, but safer.
For offhand I switch between focus or pistol, depending on the enemies.
For utility signet to increase condi dmg+ mirror images + either feedback or signet to increase boon dur., depending on what I’m against
