Hello. I am trying to prepare for a new PVP season. So I tried some necromancer builds in PVP. I don’t like necromancer for some reason that much though… So I decided to revive my old mesmer and give it a shot.
Since my necro is with condi setup right now, transfering my ascended gear would be an easy way to set up my mesmer, so I am thinking of trying out condi mesmer.
Basically I like to play PVP and PVE both so I try to run similar build in PVE as I do in PVP.
My question is: how is condi mesmer dps in PVE? I remember power mesmer doing poor dmg in PVE. I wonder if condi is better? Also how is the PVE damage compared to condi necro (people talk that condi necro has pretty low dps)
Another question is: how’s condi mesmer in PVP? I really would like to use scepter with something else. I guess I would need to use a staff as well. Any weapon combo suggestions? How’s mesmer in PVP in general?

First of all, you can run your PvP build in open world PvE or low-level dungeons. But please don’t expect it to work in high-level fractals or raids.

In PvE raid, there is a dedicated condition mesmer build(http://qtfy.enjin.com/mesmer). It works well on certain bosses.

For PvP, condition mesmer is part of the meta and strong in both coordinated team play and solo play(http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Chronomancer_-_Chronophantasma_Shatter) . Portal and moa are really unique and powerful skills in PvP. They make mesmers stand out.

Assuming you’re not planning to do raids

I’ve played the two classes in pve with rabid at some point (pure condi). Even if mesmer is known for having “the worst” conditions for pve, they’re still faster than the bleeds from necro.

The thing is necro can condiblast an area with staff effectively and also spread conditions with epidemic, mesmer can’t, for aoe you would have to use runes of perplexity and torch…

This is considering you’re not using power, if you have viper gear i’d go straight to mesmer. After the nerf to condi necro there’s nothing to stop you from choosing the mesmer’s scepter which is superior to necro’s scepter in viper gear.
