I have a question for the guru’s of creativity out there. I have long wanted to make a build that has high boon duration (like in the 90% range) but still has high damage output. I wanted to know what builds people know of or come up with that seem like they can work this? I would at least like to see a variation on power/boon duration and one for condition damage, anyone have any thoughts or idea’s about this? Maybe make a phantasm build that focuses on passing buffs to clones/phantasms, really would like to get some idea’s.

Easiest way to get boon duration is via Chaos tree and runes+food. With those, you can get 90%. From there, I would suggest going damage gear (so probably berserker) and then the remainder of your traits can either be pseudo shatter cat (will be hard to pull off) or a phantasm build. The only problem with a phantasm build is that your phantasm regeneration does not get affected by boon duration. If you were to do that build, I would suggest something like…

0/20/30/15/5. It’s a really weird trait setup and doesn’t really utilize anything to the fullest, but it would give you enormous amounts of boon duration and what you do with that is up to you.

It’s not a very full-fledged build, so don’t expect to do anything amazing.

0/20/30/0/20 can work pretty well. Its obviously going to be a condition damage build because the traits in Chaos work really well with condition damage builds, and rabid armor (tough/prec/cond) synergizes well with sharper images. I’ve run a build using that for a while, and if you play right, there isn’t much you can’t survive.

On the other hand, the damage output is pretty low, so Rampager’s would work better, while you still get the extra bang for Sharper Images. That could let you run a greatsword, which both gets the best bang per clone from SI, and benefits from Illusionary Elasticity…

By the way, you looking for PvE? Dungeons? WvW? SPvP?

Well, I like to start with the word dungeon and branch out from there. Really though, I am mostly looking for something that fits all situations, maybe not exceptionally, but a kind of one style fit all build. Maybe its not perfect, but I like survivability and utility, so I am always looking for those things in a good build. I actually considered a retaliation setup with large might stacks helping out with condition damage, synergizing the trait that gives retaliation on F2, with the trait that gives might on shatter and sigil of battle to see if the long duration might stacks would quickly add up to 25 and then see what sharing those might stacks with my clones/phantasms would do. But that’s really experimental, not sure how 25 might on say a clone would affect their damage much or not.

Freedan, clones don’t do damage, so it’s not going to help them any lol If you’re wanting to do a supportive boon build check out Chaos Archangel’s build. If you’re wanting to do a more all around build that can dps and be supportive thru phantasms, focus, utilities try out Pyroatheist’s Supportive Phantasm build.

I have a boon set (80% boon duration with no food). I really like to PvE with it for the swiftness duration. Water + Monk + Sanctuary runes, Zerker trinkets and set.

0-20-30-0-20. Traited staff, clone on dodge, boon on interrupt, traited bounce.

I like the responses given so far, everyone’s had a good comment. Kispera, I think I would like to check out your build setup. Currently I have two full exotic armor sets: giver’s, and knights. Will see if I can run the knights setup for now until I get over my disappointment about how low the boost from Giver’s is(1% for a full set of 6 armor is absolutely not worth the point investment, I don’t care how Anet feels about boon duration, that is just too much wasted. Coupling it with magic find doesn’t make me feel better either, terrible stats no matter which way you send the dice).

2 Major Rune of Sanctuary (10%)
2 Superior Rune of the Water (15%)
2 Superior Rune of the Monk (15%)
= 40 %

Dueling : II or III, X
Chaos : II or III orIV, X = 30 %
Illusions : II or III, VII

Utilities : Null Field or Arcane Thievery, Signet of Midnight (10%), Signet of Inspiration.
Grand total of 80 % with no food. Condition remover, Stun breaker, Support/Group boon.
Perfect mix.

Staff and Sw/F. Abuse the Chaos Storm/Null Field combo field (Phase Retreat and Illusionary Leap), for Chaos Armor (Get more boons !)
