Q:
Q: Why isn't there any healer class in gw2?
1. Totally wrong section.
2. There are no specialty classes because that was the design decision. They didn’t want to follow the three class type and limit possibilities by having only dps, tank, and healer classes.
3. Pretty much any class can build to be a healer, but some are better at it. If you prefer being a healer, there are a few classes particularly good at focusing on healing, so the possibility to be a healer is still there.
There is no healer class, but there is healer build for any class.

Except for thief :C
Also, support is more than just healing. Something like:
reflect a projectile attack that would do 20k damage to the party or heal 1.2k aoe per second
Now, lets say you choose to reflect the attack. You pretty much “healed” for 100k.
If you chose to dpam heals, everyone below 20k hp wouldd be downed :P.
That said, mesmer/engi/guardian/ele have acces to some of the best support, so if you choose one of those, you should be good.

Why did you post this here of all places?
I have no idea, but I suppose that the irony is that the Mesmer is the only real “healer” class in GW2. When fully specced into healing and restorative mantras you pump like 10000 hp/s into a group of 5. Guardian has some nice burst healing skills, but cant maintain it in the same way.

Guardian mace auto attack will heal for 700 per auto attack chain if you max out healing power.
Mace 2 traited will give [257(symbol) + 380(regen)] = 637 /sec
Battle Presence+ Absolute resolution = Virtue of Resolve healing for ~200 per second in an aoe.
So a 0/0/20/30/20 guardian could heal for ~1k per second in an aoe with just mace 1 and 2 and the passive.
Then there are the 2k aoe heals when the guard dodges and the 1.1k heals when aegis is removed. Shield 5 for 1.7k aoe and healing breeze for 4k.
3k heals every 4.75 seconds with mantra of pain or 631 h/s per target. AOE regen for 380. You can occasionally stagger other mantras but that still comes down to 1500 per second spike every ~15 seconds. and 1k the rests of the time. So basically guardian passives = mesmers mantra spam + regen. The guardian also comes with perma protection to your entire party for 33% dmg reduction. I really think you underestimate guardian healing.
Is it worth it? Maybe at the new teq since ppl seem to die off like flies. Otherwise no. Actually, probably not worth it at teq either. To the OP: Dodging is your friend and what Anet wants you to do. To be able to heal through 1 hit KOs would turn this game into too much of a wow clone.

Are the best answers I could find to the OP’s question.
Summed up one way, they removed “dedicated healers” since content requiring such a class causes a dependency of that class.
While I enjoyed playing healers in other games, in the end I felt like my healing class existed simply to enable other people to play the game. Therefore, making everyone share in the responsibility of survival makes sense to me and I think it’s a good move by ANet.

The main difference is dedicated roles were split up and given to each profession. Each player has a shard of each trinity role and must contribute as needed to each role instead of having a single role.
Traditional MMO System Role Focus on:
HHHHHHHH Healing
TTTTTTTT Tanking
DDDDDDDD Damage
GW2 Role Focus:
DDDTTHH
TTTDDHH
HHHTTDD
That is of course simplified for demonstrative purposes, but illustrates the shards of roles.
