PvE reflection build?
Wiki on Reflection:
This trait only affects the Distortion Shatter skill and will not grant reflection if the Distortion effect is applied through other means.
According to this explanation Blurred Inscription does not provide reflection.
Masterful Reflection: Doesn’t this reflect projectiles only?
Wiki on Retaliation:
Damage dealt depends on the level and power of the Retaliation’s source (i.e. whoever gave Retaliation to the entity being attacked). At level 80 this is:
198.45 + (0.075 * Power)
So you probably inflict damage via retaliation within this range: 200-400
For PvE this would not do much, except if you give Area Retaliation with Focus 4 and if the boss is inflicting AoE damage on your whole party, this could be like 400*5= 2000 damage retaliated to the boss.
I personally don’t think it is worth it.
OP phantasm build is imho the best (and possibly the most used) fractal build for mesmer.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

If you want to reflect (, not retaliate):
- Focus + Focus Trait
- Feedback + Glamour traits
- Optional Feedback on rev (focus + 2x glamour in same line)
- Mirror
- Mimic
- Vitality & Toughness for survivability
- Blurred Frenzy for survivability
Anything but berserker gear. And with a reflect build … you’re useless in most situations.

the exact opposite of all written here for fractals of the mist (the rest was fine).
i.e. full zerker gear and reflect is gold in fractals.

well thanks for the feedback.
the above build is not to be taken at face value.
I just threw it together to give you something to work with.
Great video, Quam. thats what I was looking for.
One question though:
Why is he not using the reflection on distortion trait?
