Hello, my main is a lvl 80 human mes. I use the sword/focus combo with a staff for defense. Im looking at getting my toon geared up, and began to wonder about vulnerability: is the % of damage caused by vulnerability considered condition damage? Right now Im using the Seraph sword, which made me wonder if the condition damage it grants me is wasted… I found Whisperblade, and it seems like the perfect sword for a mesmer, but will I need a Fine Transmutation Stone as well? [would get power/ precision/ crit % or dmg, to go with my Adam C:]

if anyone can help me out with this, i would really appreciate it!!

I don’t think so…

Since it’s a flat out 1% damage increase per stack, I believe that it only increases damage sources (Direct and Condition) by 1%.

Meaning that the only way it’s effectiveness is increased is via having more stacks (To increase the percentage bonus damage) or to increase your Power (Direct Damage) or Condition Damage to gain a larger bonus from the percentage increase.

Having Condition Damage enhancements whilst only focusing on Direct Damage would not increase the damage gained from Vulnerability.

If what I read is accurate, condition damage does not effect the % of a single vulnerability effect. Condition Duration improves the duration of the vulnerability effect but, the only way to increase the % of the effect is to stack multiple vulnerability effects.

Vulnerability is always a flat 1% extra damage. Only increasing the number of stacks of vulnerability increases the % of damage.

Condition Damage does not change this 1%.
(Now Conditions that deal damage, I am unsure of if they benefit from Vulnerability or not.)
Condition Duration changes the duration Vulnerability lasts from YOUR sword swings. NOT from your clones sword swings.

That said, Condition Damage is not wasted on MH-Sword for a different reason completely in PvE. If you have Sharper Images (15 Illusions), then Condition Damage is still useful for Sword Clones. The fact Sword Clones can hit up to 3 targets on their first 2 of 3 swings, means you can be spreading around 5 seconds of Bleeding to multiple targets. Something no other Land-based Clone can state they do.
(For me, a clone critting = 500 damage from the 5s Bleed. Always a nice little bonus.)
WvWvW or sPvP on the other hand … Sword Clones are not quite as effective, thus loosing out on the Sharper Images benefit and Condition Damage as a result.

YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN’T TRUE. HOW ELSE CAN THEY BECOME?

Also with the 15 minor trait in domination with the dazzling meaning you inflict 5 stacks of vuln when you daze a target is very useful because you can easily get the max with that and a GS or MH sword and follow it up with mindwrack to insta kill enemies.
