Couple of questions:
Since they almost fixed back iwarden, seems mesmer got really good at most istances.

Yet you find people not wanting a mesmer even for CM -____-
How do you think will take people to digest the changes?
Or do you think PvE mesmer, still doesn t Worth it?

Another question about the DnT build 64022 if i remember correctly:
It puts lot of traits on signet distortion and cooldowns.

isn t just better the old 24053 build?
or the 400 more power does so much more than the phantasm cd reduction etc?

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Mesmer in CM is bad because Warden no longer reflects all projectiles while traited. For example, the Grenadier boss will toss grenades past your Wardens if they’re traited.

Kind of defeats the purpose of being a Mesmer in a dungeon full of projectiles.

Also, the 2/4/0/5/3 build is pure Phantasm damage, meaning your dps will be significantly bad. It does provide support, but the 64040/64004 build will improve your DPS, which is included in all reflects done, even by your Phantasms.

Assuming the projectile reflects work, the 640xx build is stronger.

Assuming they don’t work, the 640xx build is still stronger.

Assuming the destructs work, the 24053 build is stronger, except, you know, you’re not traiting into Warden’s, making it useless.

I can agree with DPS on a 3 min fight.
I don t in a 30 sec fight.

Also Yesterday joined a CM full run….i was Killing most stuff while the party was still running to the stack point…

90% opponents have guns, not grenades.
Same can be said on SE P3 mostly.
Many fractals also.
AC P2 well you know you what you can do.
Hotw1 same stuff
Arah… we already know

I think there are good reasons to bring a mesmer in dungeons now (i main an ele and have a war alt so i can play anyway).
Is more that most mesmers i usually meet in dungeons plays like they are warriors :| only 51111251112TW111121112

The builds our guild uploads aren’t really put together through some consensus, it’s kind of what the individual uploading feels are the best builds – whether this is via math, gut feeling, experience, or a mixture. I personally don’t think some of the things suggested have enough of a justification to use them, but I dunno. I would probably record build guides for certain classes if they weren’t already covered but they are.

So, I take it that mantra builds are the PvE meta now??

….well lets be honest what else is there to the rotation? You summon phantasms, you slot in and use whatever the relevant utility skill(s) are at the relevant time and then you just 11111111111111121111111111111112111111111111111TW to win. Like, it’s not rocket science.

I acrtually use utilities a lot ._. also temporal curtain + iwarden for example to clean conditions and stuff, consider phantasm attack rate on summoning and much much more.

Also the GS in TA aether etc etc

For example defender and disenchanters have their uses.
Its all about using all the situational stuff you have to become versatile enough.

You guys are sure about grenades aren’t able to be reflected? I mean afaik from my engineer, if I toss them next to the reflecting enemy, they hit the enemy due the splash without being reflected. Maybe this happened?

About the builds, currently I’m not really sure what to do, since most enemies are in groups where the new mantras both totally shine! Mantra of pain deals great damage against 3-5 targets and if you use the mantra to daze enemies while traiting at least 4 points in domination, you can go for halting strike wich deals great damage if you time it and also apply a decent amount of vulnerability for passive damage.

The question is: IF I need reflection, I have to go for 4 points into inspiration. So, will it be 6/4/0/4/0 for more personal damage, or will it be 4/6/0/4/0 for more mantra usages?? Will the 8% damage bonus be enough? Yet sometimes only 4 or 0%? I mean is it worth more than an additional mantra of pain + distraction + halting strike + vuln??? I doubt it tbh.

So I’d say a full dps build still is 6/6/0/0/2, for 2+ mantras in the utility slots 4/6/0/4/0 and for less than 2 mantras 5/4/0/5/0 or even 6 in inspiration if it comes handy to have increased feedback / nullfield dura or you can abuse corpses for feedbacks.

Grenades are reflectable, yes.

I haven’t done thorough testing, but I know that there are many cases where Warden’s are not reflecting/destroying projectiles when they should be (that’s not saying that they should be cheesing everything, but some things make a lot of sense being reflected).

Mesmer is fine now in pve and pvp . Not top tier but in pve FGS is gone , so TW has more usage there also iwarden fix helps a lot (its slower tho but better than stand still doing nothing)
6 in dom line is for mantra damage buff 16% damage boost from 4 mantras (usually 8-12% since u have to use signet of illusion and feedback etc) And yes it’s huge for reflect damage.
Btw Dazzling does add a bit more group support. MOD is aoe now which means mesmer could easily do 10 stacks of vule in 5s (last 8s) . Also offhand sword could do daze , it will be 5%-15% group damage boost in short time without considering interruption .
2/4/0/5/3 is still good for some boss fights,

Umm the build i saw (updated to Yesterday) was a signet build not a mantra build.
That is why i questioned its efficience.

No damage increase, except passive stats in first line.
just distortion on signet and signet recharge… we don t really need

Just to add a side note regarding projectile reflection.

In an update awhile back, ANET buffed enemy projectiles so they all have have a rare chance to be invulnerable, meaning they can pass through any type of reflection/block skill.

I have seen this while blocking eggs at the Triple headed Wurm event on my guardian when an egg passed through my Wall of Reflection while the other 2 eggs in the spread were successfully blocked.

I use 640xx builds for easy encounters and dungeons. I use 24053 for harder and longer encounters, like high lvl fotm where i have to kite a lot and i need more non-mantra utility skills like portal, blink, signet for distortions

I really don’t know why you all want to go 24053. Traiting into illusions is a huge dps loss imo. If you can count on your illusions they wont die and you don’t need the resummoning cdr, if they die all the time, better go for more direct damage via power or precision + mantras. If illulsions die all the time you also can forget about the signet and use a mantra heal instead.

Mesmer DPS has always been good, but:

1) Optimized speedclear guilds don’t use them because they’re not necessary when you can do a coordinated might blast > FGS burst to kill most bosses before the mesmer even gets his phantasms up. Note that most pugs are not optimized speedclear guilds and do not do coordinated might blasts > FGS bursts.

2) Because people think mesmers have bad DPS, they don’t build their mesmers for DPS because assuming that’s true, there’s no point in building a class for DPS if it has no DPS. This results in a self-fulfilling prophecy where the players who play mesmer go “mesmer must be bad, my full carrion mesmer with a staff hits for crap compared to my full zerk warrior”.

3) Even putting aside FGS and misconceptions, the mesmer actually does have bad burst. Warriors (used to) be able to open with a super high burst (now it’s the opposite thanks to adrenaline decay) which means that it took a very long time for the mesmer to get ahead in average sustained DPS, by which time the fight would usually be over. Now that sustain is much more important, both engineers and mesmers will be much more important as well due to the fact that they are the kings of sustain.

For those in the know these aren’t concerns anymore (FGS is bad now, as are warriors) but I think most people will still be stuck on the “mesmer is bad DPS” thing from like two years ago.

Warriors can actually just use healing surge before a fight to start at full adrenaline, it’s just 99.99999999999999999% of warriors are too lazy to even bother doing that.

But yeah, warrior DPS is like dumpster tier.
